Use
These pumps are designed for the transport of wat er , for the operation
of fi lter sy stems,w ater displa ys, wat erfalls, etc., as well as f or oxygenating and circulating the w ater .
Area of application: garden ponds, fi shponds, outdoor and patio fountains! (see fi g. 1 + 2)
- Attention! Use in garden ponds and their pr otected z one is permit ted only if the installation is
performed in compliance with the applicable regulations. Please consult a licensed electrician.
- Before performing any work on the pump, the f ountain, or the pond, disconnect the mains
plug. Do not operate the pump if people are in the water! (disconnect the pump from the power
source)
Area of application: swimming pond or swimming pool (if people are in the water)! (see fi g. 3 + 4)
Pump suitable for installation and operat ion in syst ems and rooms ac cording to DIN VDE 0100 P ar t 702 and
Part 737, if the erection requirements per DIN VD E 100 and the manufacturer’s specifi cations
(assembly and operating instructions) are follo wed.
Installation of these pumps at s wimming ponds or swimming pools must comply with the following
standards: DIN EN 13451 P art 1 to Part 8, and DIN VDE 0100 Part 702 and Part 737.
Attention! Here operation of the pump is permitted only if the pump is permanently installed outside
of the water at least 2 m or more awa y from the pool.
The following measur es must be undertaken: (see fi g. 3)
- Build a shaft with pedestal for the pump, at least 2 m away from the edge of the water .
- Protect the shaft with a cov er.
- T o protect the pump from fl ooding build a drain for the shaft.
- Attach the pump to the pedestal with scre ws.
- Install a “M” metal socke t in the suction line, t oward the pump, t o connect to the equipotential bonding
of the swimming pond/swimming pool s ystem!
- Please consult a licensed electrician. Also ref er to “Non submersible use” and “ Safe ty Measures. ”
Safety measures
- Before use : Check whether mains lead and plug are intact.
- Mains voltage and kind of current ha ve t o conform to the informa tion on the type plate .
- The pump may only be connected to a proper earthing-contact type socket through a residual
current device (RCD, 30 mA).
- The connection box should be located in a water -protected area and at least 2 m away from the
edge of the water (see fi g. 1 + 2).
- Alwa ys k eep the plug dry .
- Important! If the mains lead or the motor housing are damaged , the pump cannot be used anymor e. It
cannot be repaired since the lead is permanently encapsula ted in the mot or housing.
- Do nev er hang up or transport the pump by the mains lead.
Start-up (see fi g. 1 - 4)
Important! Do not let the pump run „dry“. This could cause damages to the appliance.
- Immerse the pump completely in y our pond. This causes the pump body to be fi lled with wat er.
- A minimum wat er depth of 25 cm is required f or underwater operation t o avoid t he pump taking in air .
- The maximum depth for submerged operation of the
2 m
pump is 2 m!
- The wat er temperatur e may not e xceed 35°C.
- The pump must be protect ed from frost.
- The pump is switched on by putting the plug in the sock et.
- T o prevent the pump becoming unnecessarily dirty , place it above t he sludge deposits in your pond, in a
fi rm and horizontal position (on a st one slab)!
- A range of accessories may be fi tted onto the thr eaded connections of the pump.
GB
- TIP! The primary fi lt ers Ø 120 Art.-No. 168/0091 37 to 168/009 140 ma y be used as intake protection
in cle ar wat er .
- The pressure duct can be mounted on top or on t he side depending on the particular y implementation!
T o do this loosen the screw s (20) and turn the entire pump (10) to the desir ed position.
- Suitable fountain jets can be found in our range of accessoires (catalog).
“Non submersible use” (see fi g. 3 + 4)
The pump can be used in a nonsubmerged type application.
- Position the pump belo w the sur face of the wat er , at the side of the pond so that the w ater can fl ow into the
pump (no t self-priming).
- Connect suction hose (S) and pressure hose (D) to the pump. Connection should be wa ter tight.
- Suction hose and pump must be fi lled with wat er before switching-on.
- TIP! T o prevent the pump becoming clogged, pro vide the suction hose with a pre fi lter
Art.-No. 168 / 009050, 1 68 / 009051 or 1 68 / 009052 c ov ered in our range of accessories.
Overload protection
In case the pump is becoming overhe ated the built -in thermal overload trip switches it off .
The pump must cool down.
The pump will not start automatically without the necessary controlling when it is cool.
Check the following opera ting conditions:
- Is there a suffi cient wa ter supply?
- Has the fi lter become clogged?
- Has dirt entered the pump housing (Follo w the cleaning instructions below)?
- Hav e hoses or jets become clogged?
- Has the pump cooled down?
As soon as you ha ve solv ed the problems, you can switch on the pump again b y pulling the plug out of the
socket and putting it in again after a short time (1 min.)
Dismantling (see fi g. 5)
1. F ollow the safe ty measures. Disconnect pump from mains!
2. Loosen the 4 scr ews (18).
3. Pull apart pump housing (12) and motor housing (10) .
4. Remo ve rotor assembly (15) from mot or housing (10). T ake care of the O-ring (16) on the motor
housing (10).
5. Clean all parts with clear wa ter and a soft sponge. Not e! In case of massive calcination ple ase use
MES SNER decalcifi er for pumps Art.-No. 168 / 009 1 15.
Assembly (see fi g. 5)
1. Push the O-ring (16) onto the starting point on the motor housing (10).
2. Car efully slide the rot or assembly (15) into the motor housing (10) and twist the bearing cover so tha t
the two holes fi t ont o the pins on the motor housing (10).
3. Check whether t he rotor assembly can be rota ted easily .

Maintenance
In order to prolong the service life of your pump signifi cantly and to k eep it in sound operating condition, it is
recommended to carry out maintenance and cleanup regularly .
This can be done by ev er yone, quickly and e asily . See „Dismantling/Assembly“
Servicing inter vals
- In the beginning check proper performance of your pump ev er y day . If necessar y , clean the fi lters.
- Since servicing inter vals (complete cle aning) will vary depending on the level of pond pollution, r epeat the
periodic service to your pump in accordance with the pollution of the pond water .
Should you det ermine that there are damaged or worn parts , replace them. See „Spare parts“
Important! When used in calcareous water , the rotor assembly (15) and the stainless steel can split
tube in the motor housing (1 0) should be cleaned at regular inter vals.
Pump care in wintertime
Protect your pump from freezing-up!
T ake the pump out of your pond in autumn. Clean t he pump completely according to the instructions.
During the winter months st ore the pump in a tank fi lled with wa ter to prev ent the bearings from drying out.
Store the tank in a frostpr oof room.
