SETTING UP:
Note: This weather station recei ves only one outdoor trans mitter.
1. First, insert the batteries i nto the Temperature tra nsmitter. (see “Install and replace
batteries in the temperature trans mitter“).
2. Immediately after and within 30 seco nds, insert t he batteries into Weather station (se e
“Install and replace batteries in the w eather station ”). Once t he batteries are in
place, all segments of the LCD wi ll light up bri efly. Following the time as 0:00 and the
weather icon will be di splayed. If these are not di splayed after 60 seconds, remove t he
batteries and wait for at least 30 seco nds before rei nserting them.
3. After inserting the batteries, t he Weather stati on will start receivi ng data from the
transmitter. The outdoor temperat ure and the sig nal reception icon should then be
displayed on the W eather station. If this does not happen after 3 minutes, the batteri es
will need to be removed from bot h units and reset from step 1.
4. In order to ensure suffici ent 868 MHz transmi ssion however, this should under good
conditions be a distance no more t han 100 meters betwee n the final positi on of the
weather station and the transmi tter (see notes o n “Mounting ” and “868 MHz
Reception”).
5. Once the remote temperature has been recei ved and displayed on the weather stati on,
the DCF time (radio controll ed time) code reception is automati cally started. This takes
typically between 3-5 minutes i n good condi tions.
HOW TO INST ALL AND REP LACE BATTERIE S IN THE WE ATHER ST ATION
The weather station uses 3 x AAA, IEC LR3,
1.5V batteries. W hen batteries will need to be
replaced, the low battery ico n will appear on
the LCD. To install and replace t he batteries,
please follow the steps below:
1. Lift up the battery compartme nt cover.
2. Insert batteries observing the correct
polarity (see marking).
3. Replace compartment cover.
HOW TO INST ALL AND REP LACE BATTERIE S IN THE TEM PERATURE
TRANSMITTER
The temperature transmitter uses 2 x AA, IEC LR6, 1.5V ba ttery. To
install and replace the batteries, pl ease foll ow the steps below:
1. Remove the battery compartme nt cover at the back of t he
transmitter.
2. Insert the batteries, observing t he correct pol arity (see marking).
3. Replace the battery compartme nt cover on the unit.
Note:
In the event of changing batteri es in any of the units, all units need to be
reset by following the setting up proced ures. This i s because a security
code is assigned by the transmi tter at start-up and t his code must be
received and stored by the W eather station in the fi rst 3 minutes of power being sup plied to i t.
DCF RADIO CON TROLLED TIME
The time base for the radio co ntrolled time i s a Cesium Atomic Cl ock operated by the
Physikalisch Technische Bundesa nstalt Braunsc hweig which has a time deviati on of less than
one second in one milli on years. The time i s coded and transmitted from Mainfli ngen near
Frankfurt via frequency signal DCF-77 (77 .5 kHz) and has a tra nsmitting range of
approximately 1,500 km. Your radi o-controlled weather stati on receives this signal and
converts it to show the precise ti me in summer or wi ntertime.
The quality of the reception depe nds greatl y on the geographic location. In normal ca ses,
there should be no receptio n problems within a 1,500 km ra dius of Frankfurt.
DCF reception is done twice dai ly at 02:00 and 03:00 am. I f the reception is not succ essful at
03:00 am, then the next recepti on takes place t he next hour and so on until 06:00am, or until
the reception is successful. If t he reception is not s uccessful at 06:00 am, then the next
attempt will take pl ace the next day at 02:00 am.
If the tower icon flashes, but does not set the time or t he DCF tower does not appear at all,
then please take note of the fol lowing:
•
Recommended distance to any i nterfering sources l ike computer monitors or TV sets i s
a minimum of 1.5 - 2 meters.
•
Within ferro-concrete rooms (baseme nts, superstructures), the recei ved signal i s
naturally weakened. In extreme cases, pl ease pl ace the unit close to a window and/ or
point its front or back towards t he Frankfurt transmi tter.
•
During nighttime, the atmospheri c disturbances are usually less severe and reception is
possible in most cases. A singl e daily recepti on is adequate to keep the accuracy
deviation below 1 second.

WEATHER FOREC AST AND TEN DENCY
THE WEATHER FORECASTIN G ICONS :
There are 3 weather icons in t he second secti on of LCD which can be displ ayed in any of the
following combinations :
For every sudden or signifi cant change in the air press ure, the weather icons will update
accordingly to represent the c hange in weather. If t he icons do not change, then it m eans
either the air pressure has not c hanged or the cha nge has been too slow for the W eather
station to register. However, if t he icon displ ayed is a sun or raining cloud, there will be no
change of icon if the weather gets a ny better (wi th sunny icon) or worse (with rainy icon) si nce
the icons are already at their e xtremes.
