Descaling
The coffee maker should be descaled regularly.
If you make two full jugs of coffee a day:
- the coffee maker needs to be descaled 2 to 3
times a year if you are using water with a
hardness of 18˚HD or less.
- the coffee maker needs to be descaled 4 to 5
times a year if you are using water with a
hardness of more than 18˚HD.
Turn to your local Water Board for information
about the hardness of the water in your area.
- Let the appliance run twice as described in the
section on brewing. However, fill it with white
vinegar instead of water and do not put ground
coffee nor a paper filter in the filter holder.
- After you have descaled the coffee maker, let it
run two more times with only cold water to
remove any scale and vinegar residues.
- Wash the jug and the filter holder afterwards.
Is your jug broken or do you need an extra
jug?
You can order a glass jug from you local Philips
dealer or the Philips Service Centre in your
country.
