•HolddowntheDECALC/HARDNESSbutton and

by brieﬂy pressing the M button  set the desired

level of water hardness. The hardness level will be

shown in the display.

•Onceyouhavesetthedesiredlevelofhardnesslet

go of the DECALC/HARDNESS button . Your

settings are now saved.

Please note:

•Waterhardnesscannotbeprogrammedwhilebrewing.

•Thelastwaterhardnesslevelchosenremainseven

after removing the power cable.

4. Making coffee

For aromatic coee ﬂavour and the best ﬁt for your

ﬁlter bag in the ﬁlter holder, we recommend using

Melitta

ﬁlter bag 1x4

4.1. Brewing coffee

•Ensurethattheapplianceisconnectedtoapower

source.

•Removethedetachablewatertankbyholdingthe

recessed grip and pulling straight up .

•Removethewatertanklidandllwiththedesired

amount of fresh water from the tap. Using the water

level indicator on the tank you can choose the

correct number of cups.

Small cup symbol = approx. 85ml coee per cup,

large cup symbol = approx. 125 ml coee per cup .

•Closethetankbyreplacingthelidandinsertthe

tank back in the appliance. Please ensure that you

replace the tank upright in the appliance. The guide

rails on the appliance (left of the tank) will help you

with this .

•Swiveltheltertotherightandremoveitfrom

the holder . You can now conveniently rest the

ﬁlter on your kitchen worktop.

•FoldaMelitta

ﬁlter bag 1x4

at the embossed seams

and place in the ﬁlter holder. Press the ﬁlter bag into

the ﬁlter holder by hand, to ensure the best ﬁt .

•Putthegroundcoeeintothelterbag.Theamount

depends on your personal taste. We recommend

using 6 g of ground coee per large cup.

•Putthelterbackintoitsholder.Forthishangrst

the eyelet of the ﬁlter on the top of the swivel arm

and afterwards press the round base into the clip. An

audible click tells you it is inserted properly .

•Swivelthelterbackintotheapplianceandplacethe

therm jug with closed lid  in the appliance .

•Turntheapplianceon. The green LED lights up

and brewing begins.

•Tofullydeveloptheavourofyourcoeeevenwhen

preparing less than 6 cups, the Melitta

AromaElegance

Therm models are ﬁtted with the Aroma Control

feature as standard. So even when preparing small

quantities of coee you get the best aromatic coee

experience. When making 2-5 cups press the START

button  for longer than two seconds. The green

LED ﬂashes and brewing begins.

•Theapplianceturnsofautomaticallyshortafter

brewing. This avoids the unnecessary use of electric-

ity and saves energy. You can of course turn the

appliance o manually at any time.

•Thedripstoppreventsyourcoeefromdripping,

when you remove the pot from the appliance .

•Withthehelpofthedetachablelteryoucan

dispose of the coee ﬁlter bag simply and easily .

4.2. Timer feature (ONLY Melitta

AromaElegance

Therm DeLuxe)

The appliance is ﬁtted with a timer. This allows you to

set a time at which brewing will automatically begin.

•Preparetheapplianceasdescribedinpoint4.1. brewing

coee, but without pressing the START button.

•TosetthedesiredstarttimeholddowntheTIMER

button  and press the H and M buttons  repeatedly

to set the desired start time. This goes faster if you

hold down the H and M buttons. The ﬁrst time you

programme it, the display will show 00:00.

•AfterlettinggooftheTIMERbutton,thecurrent

time will show. The chosen start time is saved until

you set a dierent time or remove the appliance

from the power source.

•BybrieypressingtheTIMERbuttonagain,thetimer

feature is activated for the next brewing process.

To show this, the white LED  lights up and the

programmed start time shows brieﬂy in the display.

•IfyouwishtoactivatetheAroma Control for the

programmed brewing, then press the START button

 for longer than two seconds. Now as well as the

white LED, a green LED  will light up.

•Theapplianceautomaticallystartstomakethe

coee at the time you have set.

•BypressingtheTIMERbuttonagain,thetimer

feature can be deactivated at any time.

The white LED goes o .

•Ifyouwanttomakecoeebeforetheprogrammed

start time then press the START button . The

timer feature will then be deactivated.

5. Using the insulated pot

•Thebrewedcoeeowsthroughthecentralvalvein

the insulated lid of the pot.

•Topourcoeepressdownonthesealinglever.

•Removethelidsimplybypressingthesealsonthe

side while lifting the lid up .

6. Cleaning and maintenance

External cleaning

•Thehousingcanbecleanedwithasoftdampcloth.

•Thejuglid,thelterinsertandtheswivelltercan

be washed in the dishwasher.

Descaling

Based on the water hardness level you have set

(see point 3) the descaling programme should be run

promptly after the DECALC/HARDNESS button 

lights up. The descaling programme is only available

when the descaling display lights up.

•Followthemanufacturersinstructionsregarding

amounts and pour the descaler into the water tank.

We recommend using Melitta® "Anti Calc Liquid for

Filter Coffee & Aqua Machines".

•BrieypresstheDECALC/HARDNESSbutton.
