T o redial the last number:
Press “F orward” button for 3 seconds in or der to redial the last number (y ou will
hear one audio conrmation tone).
T o make a voic e call:
Briey press “F orward” butt on. If your mobile phone supports voice calls, you will
be asked to speak the name of the con tact you wish to call.
Priority: Calls have a high priority , which means that all other comm unications are
temporar ily disabled when a call arrives and aut omatically re-enabled once the call
ends.
Ending a call in both Phone/Intercom mode
There ar e several wa ys to end a call:
› Wait f or the called person to end the call.
› Press the “F orward” butt on (you will hear an audio conrmation t one).
› Press “E nd” button on the mobile phone .
Using the MP3 play er feature of the mobile phone only Phone mode
Many mobile phones are now designed t o be used as stereo MP3 play ers. The
BTX2 device fully supports the A2DP and A VRCP protocols that enable y ou to listen
to stereo music and r emotely contr ol your mobile phone’ s MP3 player . Y ou can
even use the buttons on the BTX2 unit to con trol the following play options: Pla y ,
Pause , Forward and Backward .
Available c ontrols:
› T o play/pause music: click on the “ Middle” butt on.
› T o skip forward to the next song: press the “F orward” butt on.
› T o skip backwar ds to the previous song: press the “Rear ” button..
Priority: the music listening mode has the lowest priority . Ther efor e, it will always
be disabled when another type of communication is enabled .
How to pair the BTX2 to a GPS
In general is possible to pair the BTX2 to all the GPS for motorbik e that support
Bluetooth headset connection.
T o pair the BTX2 to a GPS, y ou must rst enter the setup mode:
1. T urn o the unit
2. Press and hold down the “Middle” button about 7 sec., until the Red light is
on permanently .
3. Now press rmly (3 sec) the “V olume +” butt on, the Blue and Red light will ash.
4. Enable the Bluetooth device search f eature on your GPS
5. After some seconds , “Midland BTX2” will be displa yed on your GPS.
6. Follow the pairing pr ocedure of y our GPS. If a pin code is requested you must
enter “0000” (four times zero).
7. When successfully pair ed, the Blue light of the unit will be on for one second
and then the unit will exit the setup mode and switch to the w orking mode
(the Blue light will start ashing).
When you pair the GPS to the V olume + button, y ou loose the possibility to pair
the phone to the BTX2 unit. Y ou can ov ercome this limit by pairing the phone
directly to the GPS and then the GPS to the BTX2 unit. All the phone fea tures are
therefore managed b y the GPS itself.
GPS navigator alw ays in background
T o k eep the intercom open while the GPS giv e the street indication you must ha ve
the “back ground” f eature active.
How to pair PMR446 transceiv er with integrat ed Bluetooth
If your PMR446 trasceiv er has an integrat ed Bluetooth (like the G8BT), you must
pair the trasceiver using the “ V olume +“ button:
› T urn o the unit
› Press and hold down the “ Middle” button about 7 sec., until the Red light is
on permanently .
› Now press rmly (3 sec) the “V olume +” button, the Blue and Red light will
ash.
› Follow now the pairing pr ocedure explained on the manual of the transc eiver
itself
Attention: If you ar e pairing to a G8BT tr ansceiv er , just when the BTX2 nish the
pairing (only the Blu LED is ashing) you must follow this pr ocedur e to activate the
Bluetooth connection:
› T urn o and on the G8BT and then press for 3 sec . the “BT” butt on.
› Follow the same pr ocedure every time you need to r econnect the G8BT to the
BTX2 (no need to make the pairing pr ocedure again)
Attention: r emember to have the “backgr ound” feature active if y ou want to keep
the two way r adio communication t ogether with the interc om.
How to use the wir ed audio input
Y our Midland BTX2 is also supplied with a wired audio input ( AUX), that can
be used to connect an audio source, lik e an iPod ( or any other MP3 Player) or a
PMR446 transceiver for gr oup communication or for a cov erage increase.
Listening to music
T o listen t o music from the wired input , connect the audio source using the op-
tional AUX cable.
The volume butt ons (Vol + and V ol -) cannot be used to adjust the volume of the
wired audio sourc e. The AGC syst em with automatically increase the v olume on
higher speed.
