GENERAL SAFETY RULES

the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

n Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and

do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or

these instructions to operate the power tool. Power

tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

n Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or

binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any

other condition that may affect the power toolʼs

operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired

before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly

maintained power tools.

n Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly

maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are

less likely to bind and are easier to control.

n Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.

in accordance with these instructions, taking into

account the working conditions and the work to be

performed. Use of the power tool for operations

different from those intended could result in a

hazardous situation.

SERVICE

n Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair

person using only identical replacement parts.

This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is

maintained.

HEDGE TRIMMER SAFETY WARNINGS

n Keep all parts of the body away from the cutter blade.

Do not remove cut material or hold material to be

cut when blades are moving. Make sure the switch

is off when clearing jammed material. A moment of

inattention while operating the hedge trimmer may

result in serious personal injury.

n Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle with the

cutter blade stopped. When transporting or storing

the hedge trimmer always fit the cutting device cover.

Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce

possible personal injury from the cutter blades.

n Keep cable away from cutting area. During operation

the cable may be hidden in shrubs and can be

accidentally cut by the blade.

ADDITION

n Advice to check the hedge for foreign objects, e.g.

wire fences.

n Recommendation for the use of a residual current

device with a tripping current of 30mA or less.

n Instruction to hold the hedge trimmer properly, e.g.

with both hands if two handles are provided.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES

n Never operate the product without the safety guard in

place and in good condition.

n Keep the working area free from wires, nails, metallic

cable, glass, stones and debris.

n Do not cut against hard objects, this could cause

injury or damage the trimmer.

n Do not cross roads or gravel paths with the trimmer

still running.

n As equipment user, you are responsible for third

parties in the working area.

n While operating the tool, always hold it firmly with

both hands by the two handles and ensure a firm

footing, especially if steps or ladders are used. Do not

touch the blades!

n Make sure you hold the tool firmly with both handles

and that you are well balanced with your weight

evenly distributed on both feet.

n Keep the cutting system below level of your waist.

n Keep your fingers and other body parts away from the

cutting blade.

CAUTION

Certain parts of the machine may become hot

in use.

n Familiarise yourself with your surroundings and be

on the alert for possible hazards which you may not

notice because on the noise from the machine.

n Never grasp the tool by the blade.

n Large variation in temperature can lead to condensation

inside the tool. Before use, give the machine time to

adjust to the temperature of work area.

n Let the tool work at its own pace. Do not overload.

n Never attempt to use an incomplete machine or one

fitted with an unauthorised modification.

n When transporting, disconnect the plug from the

mains. Carry the trimmer by the handles provided

and keep hands away from the blade.

n During transport or storage, always cover the blade

with the blade sheath (6).

WARNING

NEVER USE THE TOOL WITHOUT THE

SAFETY GUARD.

LET THE TOOL WORK AT ITS OWN PACE.
