Before firs t use
To s witch the device on, pr ess the -button. Y ou wil l hear a short signal
tone. Then, the thermometer carries out a self -test. The display indicates all
the segments (Fig. 1) on screen, lit up in green. The last measur ed value is
then displayed for appro ximately 2 seconds. The thermome ter is ready for
measurement if the display sho ws ‘Lo’ and the ‘°C’ or ‘°F’ symbol blink s.
The current tempera ture is displayed c ontinuously during the measurement,
and the ‘°C’ symbol blinks for the entire me asuring duration. The measur ement
will be completed after about 10 sec onds. The measurement ends as soon
as temperature s tability is achieved. An acoustic signal is pr oduced (3 x 3
slow beeps), the ‘°C’ symbol stops blinking and the me asured temperatur e
is indicated. At temper atures under 37.6 °C (99.7 °F), the display will be
illuminated green.
To pr olong the battery service lif e, switch the thermomet er off after use by
pressing and rele asing the -button. Otherwise, the thermometer will switch
off automatically 10 minutes later , producing a beeping sound.
Y ou can switch between displa ying the temperature in °C or °F . To do this,
press and hold the
-button for 2 seconds until ‘L o’ is displayed. Shortly
before °C starts blinking, press the -button again, until you get the de sired
measurement unit.
LCD-Display ON / OFF Sensor
Fig. 1
Fev er warning
If a body temperature o f more than 37.6 °C (99.7 °F) is detected, a fe ver
warning alarm signal is produc ed (3 x 4 quick beeps), and a display lights
up in red. If temperatur es outside the measuring range ar e detected, the
display indicates ‘Lo ’ for temperatures under 32 °C (90 °F) and ‘Hi’ for ov er
43.9 °C (111 °F).
Last measur ed value display
The last measured v alue is always display ed during the start -up of the
thermometer , for about 2 seconds indicated
Measured v alue dispersion
Temper atures can v ary depending on measurement points. This is normal and
is caused by uneven distribution of t emperature in the human body . Thus ,
for example, y ou can have a temper ature of 36.6 °C if measured r ectally ,
36.1 °C if measured orally , and 35.6 °C if measured axillarily . With multiple
measurements, take 3-minut e breaks betw een them.
Measurement poin ts
Anus (rectal)
This is the most reliable method. It is particularly suited f or infants and small
children. The thermometer tip is carefully inserted 2 - 3 cm into the anus.
Measuring duration: appr ox. 10 seconds
In the mouth cavity (oral)
Small temperature fluctuations from me asurement to measurement ar e normal
in the mouth cavity . They are caused b y uneven temper ature distribution in
the mouth. Insert the thermometer in one of the two he at pockets under the
tongue, to the left and right o f its root. The temperature sensor must hav e
good contact with the tissue. Close the mouth be fore measuring for about
1 minute, bre athing calmly through the nose. Then insert the measuring tip
of the thermometer in the heat pocke t and close the mouth. This way , the
measurement result will not be aff ected by the air you bre athe. Measuring
duration in the mouth cavity: appro ximately 30 seconds
In the armpit (axillar)
From a medical point of view , this measur ement method produces r esults that
are too imprecise. It is thus no t suitable for taking accur ate measurements.
The reason is that c ontact between the tempera ture sensor and the armpit
is much worse than contact in the case of or al or rectal measurements.
This results in there being no temper ature balance betw een the tempera-
ture sensor and the tissue, which is nec essary for a reliable me asurement.

Changing the batteries
If the display shows an symbol, the battery is empty and require s a
replacement. Replace the depleted ba ttery with one of the same type. T ake
the following steps to do this:
Open the battery compartment using a c oin. Remove the empty batt ery
and insert a new battery (CR 2032). Please take car e to ensure the corr ect
installation position. The ‘+’ symbol on the battery must point upw ards. Then
screw the battery c ompartment lid back onto the housing. Y ou can find the
appropriate batterie s in watch or electric applianc e stores.
Used batteries should not be disposed of toge ther with normal household
waste . Y ou are legally required to properly dispose of ba tteries. Dispose of these
at your electric goods stor e or your local recyclable material c ol lection station.

compartment with a dry cloth.
• Protect batterie s from exc ess heat
Risk of swallo wing!
Small children can swallow batt eries and choke on them. Keep batteries
away fr om small children!
Metrological c ontrol
As a rule, checking the thermometer’ s precision is not required. F or devices
used in Germany for medical practic e, the Medical Products Opera tor
Ordinance of 29 June 1998 (in the v ersion announced on 21 August 2002,
last amended by Article 4 of the law of 29 July 2009) r equires metrological
control aft er 2 years. Gauging offic es provide paid metrological inspections .
Cleaning and disinfection
• Disinfect the thermometer and the measuring tip with alc ohol
(75% isopropyl alcohol). All pharmacies sell alc ohol cleaning pads
from various manuf acturers, with which you can c ompletely wipe
the device.
• Wipe the thermometer dry with a soft cloth.
• DO NOT BOIL OR W ASH IN DISHWASHER. This wil l negatively affect the
functional capacity of the thermometer and will void the warr anty .
• Do not clean the devic e with chemical thinners and solvents.
• Store the thermometer in a dry , dust -free, clean plac e awa y from
direct sunlight.
Microbial c ontamination
Because complete disinf ection is often not possible in household use, it is
highly recommended to pr ovide an individual thermometer to e ach patient.
Disposal instructions
Batteries must be disposed of appropriat ely . Appropriate bins for
battery disposal are av ailable for this purpose at retail shops that
sell batteries, and at c ommunal collection points.
After the end of its service lif e, please dispose of the devic e correctly through
a community collection point for w aste electrical products.
