e) Do not attach a saw chain woodcarving blade or
toothed saw blade. Such blades create frequent kickback
and loss of control.
Safety Warnings Specific for Grinding and Abrasive
Cutting-Off Operations:
a) Use only wheel types that are recommended for
your power tool and the specific guard designed for
the selected wheel. Wheels for which the power tool was
not designed cannot be adequately guarded and are unsafe.
b) The guard must be securely attached to the power
tool and positioned for maximum safety, so the least
amount of wheel is exposed towards the operator. The
guard helps to protect operator from broken wheel
fragments and accidental contact with wheel.
c) Wheels must be used only for recommended
applications. For example: do not grind with the side
of cut-off wheel. Abrasive cut-off wheels are intended for
peripheral grinding, side forces applied to these wheels may
cause them to shatter.
d) Always use undamaged wheel flanges that are of
correct size and shape for your selected wheel. Proper
wheel flanges support the wheel thus reducing the possibility
of wheel breakage. Flanges for cut-off wheels may be
different from grinding wheel flanges.
e) Do not use worn down wheels from larger power
tools. Wheel intended for larger power tool is not suitable
for the higher speed of a smaller tool and may burst.
Additional Safety Warnings Specific for Abrasive
Cutting-Off Operations:
a) Do not “jam” the cut-off wheel or apply excessive
pressure. Do not attempt to make an excessive depth
of cut. Overstressing the wheel increases the loading and
susceptibility to twisting or binding of the wheel in the cut
and the possibility of kickback or wheel breakage.
b) Do not position your body in line with and behind
the rotating wheel. When the wheel, at the point of
operation, is moving away from your body, the possible
kickback may propel the spinning wheel and the power tool
directly at you.
c) When wheel is binding or when interrupting a cut
for any reason, switch off the power tool and hold the
power tool motionless until the wheel comes to a
complete stop. Never attempt to remove the cut-off
wheel from the cut while the wheel is in motion
otherwise kickback may occur. Investigate and take
corrective action to eliminate the cause of wheel binding.
d) Do not restart the cutting operation in the
workpiece. Let the wheel reach full speed and
carefully reenter the cut. The wheel may bind, walk up or
kickback if the power tool is restarted in the workpiece.
e) Support panels or any oversized workpiece to
minimize the risk of wheel pinching and kickback.
Large workpieces tend to sag under their own weight.
Supports must be placed under the workpiece near the line
of cut and near the edge of the workpiece on both sides of
the wheel.
f) Use extra caution when making a “pocket cut” into
existing walls or other blind areas. The protruding wheel
may cut gas or water pipes, electrical wiring or objects that
can cause kickback.
Safety Warnings Specific for Sanding Operations:
a) Do not use excessively oversized sanding disc
paper. Follow manufacturers recommendations, when
selecting sanding paper. Larger sanding paper extending
beyond the sanding pad presents a laceration hazard and
may cause snagging, tearing of the disc or kickback.
Safety Warnings Specific for Wire Brushing
Operations:
a) Be aware that wire bristles are thrown by the brush
even during ordinary operation. Do not overstress the
wires by applying excessive load to the brush. The wire
bristles can easily penetrate light clothing and/or skin.
b) If the use of a guard is recommended for wire
brushing, do not allow any interference of the wire
wheel or brush with the guard. Wire wheel or brush may
expand in diameter due to work load and centrifugal forces.
Turner safety instructions:
The storage and handling of grinding wheels must be carried
out in compliance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Make sure that the pliable washers of the grinding tool arte
installed if such washers are supplied with the tool and their
use is required.
Do not use separated reduction housings or adaptors to
adjust grinding wheels with larger holes.
In the case of equipment designed for use with an internal-
threaded wheel make sure that the thread in the wheel is
long enough with respect to the length of the spindle.
The machine may not be used in damp and wet spaces,
outdoor when it is rainy, foggy or snowy or in the explosive
environment.
Before use always inspect the flexible lead and the plug.
Have the defects repaired by a specialist repair shop.
Outside the premise use only approved extension leads and
cable connections.
It is not allowed to grind or cut asbestos materials.
Apply the machine to the material only when switched on.
Do not carry the machine by the lead.
For safety reason the workpiece must be clamped in a vice
or a clamping jig. In such a way the workpiece can be
operated by both hands.
The flexible lead plug only connect into the socket when the
machine is off.
Do not use cutting wheels for grinding.
Before replacing the grinding wheel or during other
operations always disconnect the plug from the socket
(power supply).
When cutting or separating stone or brickwork it is
necessary to use slide guides.
Do not work on a ladder.
Persons under 18 are not allowed to work with the grinding
machine.
INTENDED USE
The machine is designed for splitting, roughing and brushing
metal and stone materials without the use of water.
The user himself is liable for any improper use.
MAINS CONNECTION
Ensure that the voltage of the power supply matches the
information on the type plate of the power tool. Tools with a
rating of 230 V can also be connected to a 220 V/240 V
supply.
Check that the plug type is the same as the socket type.

ELECTRONICS
Starting current limitation
Electronically controlled continual running secures device
acceleration without back thrust. Due to starting current
limitation in the device, 16A protection is sufficient.
Switching off during back thrust
During sudden drop of revolutions, for example blocking in
dividing cut, the current input in motor stops. For re-
starting, the device must be first switched off and again
switched on.
Protection against re-starting
Prevent uncontrolled starting of the device after current
supply cut off. For re-starting, the device must be first
switched off and again switched on.
Constant electronics
Constant electronics maintains revolutions during operation
and idle run near the constant. Regular operating shift is
achieved.
Protection from overloading dependant on
temperature
The safety electronics switches to cooling regime when the
critical temperature is reached. Motor continues running at
approximately 2500 min
-1
revolutions, constant electronics is
deactivated. After cooling to approximately 10 – 20, the
device is fully operational.
Heat protection for devices heated during operation, reacts
adequately sooner.
ADVICE FOR OPERATION
Ventilation apertures must not jam.
Cable replacement can be carried out only in a specialised
electrical technical workshop, authorized for such work. Only
original PROTOOL cable can be used for spare parts.
After approximately 200 hours of operation, the following
work must be carried out:
Brush length inspection. If brush is shorter than 5 mm,
replace it. Only original PROTOOL brush can be used as
spare part.
Device will switch off automatically; if the brushes are worn
down the device must be sent to a specialized centre for
maintenance.
Change lubrication grease in gearbox and bearings.
To maintain the protection level, the device must be checked
in a specialized electrical technical workshop, which is
authorized for such work and will inspect the safety of the
device.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Power tools, accessories and packaging should be sorted for
environmental-friendly recycling.
Only for EU countries: Do not dispose of power tools into
household waste! According to the European Directive
2002/96/EC on waste electrical and electronic equipment
and its incorporation into national law, power tools that are
no longer suitable for must be separately collected and sent
for recovery in an environmental-friendly manner.
MAINTENANCE
Periodically clean the ventilation slots on the motor housing.
After an operating period of approx. 200 hours, the following
maintenance work must be performed:
Check the motor brushes and replace if necessary. Clean the
motor housing.
Renew the grease filling of the gearbox.
When the carbon brushes are worn out, the machine
switches itself off. The machine must then be sent to
customer service for maintenance (see enclosed sheet).
