1. SYMBOL EXPLANATION
WARNING. Read these operating instructions to reduce the risk of injury.
Wear hearing protection: Prolonged exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
Wear a dust mask: Working with wood and other materials that generate dust can be
harmful to your health. Never work with materials that contain asbestos!
Wear safety goggles. Working with this tool may produce sparks, chips, shavings and
dust particles that could cause damage to the eyes.
Always wear safety gloves.
This appliance has a double insulating system, so it does not need ground
connection. Please make sure that the tension of the mains corresponds to
the value indicated on the appliance’s information badge.
2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING
Read all safety instructions and observations. Any failure to comply with safety
instructions and observations could cause electric shock, fire and/or serious personal injury.
The term “power tool” used in the safety instructions refers to power tools that run
on a mains power connection (with a power cable) and battery-operated power tools
(without a power cable).
2.1 Work Area
General safety instructions for the use of power tools. Safety in the
work area.
- Keep your work area clean, neat and well lit. Disorder and a lack of light in the
workplace can cause accidents.
- Do not use the power tool in an explosive environment containing any inflammable
liquid, gas or powder. Power tools generate sparks that can ignite powders and fumes.
Ensure that the power tool is not near points of ignition while it is in use, such as open
flames, cigarette smoke, incandescent wires and hot surfaces.
- Keep children and other people away when using the power tool. Any distraction can
cause you to lose control of the tool.
2.2 Electrical Safety
- The tool plug should fit perfectly into the wall outlet. Do not modify the plug for any
reason. Do not use adaptor plugs with earthed power tools. Original plugs reduce the
risk of electric shock.
- Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ovens and
refrigerators, as this will increase the risk of electric shock.
- Do not expose power tools to rain or moisture. If water penetrates into a power tool,
the risk of electric shock increases.
- Never carry or hang a tool by the cable or pull on the cable to disconnect the plug
from the wall outlet. Keep the cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts.
Damaged and tangled cables increase the risk of electric shock.
- Do not use the cable for purposes other than those for which it was designed.
- When you cannot avoid working with a power tool in a wet environment, always use a
residual-current device. Using a residual-current device will reduce the risk of electric shock.
- When working outdoors, only use extension leads designed for outdoor use.
2.3 Personal Safety
- Pay close attention to what you are doing, be careful and use common sense when
ENGLISH
using the Rotorazer Saw®. If you are tired or under the effects of drugs, alcohol or
medication, DO NOT USE the device. A single moment of inattentiveness while using
the saw could cause serious injury.
- To reduce the risk of injury based on how you will use the device, use suitable
personal protection equipment, including safety goggles, dust mask, non-slip
footwear, helmet and hearing protection.
- Keep the device from accidentally starting up. Make sure the tool switch is in the
OFF position before lifting it, carrying it or connecting it to the power source and/or
rechargeable battery. Carrying the device with your finger on the ON/OFF switch or
plugging it into the mains with the switch in the ON position can cause accidents.
- Keep children and other people away from the device during use. Any distraction
can cause you to lose control of the device.
- Remove any adjusting wrenches before turning on the device. Leaving a wrench on
the rotary part of the tool could cause injury.
- Try to adopt a good position and keep your balance at all times when using the
device. This will make it easier to control the device in unexpected situations.
- Use suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair, clothing
and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery and long hair can
become trapped in moving parts.
- Whenever using devices that extract and collect dust, make sure they are well
connected and used correctly. The use of dust-extraction systems reduces the risk
of accidents caused by dust.
2.4 Use and Care
- Do not force the tool. Use the right tool for the job you are doing. Using the right tool
will allow you to work faster and safer within the range of available features.
- Do not use the tool if the switch does not work. A tool that cannot be turned off or on
by means of the switch is dangerous and should be repaired.
- Remove the plug from the wall outlet and/or remove the rechargeable battery before
making any adjustments or changing a saw accessory and before storing the device.
This preventive measure will reduce the risk of accidentally turning on the saw.
- Store tools not in use out of reach of children. Do not let tools be used by people who
do not know how they work or who have not read the instructions.
- Take care of power tools. Check that the moving parts work perfectly and do not
jam. Also check to ensure there are no broken or damaged parts that could affect
tool operation. Have damaged parts repaired before using the device again. Many
accidents are caused due to a failure to care for tools.
- Keep cutting tools clean and sharp. Tools whose cutting parts are well cared for and
sharp do not jam and are easier to control.
- When using the power tool, accessories and work tools, etc., always follow these
instructions and bear in mind the working conditions and the task to be performed.
Using power tools for uses other than those for which they were designed can cause
dangerous situations.
2.5 Service
- Rotorazer Saw® should be repaired only by qualified persons and only using
original replacement parts. This will guarantee that the saw continues to be safe.
- If the power cable is damaged, it should be replaced by the manufacturer, the after-
sales service or by a qualified person to prevent risks.
- Turn off the saw immediately when:
- the power plug and/or power cable are defective.
- the switch is defective.
- smokes comes out or there is a burning smell.
2.6 Sawing Procedure
- DANGER: Keep hands away from the cutting area and do not touch the blade. Place
your hand on the additional grip or the engine body. If you hold the saw with both
hands, they cannot be hurt by the blade.
- Do not hold the work piece on the bottom. The blade guard cannot protect you from
the blade underneath the work piece.
- Adapt the cutting depth to the thickness of the work piece. You should only be able to
see less than a complete length of the saw tooth under the work piece.
- Never hold the work piece you plan to cut in your hand while resting it on your leg.
Attach the work piece to something with stable support. It is important to properly
attach the work piece to minimize the risk of contact with your body, blade jamming
and the loss of control.