The icons display weather forecasts i n terms of getting better or worse, and not necessaril y
sunny or rainy as each icon i ndicates. For exampl e, if the current weather is cl oudy and the
rainy icon is displayed, i t does not mean that the prod uct is faulty because it i s not raining. It
simply means that the air press ure has dropped and the weat her is expected to get worse b ut
not necessarily rainy.
Note:
After setting up, readings for weat her forecasts s hould be disregarded for the next 1 2-24
hours. This will allow suffici ent time for the Weather Station to col lect air pressure data at a
constant altitude and therefore res ult in a more acc urate forecast.
Common to weather forecasti ng, absolute accuracy ca nnot be guaranteed. The weat her
forecasting feature is esti mated to have an accuracy l evel of about 75% due to the va rying
areas the Weather Station has bee n designed for use in. In areas that experience s udden
changes in weather (for exampl e from sunny to rai n), the Weather Station will be more
accurate compared to use in areas w here the weat her is stagnant most of the time (f or
example mostly sunny).
If the weather station is moved to a nother locati on significantly higher or lower than it s initial
standing point (for example from t he ground fl oor to the upper floors of a house), rem ove the
batteries and re-insert them after abo ut 30 seco nds. By doing this, the W eather Station will
not mistake the new locati on as being a possi ble change in air-pressure when reall y it is due
to the slight change of alti tude. Again, disregard weat her forecasts for the next 12 to 24 hours
as this will allow time for operati on at a constant alti tude.
THE WEATHER TENDENCY IN DICATOR
Working together with the weat her icons are the weat her tendency indicators (locate d on the
left and right hand side of the weat her icons). W hen the indicator points upwards, it means
that the air-pressure is i ncreasing and the weat her is expected to improve, but when indicator
points downwards, the air-press ure is droppi ng and the weather is expected to beco me
worse.
Taking this into account, you wi ll see how the weat her has changed and how it i s expected to
change. For example, i f the indicator is pointing dow nwards together with cloud and sun
icons, then the last noticeabl e change in the weat her was when it was sunny (sun ic on only).
Therefore, the next change i n the weather will be the cloud with rain icons since the indicator
is pointing downwards.
Note:
Once the weather tendency i ndicator has regi stered a change in the air pressure, it w ill
remain permanently vi sualized on the LCD.
INDOOR TEMPE RATURE AND MIN/M AX RECORDS
The indoor temperature and i ndoor MIN/MAX records are di splayed on the last secti on of the
LCD.
Note: The MIN/MAX indoor temperat ure range is -9ºC to + 38ºC with 1° C resolution.
OUTDOOR TEMP ERATURE AND MIN/MAX REC ORDS
The outdoor temperature and o utdoor MIN/MAX records are displayed on the last se ction of
the LCD.
Note: The MIN/MAX outdoor temperat ure resolution is range -40ºC to + 60º C with 1° C
resolution.
RESETTING THE IND OOR AND OUTDDOR MIN/M AX RECOR DS
Note: All the MIN/MAX records wi ll be reset at the same time.
1. In normal display mode, press a nd hold the MIN/M AX RESET key for 3 seconds. This
will reset the indoor and outdoor MIN/MA X temperat ures.
868 MHz RECEPTI ON CHECK
The weather station should recei ve the temperat ure data within 3 minutes after set- up. If the
temperature data is not received 3 mi nutes after setti ng up (not successfull y continuously, the
outdoor display shows “- - -” ), pl ease check the foll owing points:
1. The distance of the weather stati on or transmi tter should be at least 1.5 to 2 meters
away from any interfering sources s uch as comp uter monitors or TV sets.
2. Avoid positioning the weather stati on onto or i n the immediate proximity of metal
window frames.
3. Using other electrical products such as headpho nes or speakers operating on the sa me
signal frequency (868MHz) may preve nt correct signal transmi ssion and reception.
4. Neighbours using electri cal devices operati ng on the 868MHz signal frequency can a lso
cause interference.
Note:
When the 868MHz signal i s received correctly, do not re-ope n the battery cover of either the
transmitter or weather station, as t he batteri es may spring free from the contacts and force a
false reset. Should this happe n accidentally then reset al l units (see Setting up abov e)
otherwise transmission problems may occ ur.
The transmission range is abo ut 100 m from the tra nsmitter to the weather station (i n open
space). However, this depends o n the surroundi ng environment and interference lev els. If no
reception is possibl e despite the observation of t hese factors, all system units have t o be
reset (see Setting up ).
POSITIONING THE WEATHER STATION:
The weather Station may be hung o nto wall easily or free standing.
