Motorol a. Please avoid le aving any s uppleme ntary item s like SI M cards. Th e
Product should also be acco mpanied by a label w ith your name, add ress, and
telephone number; name of operator and a descr iption of the proble m. In the
case of vehicu lar installa tion, the vehicle in whi ch t he Personal Com municator is
install ed should b e driven to the Auth orised Re pair or S ervice Cen tre, as

concerni ng the m aintenance of the Prod ucts by M otorola A uthorised Service
Centres only , the refore it i s importan t to keep a record of a ny previous repairs,

This warr anty will not apply if the type or s erial number s on the Product h ave
been altere d, deleted, du plicated , r emoved, or ma de illegibl e. M otorola re serves
the righ t to refu se free-o f-charge war ranty serv ice if the requested
document ation can not be presen ted or if the inf ormati on is in complete , ill egible
or incom patible wi th the fac tory reco rds.
Repair , at Motorol a's option , may in clude ref lashing o f softwar e, the
replacem ent of p arts or bo ards with function ally equi valent, re conditione d or
new part s or boar ds. Replac ed part s, accesso ries, batte ries, or b oards are
warrant ed for th e balance of the ori ginal wa rranty tim e period. The W arranty
T e rm will not be exte nded. All original accessor ies, batte ries, parts , and
Personal Commun icator eq uipment th at have b een replace d shall be come the
propert y of Motor ola. Moto rola does not warra nt the ins tallation, m aintena nce
or servic e of the pr oducts, ac cessori es, batteri es or part s.
Motorola will not be respon sible in a ny way f or problem s or dama ge cause d by
any anci llary equip ment not furnishe d by Motor ola whi ch is atta ched to or used
in conne ction wit h the Prod ucts, or for opera tion of Mo torola equ ipment with
any anci llary equip ment and all such equipmen t is expre ssly exclud ed from th is
warran ty .

When the Product i s used in conjunc tion with a ncillary or periphe ral equipm ent
not supp lied by Motorola, Motorol a does not warrant the operat ion of the
Product /peripheral combin ation and Motorola will not h onour any warranty
claim where the Product is used in such a co mbination and it is determin ed by
Motorola that th ere is n o fault w ith the Product. Motoro la speci fically disclaims
any resp onsibilit y for any damage, whether or not to M otorola e quipment ,
caused in any w ay by the use of the Personal Commu nicator , accessories,
softwar e applicati ons and p eripherals (specific e xamples include, but are not
limit ed to: bat teries, ch argers, ada pters, and power sup plies) w hen such
access ories, soft ware appl ication s and perip herals are not manuf actured and
suppli ed by Motor ola.
WHA T IS NOT COV ERED BY THE W ARRANTY
This wa rranty is not vali d if the de fects are d ue to dam age, mis use, tamp ering,
neglec t or lack of care and in case of alterations or repair carried ou t by
unautho rised per sons.
The foll owing are examples of defects or damag e not cove red by th is product
warrant y:
1 Defects or damage resulti ng from use of the Pro duct in o ther than i ts
normal and custo mary ma nner .
2 Defects or dama ge from m isuse, ac cess to i ncompat ible sour ces, accid ent
or negl ect.
3 Defects or damage from im proper te sting, op eration, maintena nce,
install ation, adj ustment, unauthori sed softwa re appli cations or any
alteratio n or mod ification of any kind .
4 Breakage or damag e to anten nas unle ss caused directly b y defects in
materi al or work manship .
5 Product s d isassemb led or repaire d o ther than by Moto rola in such a m anner
as to a dversely a ffect perfo rmance or prevent adequate inspec tion and
testing to verify any warran ty claim.
6 Defects or dama ge due to range , coverag e, avai lability , grade o f service, or
operatio n of the c ellular s ystem by the cellul ar operato r .
7 Defects or damage due to mo isture, li quid or spil ls of food.

12 P erio dic mainte nance an d repair or replaceme nt of parts due to no rmal

recharg eable bat tery for you r Persona l Comm unicator w ill depe nd on usag e
conditi ons and ne twork conf igurations . As a co nsumabl e product, t he
specific ations in dicate tha t you sh ould be able to ob tain opti mum perf ormance
for your Motorola Personal Communi cator with in the firs t six month s from da te
of purcha se and u p to (20 0) charg es (Opti mum Per formance T ime) .
The warr anty for Motorola recharge able batte ries becom es void if (i) the
batteries are char ged other than by Mo torola app roved batt ery charg ers
specif ied for the charging of th e battery , (ii) any of the seals on the batter y are
broken or show evi dence of tamperi ng, (iii) the battery is us ed in equipment or
service other than the cell ular tele phone equi pment for which it is speci fied.
Dependi ng on op erating co nditions and your usage hab its, wear and tear might
take pl ace of com ponents including m echani cal probl ems rela ted to Prod uct
housin g, paint, as sembly , sub-asse mblies, di splays a nd keyboard s and any
access ories whic h are not part of the Product's in-box co nfiguratio n. The
rectif ication o f faults generate d through wear a nd tear an d the us e of
consum able item s like bat teries bey ond their Optimum P erformanc e T ime as
indica ted in the product ma nual is c onsidered to be your responsibi lity and
therefo re Motoro la will n ot provide the free Warran ty repair s ervice f or these
items.
