With your new Philips Ladysha ve you can quickl y , easil y
and comfor tably remo ve unwanted body hair . Y ou can use
the Ladyshav e either dr y or wet. If y ou shave while taking
a bath or shower , we advise y ou to use soap or shaving
foam for the most comfor table sha ve. After use, you can
clean the Ladyshav e under the tap or with the cleaning
br ush for extra hygiene.

Caution
- Make sure your hands and the appliance are dr y
when you inser t the batteries.
- Do not clean the Ladyshav e with water above
shower temperature (max. 35°C).
- Be careful with hot water . Always check if the water
is not too hot, to prev ent your hands from getting
burnt.
- Use and store the appliance at a temperature
between 15°C and 35°C .
- Do not use the appliance, the shaving unit, the
efciency cap (HP6342 only) or the trimming comb
(HP6342 only) if it is damaged or broken, as this may
cause injur y .
- Never use any accessories or par ts from other
manufacturers or that Philips does not specically
recommend. If y ou use such accessor ies or par ts,
your guarantee becomes invalid.
- Do not expose the Ladyshav e to direct sunlight.
- This appliance is only intended to be used by
women to sha ve and trim their body hair . It is not
intended for sha ving or tr imming scalp hair or for
any other purpose .
General
- The appliance can be safely used in the bath or
shower and cleaned under the tap (Fig. 2).
- T o keep the Ladysha ve water tight:
1 Make sure that the rubber sealing r ing of the batter y
holder stays clean and undamaged.
2 Apply some vaseline to the rubber sealing r ing from
time to time.
Electroma gnetic eld (EMF)
- This Philips appliance complies with all standards
regarding electromagnetic elds (EMF). If handled
proper ly and according to the instructions in this
user manual, the appliance is saf e to use based on
scientic evidence availab le today .
Preparing for use
The Ladyshav e r uns on two AA 1.5 v olt alkaline batter ies.
W e advise y ou to use Philips LR6 Po werLife batteries.
They supply sufcient energy for approx. 40 minutes of
shaving.
Note: Mak e sur e that your hands are dr y when you
inser t the batteries.
T o av oid damage due to batter y leakage:
- Do not expose the appliance to direct sunlight.
- Do not expose the appliance to temperatures higher
than 35°C .
- Remov e the batter ies if y ou are not going to use the
appliance for a month or more.
- Do not leav e empty batter ies in the appliance.
Inserting batteries
1 T o remov e the batter y compartment cover , pull it
off the appliance (Fig. 3).
2 Put the batteries in the batter y holder (Fig. 4).
Note: Mak e sur e that the + and - poles of the batteries
point in the right direction.
3 Push the batter y compartment cover back onto the
appliance (‘click’) (Fig. 5).
Attaching/detaching attachments
HP6342 comes with the protection cap, the efciency
cap and the trimming comb. HP6340 comes with the
protection cap. All attachments can be attached and
detached in the same way .
1 T o attach a cap or comb, carefully push it onto
the appliance. Mak e sure the r ecess of the comb is
aligned with the front of the a ppliance (Fig. 6).
2 T o detach a cap or comb, carefully pull it off the
appliance (Fig. 7).
Note: Do not hold the comb b y its teeth when you pull it.
Using the appliance
The Ladyshav e is suitable for :
- Shaving the underarms
- Shaving the legs
- Shaving the bikini line
- T rimming the bikini line (HP6342 only)
Use on wet skin
Y ou can use the Ladyshav e on wet skin, while y ou hav e a
bath or shower . T o achiev e the best result, lather your skin
with soap or shaving cream bef orehand.
Use on dry skin
If you pref er to use the Ladyshave dr y , make sure that
your skin is clean and completely dr y .
Note: in principle, ther e is no difference in using
the appliance on wet skin and using it on dr y skin. Y ou can
simply choose whic h method you lik e best.
Note: Do not apply alcohol based-lotions to the skin dir ectly
before or after shaving. If you want, you can apply some
talcum powder .
