Pr ecautions (cont’ d)
1. Read Instructions - All the safety and operating instructions
should be read befor e the appliance is operated.
2. Retain Instructions- The safety and operating instructions
should be retained for futur e ref erence.
3. Heed W arnings - All warnings on the appliance and in the
operating instructions should be adhered to .
4. Follow Instructions - All operating and use instructions
should be follow ed.
5. Cleaning - Unplug this video product fr om the wall outlet
before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aer osol clean-
ers. Use a damp cloth f or cleaning.
EXCEPTION: A product that is meant for uninterrupted
ser vice and, that f or some specific reason, such as the pos-
sibility of the loss of an authorization code for a CA TV con-
verter , is not intended to be unplugged b y the user for
cleaning or any other purpose, m a y exclude the refer ence
to unplugging the appliance in the cleaning description oth-
erwise requir ed in item 5.
6. Attachments - Do not use attachments not recommended by
the video product man ufacturer as they ma y cause hazards.
7.
Water and Moisture- Do not use this video product near water ,
for example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundr y
tub, in a w et basement, or near a s wimming pool, and the lik e .
8. Accessories - Do not place this video product on an unsta-
ble cart, stand, tripod, brack et, or table. The video product
ma y fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, and seri-
ous damage to the appliance. Use onl y
with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table
recommended b y the manufacturer , or
sold with the video product. Any mount-
ing of the appliance should follow the
manufacturer's instructions and should
use a mounting accessor y recommended
by the manufacturer .

Transpor tation - A pr oduct and cart combination should be
mov ed with care. Quick stops, excessiv e for ce, and unev en sur-
faces ma y cause the appliance and cart combination to overturn.
10. V entilation - Slots and openings in the cabinet are pro vided
for v entilation and to ensure reliable operation of the video
product and to pr otect it fr om overheating, and these open-
ings must not be block ed or cover ed. The openings should
nev er be blocked b y placing the video product on a bed,
sofa, rug, or other similar surface. This video pr oduct should
not be placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or
rack unless proper v entilation is pro vided or the manufac-
turer's instructions ha ve been adhered to .
11.Power Sour ces - This video product should be operated
only fr om the type of power sour ce indicated on the mark-
ing label. If y ou are not sure of the type of po wer supply to
your home, consult your appliance dealer or local po wer
company . For pr oducts intended to operate from battery
powe r , or other sour ces, ref er to the operating instructions.
12. Gr ounding or Polarization - This video product is equipped
with a polarized alternating-current line plug (a plug ha ving
one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the
power outlet onl y one wa y . This is a safety feature. If y ou are
unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, tr y re versing
the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your elec-
trician to replace y our obsolete outlet. Do not def eat the
safety purpose of the polarized plug.
13. P ower Cord Pr otection - P ower supply cor ds should be
routed so that the y are not lik ely to be walk ed on or
pinched by items placed upon or against them, pa ying par-
ticular attention to cords at plugs, convenience r eceptacles,
and the point where the y exit from the appliance.
14. Outdoor Antenna Gr ounding - If an outside antenna or cable
system is connected to the video product, be sure the anten-
na or cable system is grounded so as to pr ovide some pr otec-
tion against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Article
810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFP A No . 70, pr o-
vides information with regar d to proper gr ounding of the mast
and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an
antenna discharge unit, size of gr ounding conductors, location
of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electr odes,
and requir ements for the gr ounding electrode (Fig. A).
15. Lightning - For added protection f or this video product dur-
ing a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and
unused for long periods of time, unplug it fr om the wall out-
let and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will
pre vent damage to the video pr oduct due to lightning and
powe r -line surges.
16. Pow er Lines - An outside antenna system should not be locat-
ed in the vicinity of overhead po wer lines or other electric
light or power cir cuits, or where it can fall into such power
lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system,
extreme car e should be taken to k eep from touching such
power lines or cir cuits as contact with them might be fatal.
17. Ov erloading - Do not overload wall outlets and extension
cords as this can r esult in a risk of fire or electric shock.
18. Object and Liquid Entry - Nev er push objects of any kind
into this video product thr ough any openings as the y ma y
touch dangerous v oltage points or short-out par ts that
could result in a fir e or electric shock. Nev er spill liquid of
any kind on the video pr oduct.
19. Servicing - Do not attempt to service this video product
yourself as opening or r emoving cov ers ma y expose you to
dangerous v oltage or other hazards. Ref er all ser vicing to
qualified ser vice personnel.
20. Damage Requiring Ser vice - Unplug this video product fr om
the wall outlet and ref er ser vicing to qualified ser vice per-
sonnel under the following conditions:
a. When the pow er -supply cord or plug is damaged.
b. If liquid has been spilled, or objects ha ve fallen into the video
product.
c. If the video product has been exposed to rain or water .
d. If the video product does not operate normall y by follow-
ing the operating instructions. Adjust only those contr ols
that are cov ered b y the operating instructions as an improp-
er adjustment of other controls ma y result in damage and
will often requir e extensive w ork by a qualified technician to
restor e the video product to its normal operation.
e. If the video pr oduct has been dropped or damaged in an y wa y .
f. When the video pr oduct exhibits a distinct change in per-
formance this indicates a need for service .

1.Replacement Par ts - When r eplacement parts are requir ed,
be sure the service technician has used replacement parts
specified by the manufactur er or ha ve the same character-
istics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions may
result in fir e, electric shock or other hazar ds.
22. Saf ety Check - Upon completion of any service or repairs
to this video product, ask the service technician to perform
safety checks to determine that the video pr oduct is in
proper operating condition.
23. Heat - This video product should be situated a wa y fr om heat
sources such as radiators, heat r egisters, stoves, or other
products (including amplifiers) that pr oduce heat.
