30. Why does the player not save the volume setting when

being turned off?

– Actually, the player does remember the volume setting, but to

avoid any hearing damage, the volume will automatically be tur-

ned down to 60 % from the upper level.

31. How can I upgrade the player firmware?

– 1. Download the newest firmware version (highest version num

ber) at www.maxfield.de to your computer hard disk.

2. Unpack the ZIP file into a folder. Please make sure that the

directory structure (folder, subfolders) in the ZIP file remains as

it is.

3. Install the „Firmware Download” software to your Windows

PC and, after successful installation, start the program via

Start > Programs > Portable Media Player > Firmware Down

load.

4. Connect the player with your PC via USB and, after device

detection, upgrade the operating system of the player by the

clicking the „Start” button in the „Firmware Download” program.

— Caution: Do not disconnect the player from PC during upgrading

process.

32. How to play WMA and DRM protected files?

– WMA files “can” have DRM protection. In this case the file con

tent is encrypted with a key. For playback and decoding it is

necessary to have DRM license files on your computer. DRM

license can limit your rights for using these functions. For in-

stance, it can allow only to playback and prohibit conversion into

other formats. When you download music from the internet sites

that require you to pay per song, these licenses may be included

with the download.

In order to play these encrypted WMA files with your player, you

will need to use the Windows Media Player to copy them to your

player. The traditional “Drag & Drop” method will not work.

Here is what you have to do:

1) Open your WMA file using your Windows Media Player

2) Click “Sync.” and “Start Synchron.” in Windows Media

Player.

3) Select “MTP Player“ as your device.

If you don’t have a Windows Media Player or if your version of

Windows Media Player is outdated, you can download the latest

version for free from Microsoft’s website:

www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/

– Some download services like Yahoo music or Napster To Go just

‚rent‘ their DRM music to the user. For this content your player

must be connected after special time intervalls like 1 month to

your PC to renew the license, otherwise you cannot play the

music on your portable device any more. Please refer to the docu-

mentation of or your contract with your music download service.

33. Why does the screen displays nothing after turning on the

player?

– Check if the battery is low and needs to be charged: recharge the

battery.

– Try to reset the player by using the reset hole and turn on the

player again.
