DIGITAL TIME SWITCH
ASTRO LOG
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
DESCRIPTION
ASTRO LOG + is a time switch designed to control lighting ba sed on sunrises and
sunsets hours. Includes a programme which automatically adjusts, every day, the
turning on (sunset) and off (sunrise) of lights, without th e need of maintenan ce.
The reduced size of the time sw itch, only tw o mudules, makes i t ideal for
installation in control panel s with limited space availability. The dev ice includes tw o
independent circuits that can be programmed w ith astronomic or with fixed times.
INSTALLA TION
ATTENTION: Electrical devices must be installed and a ssembled by authori zed
installer.
DISCONECT THE MAINS SUPPLY BEFORE INSTALLING THE DEVICE.
VERY IMPORTANT: This time switch is protected internally against in terference by
a safety device. How ever, particularly strong electromagnetic fields may alter its
operation. Such interferen ce can be av oided by adhering to the following
recommendations during installation :
- The device should not be installed near inductive loads ( motors,
transformers, con tactors, et c)
- A separate power line is recommended (equipped w ith a network filter if
necessary )
- Inductive loads sh ould be equipped with interference suppressors (varistor,
RC filter)
If the time switch i s to be used in combination with other de vices in an i nstallation,
it is necessary to verify that no par asitic di sturbances will be caused by the group.
MOUNTING: In cabinets provided with 35 mm simetric rail in a ccordance with EN
50022.
CONNECTION:
Connect according w ith the following schema:
STARTING UP AND INSTALLATION
In all the programm ing subclauses, the follow ing rules applies:
- The data to be mo dified is identified by blinking.
- Pressing key s ∆
and ∇, the data is incremen ted or decremented. Kee ping
the key pressed , the ratio o f increment/decrement is fiv e units per second.
- After last da ta has been confirmed by pressing key OK, if no other key is
pressed for 1 minute, the programm returns to normal working mode: the
display shows the current time, date and the state of circuits C1 and C2.
RESET
By pressing at the same time the four keys during 3 seconds, the device loose all
data and goes to m enu LANGUAGE.
LANGUAGE SELECTION
Press OK to en ter MENU LAN GUAJE and w ith keys ∆
and ∇ select the desired
language and validate w ith key “OK”. The device enters to program DATE YEAR.
CLOCK SETTING
For clock se tting, press key “OK” to access to MENU PROGR AM and with keys ∆
and ∇ select MEN U DATE, va lidate with “O K” it enters in DATE YEAR , display
shows blinking the digits of the y ear, update the year by pressing keys ∆
and ∇
and validate it with key “OK”. The sam e operation should be made to update
MONTH, DAY, DAY OF THE WEEK, HOUR, MINUTE and, then validates with
“OK” and the it en ters to ZONE LATITU DE. Introduce the data of the latitude where
the time switch is installed a ccording with the geographic si tuation (see map –
table) and press OK. Then introduce the time for sunrise of the installation situati on
(DAWN), (see map – table) and v alidate with OK, then in the same way with the
time for sunset (DUSK). The time for sunrise and sunset can be di splayed in
normal mode by pressing key “C”, then the di splay shows AST a nd the time for
sunrise and sunset of the curren t day.
CHANGING THE GEOGRAPHIC AREA
If the latitude or the time of sunri se or sunset has to be changed, enter MENU
ZONE and proceed w ith the needed changes in parameters.
PROGRAMMING
In normal mode, press key OK and enter in MENU PROG RAM; pressing again
OK, the display shows PROGRAM ENTER. Press O K and it show s PROGRAM
PROG: 01, if it is intended to pro gramm a sw itching in this po sition then p ress OK
and it shows PROG: 01 ENTER, then press again OK and select the circuit:
C1:ON, C1:OFF, C2:ON and C2 :OFF. Validate the selecti on with OK and then
select the type of sw itching we want to programm: fix ed time, Astronomic for
sunrise time or Astr onomic for sun set time.
FIXED TIME SWITCHING
If the switching sele ction is a fixed time, press OK and programm the hour,
minutes, day or days o f the week by validating or no t, day by day, w hen it is
intended to execu te the sw itching and v alidate with OK. If, w hen validating the la st
day of the w eek, the key OK is kept pressed, the p rogrammed swithing i s
considered as fe stivity; the display shows HOLIDAYS and the sy mbol “ “, and
after validating w ith OK, it show s PROGRAM PROG:02.
ASTRONO MIC TIME SWITCHING
After having sele cted the circuit and the type of switching (C1:ON, C1:OFF, C2:ON
or C2:OFF), then select the desired astronomic switching sunri se or sunset, and
here it is po ssible to co rrect the tim e for sunri se or sunse t (offset). If we agree w ith
the data show n in display, maintain the correction to cero and va lidate hour and
minutes with OK. If w e want to corre ct it (more or less time), programm the
correction time (up to ± 9 hour s 59 minutes), then the di splay show s the time w hen
the astronomic switching will be executed, v alidate with O K and then select the day
or the days of the w eek the sw itching has to be executed. If, when validating the
last day of the week, the key OK is ke pt pressed, the pro grammed swithing i s
considered as fe stivity; the display shows HOLIDAY S and the sy mbol “ “ .
IMPORTANT: If any s witching is prog rammed as FESTIVIT Y, then the
programm HOLIDAYS cannot be used and it is removed from menu
remaining as FESTIVITY peri od.
If several sw itching are programmed in the same circuit, astronomic (sunri se –
sunset) and fix ed times, please observe th at they can overlap as the astronomic
switching times mo ve during the y ear, being possible to pr oduce inappropiate
switchings.
For instance: We w ant to switch on a shop window when sunset (astronomi c
switching) and switch it off at 21 :30 hours (fixed time switching). As the switch on
astronomic switching mov es on during Summer, then there w ill be a day when
sunset is later than 21:30, and then the sw itch on is ex ecuted later than the
switching programmed for switch off, then this off is not ex ecuted and the cir cuit
remains on until the nex t off programmed switching .
This situation can be avoided by conecting in serie s the two circui ts or by
programming an aditional secur ity off switching a t a time later tha n sunset time.
PRIORITY
If two oposite switchings has to be executed at the same moment, ASTRO LOG
always execute the OFF switching .

OK and then it appears ERASE ALL: NO, with ∆
and ∇ select ERASE ALL:Y ES
and acept with OK.
MANUAL OVERRIDE
In normal mode, pressing key ∆ , circuit C1 is a ctivated or deactiv ated. The same
for circuit C2 by using key ∇.
PERMANENT OVERRIDE
Enter in MENU PERMANENT. Validat e with OK and the display shows
PERMANENT C1:YES, with keys ∆
and ∇ select: C1: YES, C1:NO, C2 :YES or
C2:NO, according with the circuit inte nted to a ctivate or deactiv ate in a per manent
way. The selected cir cuit remains in the selected position as far as it is changed in
the sam e way.
If the permanent override i s active, i t is possible to chan ge its state (from ON to
OFF or vice versa) with the manual activ ation key ( C1 ) ( C2), corresponding
to the circuit but ma intaning the permanent state. In this permanent sta te, no
programed switching is ex ecuted. If a circui t is in permanent ov erride state, it is
