15. Modem for telecommunication with the cash register
Use an analogue standard modem (e.g. ACER 56 surf)
Installation:
- Connect the modem to a Com port on your computer.
- On your desktop (PC), click on the icon “Olympia Manager“ or “Olympia Helper“
- Select “Properties” with the left mouse button.
- In the window which then opens, go to “Connections” and complete the line “Destination” with the
parameter /SETMOD there must be a space in front of this parameter.
“C:\Programme\Olympia Manager\SERDM.exe“ /SETMOD
- Confirm with “OK“
- Now you can start the “Olympia Helper“ or “Olympia Manager“.
- Open an already available file.
- Click on “File“
- Click on “Setup“
- Click on “Modem“
- Click on “Connect ECR with Modem”
- New select your „COM PORT“. (Usually Com 1)
- Now enter the telephone number of your Modem connection (With an extension, you need to enter the
code for an outside line first. In most cases, this is “0“.
- Click now on the dialling procedure “Tone“ or “Pulse“. In most cases this is “Tone“.
Do not change any of the other values, as they are all factory settings.
- Now click on “Connect modem with ECR…”
- The window “Setup“ opens with the message “Modem Com” found at Com “MD56xxOK“
- “Connect with ECR?“
- Confirm with “Yes“
- Now a window opens “Setup“ Connection successful.
- Confirm with “OK“
- The Modem is now programmed for the connection with your cash register.
- Connect the modem to the port “COM A“ on your cash register.
- In order to programme the port „COM A“, proceed as follows:
Turn the operating mode key to ”PRG“
enter 23and press the key [KV#].
Enter 03 (CM 1840) and press the [KV#] key.
Enter 01 and press the [BAR] key.
Enter 31 and press the [BAR] key.
Enter 00 and press the [BAR] key..
Now end the programming with the [KV#] key
Turn the operating mode key to “REG“
- Now connect the second modem to your PC.
- Click on “Test Communication”.
- || Now a setup window “ First ECR Modem” connection opens.
- Confirm with ”OK“.
- Now the connection between the two modems is set up.
- After the connection has been successfully set up, the information: “Connection baud rate 38400“
- Confirm with ”OK“
- Now a setup window “Connected” opens.
- Confirm with ”OK“
- Now a window “test communication” opens
- Confirm with “close” because this is a service test which takes a long time.
You can now send and receive data. In the header of the “Olympia Manager“ or “Olympia Helper“ you now find
two new icons, “call” and “disconnect”.
