Important

- Never immerse the iron in water .

Caution

- The soleplate of the iron can become extremely hot and may cause
burns if touched.
- When you ha ve nished ironing, when you clean the appliance, when
you ll or empty the water tank and also when y ou leave the iron ev en
for a shor t while: set the steam control to position O , put the iron on its
heel and remov e the mains plug from the wall socket.
- Always place and use the iron on a stab le , level and horizontal surface .
- Do not put perfume , vinegar , starch, descaling agents, ironing aids or
other chemicals in the water tank.
- This appliance is intended for household use only .
Electroma gnetic elds (EMF)

Befor e first use
1 Remo ve any stick er or protectiv e foil from the soleplate.
2 Let the ir on heat up to maximum temperatur e and pass the iron ov er
a piece of damp cloth for sev eral minutes to remo ve any r esidues
from the soleplate.
Preparing f or use
Filling the water tank
Do not put perfume, vinegar , star ch, descaling agents, ir oning aids,
chemically descaled water or other chemicals in the water tank.
1 Switch off the a ppliance and unplug it.
2 Set the steam contr ol to position 0 (= no steam) (Fig. 2).
3 Open thecapofthellingopening.
4 Tilt theironandllthewatertankuptomaximumle velunderthe
tap (Fig. 3).
Note: Do not ll the water tank beyond the MAX indication.
Note: If the tap water in your area is very hard, we advise you to use distilled
water . Do not use c hemically descaled water .
5 Close thecapofthellingopening(‘click’).

- Check the laundr y care label for the required ironing temperature:
If you do not kno w what kind or kinds of fabr ic an ar ticle is made of,
determine the r ight ironing temperature by ironing a par t that will not be
visible when y ou wear or use the ar ticle .
Silk, w oollen and synthetic mater ials: iron the reverse side of the fabr ic to
prevent shin y patches. A void using the spr a y function to prevent stains.
1 T o se t the appropriate ir oning temperature, turn the temperature
dialtotheappr opriateposition(see ‘T emperatur eandsteamsettings
table’)(Fig. 4).
2 Set theappropriatesteamsetting(see ‘T emperatureandsteam
settingstable’).
Note: Mak e sure that the steam setting you select is suitable for the set ir oning
temperatur e .
3 Put the ir on on its heel.
4 Put the mains plug in an ear thed wall sock et.
, The temperature light g oes on.
5 When the temperatur e light goes out, wait a while bef ore y ou star t
ironing.
, During ironing, the temperature light goes on fr om time to time .
This indicates that the iron is heating up to the set temperatur e .
Using the appliance
Note: The iron may give off some smok e when you use it for the rst time.
This stops after a shor t while .
Steam ironing
1 Mak e sure that ther e is enough water in the water tank.
2 Set therecommendedironingtemperatur e(seechapter ‘Pr eparing
foruse’, ‘T emperatur eandsteamsettingtable’).
3 Set the a ppropriate steam setting. Make sure that the steam setting
is suitable for the ir oning temperature selected:
- l for minimum steam (temperature settings 2 and 3 ) .
- ; for maximum steam (temperature settings 3 to MAX).
Note: The ir on starts to produce steam as soon as it has reached the
set temperatur e .
Steam ironing with e xtra steam
(GC2960/GC2930/GC2920 only)
1 F or extra steam during ironing, press and hold the steam boost
button. (Fig. 5)
Ironing without steam
1 Set the steam contr ol to position 0 (= no steam) (Fig. 2).
2 Set therecommendedironingtemperatur e(seechapter ‘Pr eparing
foruse’, ‘T emperatur eandsteamsettingtable’).

Spra y function
Y ou can use the spray function at any temperature to moisten the ar ticle to
be ironed. This helps remo ve stubborn creases.
1 Mak e sure that ther e is enough water in the water tank.
2 Pr ess the spra y button several times to moisten the article to be
ironed (Fig. 6).
Steam boost function
A pow erful boost of steam helps to remove ver y stub bor n creases. The steam
boost function only works at temper ature settings betw een 3 and MAX.
1 Pr ess and release the steam boost button (Fig. 5).

Y ou can also use the steam boost function when you hold the iron in v er tical
position. This is useful f or removing creases from hanging clothes, cur tains etc.
1 Hold the ir on in vertical position and press and r elease the steam
boost button (Fig. 7).
Nev er direct the steam at people.
Drip stop
This iron is equipped with a drip-stop function: the iron automatically stops
producing steam when the temperature is too low to prevent water from
dripping out of the soleplate . When this happens you hear a click sound.
