Fill in the necessary quantity of coffee.
Use approximately 5 - 7 grams of
medium fine ground coffee per cup or
according to personal preference. If the
coffee is too fine ground, the draining
from the filter can be hindered and it can
overflow.
Connect plug with a safety socket and
switch on. The operation lamp will light
up. The brewing process starts.
After the brewing process the jug can be
removed without coffee dripping from
the filter.
With the warming plate switched on the
coffee is automatically kept at serving
temperature in the glass jug until the
appliance will be switched off.
Observe that the coffee is losing flavour
when it is kept warm for too much time.
Soluble coffee can be used in the filter
without paper.
Prepare tea by hanging the tea bags
into the jug. Put the empty filter into the
filter holder. Used tea bags and paper
filters with coffee can be composted.

Cleaning and maintenance
Disconnect the appliance from the
socket and let the coffeemaker cool
down. Never immerse the appliance in
water. Use a damp cloth with detergent
and rub dry afterwards.
Do not use abrasive or scouring agents.
Filter and glass jug can be cleaned
under running water or in a dish washer.
Decalcification
Calcium deposits result in energy losses
and reduce the service life of the appli-
ance. It switches off early, if the calcium
coating is too thick. It is then difficult to
remove. Please decalcify the appliance
therefore routinely; however, always
after an essentially extended brewing
period or increased noise development.
The following information is a guideline
that refers to daily household use.
Hardness Hardness Decalcifi
range cation
intervals
1 soft 0-7° dH every 6
months
2 medium >7-14° dH every 3
months
3 hard >14-21° dH every 6
weeks
4 very hard >21° dH monthly
1° dH corresponds to aprox. 0.18 mmol/l
Ca and Mg Ions
You can obtain information concerning
the hardness range in your residential
area from the responsible water plant or
the community administration.
We recommend using durgol
®
express.
However, it is very effective and safe for
materials without any additional reaction
period.
You may obtain it where you bought the
appliance; directly from a select dealer
or you can order it directly from petra-
electric.
It must be removed prior to decalcifica-
tion in appliances with an anti-chlorine
filter. Insert the paper filter and place
the carafe into the machine. Fill 1-2
cups of durgol
®
express into the water
tank, fill up to the max mark and switch
on the appliance. Then run a complete
tank full of tap water through for rinsing.
Never use vinegar or vinegar essence,
since materials in the appliance can be
damaged by this.
When using decalcifiers based on citric
acid, settlements can form during
decalcification, which block the calcium
coating or plug up the lines in the appli-
ance. In addition, the decalcification
using citric acid proceeds too slowly – a
complete decalcification can therefore
not be guaranteed.
Caution, warranty compensation does
not exist for damages that occur due to
non-compliance.
