Important
.
Read these instructions for use
carefully before using the appliance
and save them for future reference.
◗ Make sure the appliance does not
get wet (fig. 1).
◗ Remove the batteries from the
appliance if you are not going to
use it for quite some time.
◗ Store and use the appliance at a
temperature between 5cC and
35cC.
Placing the batteries
.
Use 1.5-volt AA (LR6) batteries,
preferably Philips alkaline batteries.
1 Remove the lid of the battery
compartment (fig. 2).
2 Place the batteries (fig. 3).
Make sure the + and - indications on
the batteries match the indications in
the battery holder.
If the batteries have not been placed
correctly, the shaver does not work.
The shaving time provided by a new
set of batteries is approx. 60 minutes.
3 Put the lid of the battery
compartment back onto the
appliance (fig. 4).
Shaving
.
1 Switch the appliance on by
pressing the switch lock and
pushing the on/off slide upwards
(fig. 5).
The switch lock prevents accidental
switching on of the appliance.
2 Move the shaving heads quickly
over the skin, making both
straight and circular movements
(fig. 6).
Shaving on a dry face gives the best
results.
Your skin may need 2 or 3 weeks to
get accustomed to the Philips system.
3 Switch the shaver off.
4 Put the protection cap on the
shaver every time you have used
it, to prevent damage (fig. 7).
Replace the shaving heads (type
HQ4+ Micro Plus) every 2 years for
optimal shaving results. See 'Replacing
the shaving heads'.
Cleaning
.
Regular cleaning guarantees a better
shaving performance.
◗ For easy and optimal cleaning, the
Philips Action Clean (shaving-
head cleaner, type HQ100) is
available. Ask your Philips dealer
for information (fig. 8).
1 Switch the shaver off.
Shaving unit
Clean the shaving unit every week.
1 Clean the top of the appliance
first, using the brush supplied
(fig. 9).
2 Press the release button and
remove the shaving unit (fig. 10).
3 Brush the inside of the shaving
unit clean carefully (fig. 11).
4 Brush the hair chamber clean
carefully (fig. 12).
5 Put the shaving unit back onto
the shaver.
Shaving heads
Clean the shaving heads every two
months.
1 Press the release button and
remove the shaving unit (fig. 10).
2 Press the two sides of the
S-shaped spring together and
remove the retaining frame
(fig. 13).
3 Slide the shaving heads (cutters
and guards) out of the retaining
frame one by one (fig. 14).
Do not mix up the cutters and the
guards.
This is essential since each cutter has
been ground with its corresponding
guard for optimal performance. If you
accidentally mix the sets up, it could
take several weeks before optimal
shaving performance is restored.
4 Clean the cutter with the short-
bristled side of the brush (fig. 15).
5 Brush the guard (fig. 16).
◗ You can also clean the shaving
unit with a degreasing liquid (e.g.
alcohol). If you do, lubricate the
central point of the guards with
adrop of sewing machine oil after
cleaning. This prevents wear of
the shaving heads (fig. 17).
6 Slide the shaving heads back into
the retaining frame and put the
retaining frame back into the
shaving unit (fig. 18).
7 Put the shaving unit back onto
the shaver.