Attention: never set the v olume of the MP3 Player to the maxim um possible. Nor-
mally the best level is about the 70% of the maximum.
Hint: W e recommend that y ou per form a few tests adjusting the volume of y our
iPod/MP3 pla yer so at the normal speed the Headset v olume is suited to your
needs. The A GC system will automatically incr ease the volume on higher speed.
Make a note to r emember this setting for future trips .
Enabling/disabling the wired input
If needed the wired input can be enabled or disabled:
Enabling/Disabling: Make a Long pr ess on the “Rear” butt on (you will hear one
audio beep tone for enabling conrmation and two audio beep t one for disa-
bling).
Using a PMR446 transceiv er with the cable connec tion
In order to connect the transceiv er to your Midland BTX2, you need to pur chase
the specic 2.5mm plug AUX cable, sold separa tely . S
ome manufacturers radios use a dierent pin c onguration, so we r ecommend
that you ask y our dealer as to which cable is best suited to your needs
The cable connected to the transc eiver normally has also a PTT button that can
be placed on the handlebar of your bik e or held in your hand (If you ar e the pas-
sanger rider).
T o communicat e via the attached radio , press the PTT button to speak and r elease
it to listen. It is not possible to talk and list en simultaneously .
Adjust the volume of the transc eiver to your needs , remembering that the v olume
adjustment is contr olled by the automatic A GC system and that it will therefor e
be automatically increased in r elation to backgr ound noise.
If you wish to use a PMR446 transc eiver for group communica tions and simulta-
neously maintain the Inter com feature enabled between two or mor e BTX2 devi-
ces, y ou must remember that every time you talk to communica te with the PMR
446 transceiver (pr essing the PTT button), you will also activate the in tercom of
the BTX2 to the unit connected to the “ Middle” butt on (thanks to the VOX fea ture).
T o av oid the Interc om activation when you speak on the PMR446, you can decide
to pair the BTX2 unit on the “Rear” or “For ward” (where the VO X is not active) or
if you still want t o use the “Middle ” button, y ou must disable the VOX featur e, as
explained in the previous section.
Attention! If you disable the VOX featur e, y ou will only be able to answer incoming
phone calls by pr essing the “Forwar d” button.
Setup and special configurations
Resetting all paired devices
Sometimes you may nd it necessary to delete all the pairing refer ences stored in
the BTX2 unit (reset operation).
T o perform this operation you must rst ent er the setup mode:
› T urn o the unit
› Press and hold down the “ Middle” button about 7 sec., until the Red light is
on permanently .
› Than simultaneously press and hold down the “ V olume +” and “ Volume –“
buttons for 3 seconds. T he Blue Light will be lit on for 1 sec and than back
to steady RED .
› Double click on the “Middle” button to exit the “Setup ” mode and use the B TX2.
This proc edure deletes all the paired Bluetooth devic es stored in the memory and
it is therefore possible t o start a new “ clean ” pairing session.
Back to factory setting
Sometimes you may nd it necessary to go back to the factory setting, to reset all
the changes/setup already made and hav e a “ clean ” unit .
T o perform this operation you must rst ent er the setup mode:
› T urn o the unit
› Press and hold down the “ Middle” button about 7 sec., until the Red light is
on permanently .
› Than simultaneously press and hold down all the thr ee buttons “F orward”-
“Middle”-“Rear” f or 3 seconds. The Blue Light will be lit on for 1 sec and than
back to steady RED .
› Double click on the “Middle” button to exit the “Setup ” mode and use the B TX2.
Adjusting/ Disabling the V OX feature (Int ercom and telephone)
The Inter com feature can be enabled both manually and v ocally (VOX). T he V OX
activation is inuenced by the backgr ound noise and therefor e by the speed.
For optimum r esults, it is possible to choose one of the following four micr ophone
sensitivity levels: high, medium, low and very low . The default setting of BTX2 is
“low” . It is also possible to disable the VOX fea ture in order to activat e the Inter-
com and phone call answering featur es in manual mode only .
Adjusting the sensitivity of the microphone (VOX)
T o perform this operation you must rst ent er the setup mode:
1. T urn o the unit
2. Press and hold down the “Middle” button about 7 sec., until the Red light is
on permanently .
3. Y our BTX2 is now in “Set up mode ” .
