C onnec ting the base station
¤ Connect power adapt er 1 and
Phone ja ck
2 to the base and
place the cable rec esses.
Please ensur e the power lead is
fully inserted.
Please no te:
u The mains adapter must alwa ys be connected, as the Phone will not operate
without a mains connection.
u Alwa ys use the pow er adapter and Phone c ord supplied. P in connections on
T ele phone cables can vary.
Connecting the charging cradle (if included)
¤ Plug the mains adapter into the
plug socket

If you need to disconnect the plug from the
charging cradle, press the release button

Pr eparing the handset
Initial charging and discharg ing of the batteries
¤ Insert the batteries the right way
round. The polarity is indicated
in/on the battery compartment.
¤ Then slide the batter y cove r back
into the main casing until it clicks
into pl ace.
f you need to open the batt er y cov er , for
nstance to rep lace the batteries, plac e
your fingertip in the grooved area on the
op of the cover a nd slide down.
The correct charge status can only be displayed if
the batteries ar e first fully charge d and discharged.
¤ Place the handset in the charger
for 7 hours.

Then remove the handset from the charger , make and receiv e Phone calls, setup the
Phone etc. and do not put it on the charge r until the batteries are fully discharg ed.
Setting the date and time
Set the date and time so that the correct date and time can be assigned to incoming
calls, and so that the alarm can be us ed.
¤ Press the ke y below MENU on the
display scree n to open the main
menu.
¤ Press the bottom of the control
key ...
... until the
Settings menu i tem
appears.
¤ Press the ke y below OK on the
display scr een to confirm your
selection.
The
Date/Time menu item appears on
the display .
¤ Press the ke y below OK on the
display scr een to open the input
field.
¤ The active cursor position is flashing.
Enter day , month and year as an
6-digit number via the handset,
e.g.
Q 1 1Q1Q for 01/10/10.
Answ er machine
Message Indication Key ‘ on handset will flash to indicate one or all of the
following events:
u missed calls (if caller ID is enabled f or your line numbers wi ll be shown)
u new messages on the answ er machine
u new T e xt messages (SMS) received
Activating/deactivating the answer machine

If the answer machine is ac tivated, the answering machine icon ± will be displayed
in the header .
T o retrieve your messag es, just press th e flashing
‘ key on your handset.
Dial tone
The dial tone will only be heard when pressing the c call button for 2 seconds.
A short press will open the redial list.

Registr ation handset
Y o ur handsets should already be r egistered by default, if your handset is flashing the
text "No Base" then it can be that:
u Y o ur base station is not switched on, please check if the power supply is connected
properly.
u There is t oo much distance between the handset and base.
u Y o ur handset has not been pre-registered in the factor y .
In the case that the handset has not been pre-registered , or you want to re gister an
additional handset to your base station, use the manual registra tion procedure
below .

1. On the handset:
MENU ¢ Settings ¢ OK ¢ Handset ¢ OK ¢ Regis ter HS ¢ OK ¢ en ter the
system PIN for the ba se and press
OK. Defa ult PIN = 0000
2. On the base station:
With in 60 seconds of ent ering the system PIN, pr ess and hold the registration/pag ing
key (min. 3 seconds). Registration takes appr ox. 1 minute.
Y ou can regist er up to fou r handsets to your base. Y ou can also regist er other Gigaset
handsets and handsets from other devices with GAP functionality.

Place the handset with the

F requen tly asked questions
Q: Ther e is no dial tone .
A: Press call button for 2 seconds (long press) to obtain dial tone.
A shor t press opens the redial list.
Q: The line is crackling / not clear .
A: Have you used the new line cable provided? Plea se do not use an old cable.
Q: The display is not clear / seems to be br oken.
A: The di splay is prot ected by a plastic fi lm, please make sur e you have removed
the prot ective film.
Q: The handset is not registered.
A: If your hands et is not registered, please follow the Registration handse t procedure.

Q: The caller ID is not working.
A: Have you subscribed to this ser vice (CLIP) from your provider?
Q: Message ind icator flashing and I cannot retriev e my message .
A: Message indicator will flash to in dicate missed calls as we ll as new messages of text
