A characteristic of the specially processed glass is that
the water remains on the glass in the form of a drop
and therefore does not spread out and stick to the
glass. This prevents deposition of boiler scale on the
glass. The glass is treated on both sides to make
possible total convenience during cleaning.
Glass surfaces should be cleaned with a moist cloth.
Since the glass has been specially treated, no other
cleaning products are required. If however you still wish
to use cleaning products, do not use the cleaning
products mentioned above.
Profiles:
ATTENTION: These should not be cleaned with
products that we have advised against, in particular, do
not use acidic and abrasive materials. These will
corrode the protection systems of the chrome-plated
profiles. If however you still choose to do this, bubbles
will form and/or rust will tend to concentrate in the
lowest part, where the aggressive substances will be
left behind and which cannot be properly removed.
The profiles should be cleaned with a moist cloth.
The shower tray and the roof:
The shower tray and the roof are made of acrylic.
ATTENTION: In the case of heavy contamination,
use a non-abrasive cleaning medium.
The material has a high-gloss, non-porous surface.
This surface can in most cases be cleaned with
a moist cloth.
For a longlasting shine, we recommend that the shower
tray and roof should regularly be rubbed with a normal
self-polishing medium and polished immediately
thereafter.
Blocked drain:
ATTENTION: If the drain is blocked, do not use any
unblocking products containing alkalis or acids:
use a plunger.
The water temperature should not exceed 65°C. This
may adversely affect the surface of the walls, shower
tray and roof.
In addition, it is recommended that spilled matter should
be removed immediately.
ATTENTION: During the installation phase, do not use
any silicones that contain acetyl. Only neutral silicones
may be used.

Recommendations for cleaning and
external maintenance of the steam
shower cabin
General cleaning requirements:
ATTENTION: During cleaning, particular attention
should be paid to the following aspects:
!
The cabin should be cold during cleaning.
!
The cleaning products used should be cold and
steam machines should not be used.
!
Do not use cleaning products that contain acids and
alkalis except where recommended.
!
Do not use abrasive cleaning products.
!
Do not use solvents.
!
Do not use cleaning products of unknown chemical
composition.
If an unsuitable product is used, this will not only affect
the protective layers on the various materials used but
also the base layer.
Periodically use a piece of cloth and conventional
polishing agent to maintain surface lustre.
Steam-shower column components:
ATTENTION: It is recommended that Grohe taps should
not be cleaned with abrasive sponges or materials.
Furthermore, it is recommended that you do not use
any solvents, acids, descaling solvents, vinegar and
solvents with acetic acid that would damage the surface
of the taps and make them dull. *
In order to clean the taps the normal way, it will be
enough to use a damp cloth with a little soap and then
wash and dry the taps. It is also possible to prevent
scaling on the taps by drying them after each use.
* Since the composition of cleaning agents for
domestic use tends to differ, we cannot guarantee
that such media can clean the taps without
damaging them.
The glass:
The figure below shows the difference between
unprocessed and processed glass that we use in the
steam shower cabin.
Exceptional maintenance and
problems
ATTENTION: For exceptional maintenance and
problems, please contact the authorised services. The
warranty will become void if the product is used
improperly by unauthorised personnel, and the
manufacturer's liability for the safety of the product will
lapse immediately.
If any parts fail, only use original and approved spares,
otherwise the guarantee will become void and the
liability of the manufacturer for the safety of the product
will be cancelled immediately.
For maintenance and problems, also see “Electrical
Safety” and “Preventive Measures during Assembly”.
The problems with solutions described here are
intended as guidelines for reaching a fault diagnosis. It
is not the intention that users shall carry out the work
themselves.
CAUTION: always switch off the power supply and the
water supply before carrying out any maintenance or
other work. Keep in mind the danger of freezing.
When the house installation is emptied, the thermostat
taps should be separately emptied, since there are
shut-off valves for hot and cold water in the connecting
units. In such cases, dismantle the thermo-elements
and the shut-off valves. See Grohe manual
PROBLEM 1
Nothing happens when one of the functions is switched-
on, no action follows.
CAUSE/SOLUTION
- Check that there is power on the terminals.
- Check that the fuse in the fuse holder on the control
unit is serviceable.
- If the steam function does not produce sufficient
steam this may be because the 1kW fuse is faulty.
Check that the fuse in the fuse holder on the control
unit.
- If the shower cabin does not work even though there
is power on the terminals this may caused by external
interferance pulses. Switch the supply off, wait for a few
minutes and then switch the electrical supply to the
shower cabin on again.
PROBLEM 2
One of the hydro-massage functions is not working
at all, or is not working properly.
CAUSE/SOLUTION
- This may be due to the fact that the magnet in
the solenoid valves that switch the massage is not
functioning properly.
- If one of the electronic shower/hydro massage
functions of the shower cabin is switched on for a long
time, it may overheat and the coil of the related
solenoid valve may fail. Dismantle and replace the coil
of the solenoid valve by unscrewing the three screws.
loosen.
- If one jet in a group is not working, it may be blocked
due to boiler scale formation or dirt from the water
pipeline. Your water pipeline should be free of dirt and
other matter with an uneven structure, which may lead
to blockages. It may also be the case that one of the
pipelines has a kink. In this case fit a new pipeline.
PROBLEM 3
After starting the steam function, no steam is generated
in the cabin after 8 - 10 minutes.
CAUSE/SOLUTION
The thermal cutout of the electrical resistance is
interrupted due to overheating.
PROBLEM 4
Only the steam function can be switched-on. One can
hear the solenoid valve that fills the boiler with water
start-up repeatedly, but no steam emerges.
CAUSE/SOLUTION
- This may be due to dirt in the drain solenoid valve,
due to which it cannot close and thus no water can be
retained in the boiler for steam production.
The level pin in the steam generator repeatedly starts-
up the filling solenoid valve. Due to the continuous
supply of cold water to the steam generator no steam
can be produced. Dismantle the drain solenoid valve by
turning the coil a quarter turn. Now clean the diaphragm
(also see the section entitled “Descaling the Steam
Generator”).
- This can be caused by a faulty drain valve (remains
opened)
PROBLEM 5
The temperature in the cabin does not rise fast enough
during the heating period set.
CAUSE/SOLUTION
- The temperature sensor for measuring the
temperature in the shower cabin is set on the basis of
the standard ambient temperature (around 20ºC).
During use, the temperature measured by the sensor
and shown on the display may deviate a few degrees
from the actual temperature in the cabin. This sequence
depends on the location of the cabin within the room
and on the ambient temperature. This may extend the
heating-up period. Reduce the preset temperature by
a few degrees. The heating-up period will thereby
reduce, and as soon as the steam cycle is switched-on,
the user may change the temperature at any time by
increasing it as desired.
- Leakage over the door seals, or leaving the door open
will slow down the heating-up function. When using
the steam function ensure that the door remains closed.
- Placing the cabin against single brick walls and/or
walls without insulation may greatly slow down the
heating of the cabin during the heating phase. The
mass of the wall should in such case be heated
externally.
-
Additional wall heating can provide a solution.
