1a. Raise the safety cap cover (5a). Unscrew the safety cap (5)
while pressing it down (fig.1). Fill the boiler with 0.8 l water using
the funnel provided (9), being careful not to let it overflow .
Water by its nature contains magnesium, mineral salts and other
deposits which in hard water areas can contribute to limescale
build up in the boiler. To avoid these problems, it is necessary to
swill out with tapwater and empty the boiler after every 3 or 4
uses.In very hard water areas we recommend the use of our
KALSTOP FP 2003, a special natural-base decalcifier which
inhibits and breaks down limescale, making it easy to remove
just by swilling out the boiler with a little tapwater. This is a pre-
ventive against scale build-up and protects the metal walls of the
boiler. KALSTOP is available from Polti dealers or by mail-order
from your Polti Service Centre.
2a. Screw the cap back on all the way while pressing it down.
Make sure the patented safety cap (5) is fully and correctly
screwed on, otherwise you may experience steam escaping
from the cap.
Close the safety cap cover (5a).
Do not open the safety cap while the appliance is in use.
3a. Connect the power cable into an earthed power supply of the
correct voltage.
4a. Switch on the boiler and iron by pressing the switches (2) and (4)
(fig. 2).
NOTE: during the filling operation, be careful that the water does not
overflow as it may come out and wet the surface where Vaporella is
laid.
WARNING: Do NOT under any circumstances put or leave the fun-
nel in the water filling aperture of the appliance when the appliance
is connected to the mains electricity supply. Danger of burns!

Check the manufacturer’s label on the garment, and interpret the
symbol on the label as follows:
STEAM IRONING
1b. Set the iron temperature on the “COTTON - LINEN” position (fig.
3), by turning the dial (1).
2b. Wait until the appliance heats up to operating temperature
(about 10-15 minutes) and the iron heating indicator light (3a)
goes out.
Press the button (3) on the iron to make steam come out of the
holes on the soleplate. Releasing the button, the steam stops.
NOTE: during initial operation of the iron, a few drops of water
mixed with steam may come out of the soleplate until the tem-
perature stabilizes. It is advisable to direct the first jets of steam
onto an old cloth until a uniform stable jet of steam is obtained.
NOTE:
• If no steam comes out of the iron, check the following: the “Iron
heating” indicator light (3a) is OFF; there is water in the boiler.
REGULATION OF THE STEAM FLOW
3b. By turning the steam regulation control (10) you can vary the
quantity of steam according to the kind of textile to be ironed
(more or less delicate).
You can use this control to increase the steam flow by turning in
anti-clockwise direction. Turning the control in a clockwise direc-
tion reduces the steam flow (fig.4).
DRY IRONING
1c. For dry ironing:
• Plug the cable in.
• Press the iron switch (4), leaving the boiler switch (2) off .
• Adjust the soleplate temperature by turning the dial (1), set the
temperature according to the kind of fabric.

When no more water comes out of the iron, proceed as follows:
1d. Switch off the boiler (2).
2d Press the steam request button on the iron (3) so as to fully
exhaust the steam supply from the boiler.
3d. Switch off the iron (4) .
4d. Disconnect the power cable from the mains.
5d. Raise the safety cap cover (5a). Unscrew the safety cap (5)
while pressing it down (fig.1). Be careful when unscrewing
the cap as steam could be released.
6d. Wait for a few minutes allowing the boiler to cool down.
7d. When cool, carefully refill the boiler as described in paragraph 1a
of the section “PREPARATION FOR USE”. If you refill the boiler
when not completely cooled, we recommend to pour only very
small quantities of water, so as to avoid its immediate evapora-
tion.

• Before attempting any maintenance operation, always dis-
connect the appliance from the mains.
• To clean the body of the appliance, simply use a moist cloth. Do
not use solvents or detergents which may harm the body materi-
al.
• If there are tears in the flex (steam + power supply), have it repla-
ced at an authorised service centre.
• Rinse the boiler every 2 months with clear water, the washing
traces will be brown, showing the proper functioning of the decal-
cifier. In case of very encrusted boiler, proceed in the following
way: leave only 0,5 liter water in the boiler, add 5 KALSTOP
FP2003 doses; when the boiler is under pressure, press the
steam request button until the steam is exhausted; rinse the boil-
er to eliminate all limescale residues. When the boiler is clean,
proceed as normal.
