Y ou can program an y key on your OF A remote (ex cept MA GIC, DEVICES and the three App

for contr olling multiple devices to put them in a certain state – for instance y ou could put
your T V on HDMI 1 and press Play on the Blu-ray play er to start watching a movie. A key
programmed with a Macro will send the same Macro r egardless of the device mode , so it
is best to select a key you don ’t use, or use one of the spar e A, B or C keys.
T o program a macro , the procedure is as follows:
1. Hold down MAGIC until the LED under the device blinks twice .
The LED under the current mode key will stay lit.

7. T o store the Macro, hold down the M AGIC key until the LED blinks
twice.
* Remember to press the keys in the same order you would using your original remot es – so if you pressed A V on the TV
remote and then Play on the Blu-ra y remote to watch a movie , do it in the same order on the Smart Control.
* I f the LED shows a long blink when y ou press a key in steps 3 or 4, you hav e entered too many key s, please try again.

the procedure “Program a Macro ” . Next time you use the Activity , the Macro will be sent 3

VOLUME L OCK
The Smart Control featur es 3 App Shortcut keys for viewing digital T V , streamed over the
internet. If your original remote con trol already had a key f or this - for example many new er
T V s have a Netfl ix key - then this key will per form exactly the same as the key on your
original remote. Ho wever if y ou did not have a key like this, but still had the ability to wa tch
a streaming service, you can use this key as a shortcut by programming a macr o on it. Most
A V devices which are connected to the internet, such as Smart TVs or streaming Set T op
Boxes ha ve one or more applications they can run to ac cess T V viewing via the internet.
Examples of these would be Netfl ix, Y ouT ube, Amazon Prime, BBC iPla yer or similar .
T o program the macro , you fi rst need to know the device you use to access the service, and
then the sequence of keys you need to pr ess to always bring up the service you pref er , For
example, some P anasonic TVs will start Netfl ix by pressing the Apps key, then Menu Down
T wice, and fi nally the OK key. Or on an Apple T V , the sequence is Menu, Menu Down and OK.
Once you hav e determined the sequence for your devic e, follo w these steps:
1. Sit in fr ont of your device with It switched on (not on standby)
2.
Hold down the App Shortcut key until the LED blinks twice and stays lit
3. Use the DEVICES key to select the device you want to use for the
App Shortcut
macro (e.g . TV )
4. Now per form the sequence of key s exactly as would normally .
The remot e will operate your devic e and the macro is recor ded in
real time - so if it normally takes a few seconds for your device to
react don’ t worry.
5. One you have fi nished the sequence - and the Str eaming Ser vice
has started on your device - hold down the
App Shortcut
key until
the LED blinks twice and goes out. The macro is now st ored.
Tips
• Make sure the Smart Control Is operating the device in question bef ore programming
• I f you fi nd the Macro doesn’t w ork as expected, you can just repeat the same
sequence to repr ogram
• When programming, wait f or your device to respond fi rst, the remote will remember
the timing
• The
App Shortcut
macro is tied to one device , remember to make sure y ou are
watching the correct device.

T o access the Activities, simply press the A CTIVIT Y key to scroll through until the desir ed

INPUT Shift
As the INPUT key is intended to select the input on your T V and most T V s use a menu to
