Searching for Y our Code
If your TV or VCR does not respond to the SO EASY after tr ying all
the codes listed for your brand, try searching for your code:
T urn on your TV (or VCR).
Press the TV (or VCR) key on the SO EASY .
Then, press and hold the MAGIC key until the
light blinks twice (the light will blink once
then twice).
Next, press the Programme- key three times.
Alternate between TV and POWER until your
T elevision turns off (or between VCR and
POWER until your Video turns off).Y ou may
have to press these keys many times, so be
patient. Remember , you must aim the SO EASY
at your device the entire time you are
searching for your code.
When your device turns off, press and release
MAGIC. Don’t forget, press MAGIC as soon as
your device turns off.
The SO EASY is now ready to run your device. When you want to
control your device, press the device key first.
Important notes:
- T o search for the code for your Video Recorder , follow the same
instructions above, only press the VCR key during steps 2 and 4.
- If your Video’ s original remote control does not have a power
key , press PLA Y instead of POWER when searching for your code.
- During step 4, you may have to press these keys many times (up
to 150!), so be patient. Remember , you must aim the SO EASY at
your device the entire time you are searching for your code.
Code Blink Out
After you have used the Search Method, you can find out which
code the SO EASY is using by blinking back the code. It’ s handy to
know your T elevision or Video code for future reference. Remember ,
you can only blink back your code after the SO EASY is operating
your TV or VCR.
T o blink out your code:
Press the TV (or VCR) key on the SO EASY .
Then, press and hold the MAGIC key until the
light blinks twice (the light will blink once
then twice).
Next, press Programme-, Programme-,
Programme+.
For the first digit of your 5-digit code, press
V olume+ and count the red blinks.
For the second digit, press Volume- and count
the red blinks.
For the third digit, press Programme+ and
count the red blinks.
For the fourth digit, press Programme- and
count the red blinks.
For the fifth digit, press PLA Y and count the
red blinks.
Now you have your 5-digit code. Write your code in the boxes
provided previously for easy future reference.
Important notes:
- T o blink out the code for your Video Recorder , follow the same
instructions above, only press the VCR key during step 1.

remote control (URC-2530). Y our SO EASY package contains:

THE SO EASY User Guide & Code Book
The User Guide & Code Book explains in simple steps how to set up
and operate your new universal remote control. Y ou may need this
guide again in the future, so please be sure to keep it.
Y our SO EASY needs two new “AAA/LRO3” batteries.
Y our SO EASY is designed to let you use one remote to operate your
T elevision and Video Recorder . The illustration below and the chart
on the next page describe the features and functions of the SO EASY
universal remote control.
Features and Functions
Key Function
LED LED
The LED (Light Emitting Diode) flashes red to show
the remote is working.
MAGIC
The MAGIC key is used to set up your SO EASY and to
access special features.
Power
The Power key controls the same features as your
original remote control.
Device Keys
The TV and VCR keys select the home entertainment
device to be controlled. For example, pressing the TV
key allows the remote to control the functions of your
T elevision. After pressing VCR, you can operate your
Video Recorder .
V olume, Programme +/
-
The V olume and Pr ogramme keys control the two
most frequently used functions of your devices. They
operate just as those on your original remote contr ol.
These keys are also used to set up your device.
Video Recorder Keys
After pressing the VCR key , the Video Recorder keys
operate the functions of your Video Recorder .
T o prevent accidental recording, the Record key must
be pressed twice.
The SO EASY needs two new AAA/LRO3 alkaline batteries.
Remove the battery cover from the back of
the SO EASY .
Match the batteries to the +/- marks inside
the battery case, then insert the batteries.
Press the battery cover back into place.
Important note:
- In order to avoid having to reprogramme your SO EASY after you
remove the batteries, you will need to insert new batteries within
15 minutes. Also, it is best that you do not use r echargeable
batteries.
T o set up the SO EASY for your T elevision and Video Recorder:
T urn on your TV (or VCR).
Find your T elevision code in the Set-Up Code
section (see reverse). Codes are listed by brand
name. The most popular codes are listed first.
Press and release the TV (or VCR) key on the
SO EASY . Then pr ess and hold the MAGIC key
until the light blinks twice (the light will blink
once then twice).
Enter your 5-digit code according to the
chart below . The red light will blink twice.
V olume+ = 1
V olume- = 2
Programme+ = 3
Programme- = 4
Now , aim the SO EASY at your Television and
press POWER . If your T elevision switches off,
your SO EASY is ready to operate your
T elevision.
Important notes:
- T o set up your Video Recorder , follow the same instructions
above, only press the VCR key during step 3.
- If your device does not respond, follow steps 1-5 with each code
listed for your brand. If none of the codes listed for your brand
operate your device, follow the Search Method described in the
next section. The Search Method can be used even if your brand
is not listed at all.
- Remember , to control your device after you have programmed it
with the SO EASY , you must press the device key first (TV or VCR).
- Write the codes for your TV and VCR in the boxes provided for
easy future reference.
