Selecting fine audio equipment such as the unit you’v e just purchased is only the start of your
musical enjoyment. No w it’s time to consider ho w you can maximize the fun and excitement your
equipment offers. This manufacturer and the Electronic Industries Association’s Consumer
Electronics Group want you to get the most out of your equipment by playing it at a safe le vel.
One that lets the sound come through loud and clear without annoying blaring or distortion—and,
most importantly , without af fecting your sensiti ve hearing.
Sound can be deceiving. Ov er time your hearing “ comfort lev el” adapts to higher volumes of
sound. So what sounds “normal ” can actually be loud and harmful to your hearing. Guard against
this by setting your equipment at a safe lev el BEFORE your hearing adapts.
T o establish a safe level:
• Start your volume control at a lo w setting.
• Slowly increase the sound until you can hear it comfortably and clearly , and without distortion.
Once you ha ve established a comf ortable sound lev el:
• Set the dial and leav e it there.
T aking a minute to do this no w will help to pre vent hearing damage or loss in the future. After all,
we want you listening for a lifetime.
W e W ant Y ou Listening F or A Lifetime
Used wisely , your ne w sound equipment will provide a lifetime of fun and enjo yment. Since
hearing damage from loud noise is often undetectable until it is too late, this manufacturer and the
Electronic Industries Association’s Consumer Electronics Group recommend you a v oid prolonged
exposure to e xcessiv e noise. This list of sound le vels is included for your protection.