Note: Do not press the shaving head too hard onto the skin,
as this has a negative effect on shaving performance and
may cause some skin irritation.
Sha ving
Legs and bikini line
1 Press the on/off slide upwards to switch on the
appliance (Fig. 8).
2 Hold the appliance at an angle of appr oximately 70°.
Make sur e that the shaving f oil and pre-trimmer are
fully in contact with your skin (Fig. 9).
3 Stretch the skin with your fr ee hand to make the
hairs stand upright.
4 Move the appliance gentl y over the skin against the
direction of hair gr owth (Fig. 10).
Underarms
1 When you sha ve the underarm area, place one arm
behind your head to str etch the skin (Fig. 11).
2 Move the Ladysha ve gently o ver the skin. T o achie ve
the best result, move the Ladysha ve up and down
and from left to right (Fig. 12).
Efciency cap (HP6342 only)
If you are new to sha ving, y ou can use the efciency
cap to help you place the Ladysha ve on the skin at the
optimum angle. When the efciency cap is placed at on
the skin, the sha ving foil and trimmer are fully in contact
with the skin. This helps to get perf ect results.
T rimming (HP6342 only)
If the hair you want to sha ve is longer than 10mm, pre-
trim the hair with the tr imming comb to a length of 3mm
for an optimal sha ving perfor mance.
1 Attach the trimming comb onto the appliance.
2 Press the on/off slide upwards to switch on the
appliance (Fig. 8).
3 Move the appliance against the dir ection of hair
gro wth. Mak e sure that the surface of the comb is
in full contact with the skin at all times (Fig. 13).
Note: Y ou will achieve the best result if you trim under dr y
conditions.
Cleaning and maintenance
Regular cleaning and proper maintenance ensure optimal
results and guarantee a long life for the appliance.
Clean the Ladyshav e after each use .
Do not clean, rinse or immerse the Ladysha v e in water
if the cover of the battery holder is not closed properl y .
Nev er use scouring pads, abrasiv e cleaning agents or
aggressiv e liquids such as petrol or acetone to clean the
appliance.
1 Switch off the appliance (Fig. 14).
2 Remove the sha ving unit from the appliance to
clean the hair chamber , the sha ving unit and the
sha ving head (Fig. 15).
Note: Do not ex ert too much pressure on the shaving foil to
avoid damage.
3 T o clean the sha ving unit, rinse it under the tap or
use the cleaning brush (Fig. 16).
Note: Do not clean the appliance with w ater above shower
temperature.
4 Rinse the hairs off the appliance (Fig. 17).
5 Make sur e the appliance is completely dr y bef ore
you r eattach the shaving unit (Fig. 18).
Maintenance
1 Lubricate the shaving foil with a dr op of sewing
machine oil twice a year (Fig. 19).
2 Apply some vaseline to the rubber sealing ring from
time to time to keep the Ladysha ve watertight.
Storage
1 Put the protection cap on the appliance.
Note: The protection cap prevents the shaving head fr om
becoming damaged.
2 HP6342 only: Stor e the appliance and accessories in
the pouch supplied.
Replacement
If you use the Ladysha ve more than once a week, w e
advise you to replace the sha ving unit after one or two
years or when it is damaged.
The shaving unit, the cover of the batter y compar tment,
the cleaning br ush, the caps and the comb can be
replaced. If y ou need to replace one or more par ts, go to
your Philips dealer or an authorised Philips ser vice centre .
Envir onment
- Non-rechargeable batter ies contain substances
that may pollute the en vironment. Do not throw
away non-rechargeable batteries with the normal
household waste, but dispose of them at an ofcial
collection point for batteries. Alwa ys remove the
non-rechargeable batter ies bef ore you discard
and hand in the appliance at an ofcial collection
point (Fig. 20).
- Do not throw awa y the appliance with the nor mal
household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in
at an ofcial collection point for recycling. By doing
this, y ou help to preser ve the environment (Fig. 21).
