* From second buttonhole and
beyond, lower buttonhole foot at
next marker line on fabric for
sewing buttonholes.
For buttonholing hard-to-sew fabrics such as light-weight fabric or a part near multi-
layered portion, install underplate to help create perfect buttonholes.
Underplate
1. Firstly, attach underplate to buttonhole
foot. Then, attach buttonhole foot with
underplate installed.
2. Place fabric in space provided between
buttonhole foot and underplate.
* As with all buttonholes, sewing a test
sample is recommended. With the
underplate installed it may be necessary to
increase thread tension.
Open buttonhole using a seam ripper.
Open buttonhole at center of
finished buttonhole with a
seam ripper taking care not to
allow ripper to cut seam.
It is recommended to place a
straight pin at bartacked part of
buttonhole to help prevent
over-cutting.

Place a piece of paperboard
under fabric. Using an
eyelet punch to cut out a
round portion of eyelet.
Then, use seam ripper.
