ofincipientclipping andgentlysoclips thewaveformof thesignal toensureactualclipping doesnot
occur. Thisis anecessarilysimplified descriponofwhat actuallyhappens,but ineffect,Set-Safecontrols
theamplifier andensuresthereisminimal riskof amplifierordriverdamage causedby over-driving.

AllREL Sub-BassSystemsaredesigned formaximumpower efficiency,both whenpassing asignalthrough
toitsresultantoutput soundintothe room andalsowhen silent.
RELcircuitryis designedfor“powerstarvaon”operaonunderno signalcondions.This meansthat
immediately whenthereisa gapin thesignal theRELis instantlyatmaximumpowersavingefficiency,yet
remainsatmaximumreadinesstorespondimmediatelytoa suddentransientsignal, suchas anexplosion
ina movie,evenaera longquiet periodandregardlessof level.
Thiscomparestosome “autopoweron/offsystems”whichremainpoweredupfora setperiod ofno-signal
condion(upto 10-15minutes)and whichneedtopower-upon receiptof asudden transient,thus failing
tocatchthe startof thattransient.Thereis alsothe possibilityofthe unitremaininginoperaveduring
listening sessionswheretheoverallvolume islow.
Itis notnecessary toswitchoff betweenlisteningsessions –itwill notsignificantlyshortenits lifeby
leavingit switchedon. Onthe otherhand, itwillnot harmsound qualityifit isalwaysswitchedoff. The
powerconsumponinthe quiescent(nosignal) stateisnegligible.
Itis perfectlysafeunder allnormal domesccircumstancesas itis fullyprotectedby internalfuses andan
external mainsfusein thefuse holderofthe mainsinput socket,witha spareinside thisholder.
