5.4.2.3 Isolating valves
It is recommended that manual valves be fi tted between the fl ow and return connections and the
installation.
5.4.2.4 Valves
For R3400/R3500/R3600 units connected in cascade, a de layed motorised shut-off valve can be
used if it is controlled by the boiler using terminals 14 + 15 or alternatively, a mechanical non-re-
turn valve can be used. This is required so as to avoid short-circuiting the appliance on the water
side.
5.4.2.5 Water fl ow protection
The unit is provided with water fl ow protection. This shuts the appliance down in the event that
the fl ow of water through the appliance falls below the minimum required value. This protec tion is
implemented by means of a water fl ow switch.
5.4.3 Water pressure
5.4.3.1 Operating pressure

At a maximum supply temperature of 90°C and a minimum water fl ow rate such as occurs at a ∆T
of 20 K, the minimum operating pressure must be greater than 1.5 bar. The operating pressure
must be measured with the pump switched off. If a lower pressure is desired, the maximum sup-
ply temperature must be adjusted accordingly.

5.4.3.2 Boiler expansion tank
It is advisable to fi t an expansion tank in the return pipe be tween pump and the boiler isolating
valve.
5.4.3.3 System expansion tank
The size of the expansion tank is determined by the quantity of water in the system. Our advice is
to fi t the system expansion tank at the neutral point (centrally) of the low velocity header.
5.4.3.4 Water pressure protection
All appliances are fi tted with a safety valve that opens at 3 bar. As an option, safety valves can be
supplied with settings be tween 3 and 6 bar with increments of 1 bar.
