Preparing for use
Inserting batteries
The appliance runs on four LR6 AA 1.5-volt
batteries (not included). We strongly advise you to
use Philips PowerLife batteries on account of their
long life and environmental friendliness.

Make sure the + and - poles of the batteries point
in the right direction.
Replacing the batteries
Replace the batteries when ‘Lo’ appears on
the display. (Fig. 3)
Improving the accuracy of the scales
The appliance is equipped with gravity zones. These
gravity zones improve the accuracy of the scales
because they compensate for gravity differences
across the world.
1 Set the slide to the zone (1-6) closest to the
location where you use the scales. (Fig. 4)
Adjusting the unit of measure
1 Set the slide to the preferred unit of measure
(kg, st or lb). (Fig. 5)
Using the appliance
1 Step onto the scales. (Fig. 6)
The appliance switches on automatically.
2 Your weight is displayed after a few seconds.

Frequently asked questions
1 Why does the display read ‘Lo’? (Fig. 3)
The batteries may be empty. Replace the
batteries (see chapter ‘Preparing for use’).
2 Why does the display read ‘Err’? (Fig. 10)
The weight of the person on the scales may
exceed 150kg, 330lb or 19st, which is the
maximum weight the scales can weigh.
Perhaps the scales stand on an uneven
surface. Make sure the scales are placed on an
even, stable surface.
3 Why does the display show the wrong unit of
measure?
You have not set the unit of measure you
prefer. Select the unit of measure you
prefer (see chapter ‘Preparing for use’).
4 How does the gravity compensation setting
improve the accuracy of the scales?
The earth’s gravity force varies at different
locations in the world. As a result, you weigh
less when you are closer to the equator and
more when you are closer to the poles. The
gravity compensation setting compensates
for this difference. When you select the zone
closest to where you live, your weight is
displayed with improved (absolute) accuracy.
This makes it easier to compare your weight
measured by these scales with your weight
measured by professionally calibrated scales
as often used by doctors, dieticians or tness
centres.
5 Why does the display read ‘0.0’? (Fig. 11)
The object that is weighed weighs less than
10kg. The scales cannot measure weights
below 10kg.
6 How do I weigh my baby?
First weigh yourself and then weigh yourself
again while you hold your baby. The difference
between the two values is the weight of your
baby.
