POSITIONING YOUR MAGNAT SYMBOL PRO SPEAKERS FOR OPTIMUM
PERFORMANCE
Stereo reproduction
Reproduction of stereo sound requires two loudspeakers, which are sometimes
supported with an additional subwoofer. The speakers are generally referred to as the
left and right speakers or the left and right channels. They should be located in front of
and to the left and right of your listening position.
In the ideal configuration the speakers and the listening position should form an
equilateral triangle, which is known as the “stereo triangle” (Fig. 1). When the left and
right speakers are the same distance from the listening position their sound arrives at the
same time, resulting in a harmonious, natural music reproduction.
It is also best to position the loudspeakers in the part of the room containing the most
“hard”, acoustically reflective surfaces – for example in front of a wall or windows. The
sound from the speakers should be directed from the “hard part” of the room into the “soft
part” – i.e. the area containing the most carpets, couches and other sound-absorbing
furniture and materials. There should be a clear line of sight between the loudspeakers
and the listening position. Any sound-absorbing or reflecting obstacles in the path will
distort the music.
The Symbol Pro speakers are fitted effective magnetic shielding, enabling you to place
them directly next to a television set without causing interference to the picture.
