(Program Play)

number .

Recording onto a tape
U se a T YPE I (normal) tape o nly .
Y ou can recor d just the portions you lik e f ro m a sound
source, inc luding connected audio co mponents.

1 Inser t a recor dable tape into the cassette holder
with the side you want to r ecord facing forward.
2 Prepar e the recording source .
Select the desired source to recor d.
Place the disc you wan t to record .
When reco rding a folder fro m an MP3 disc, press

on the remo te repeatedly to select
“ , ” and then press +/
repeatedly to select
the desired folder .

Using the Timers
e system o ers two timer functions. If yo u use b oth
timers, the Sleep Timer has p riority .

Sleep Timer:
Y ou can fall asleep to music. is function w orks even if
the clock is not set.
Press S LEEP
repeatedly . If you select “ A UTO , ” the
system au tomatically turns o aer the current disc or
tape stops o r in 100 minutes.
If the tape deck is still pla ying or recordin g at the set
time, the system turns o aer the tape deck stops.
Play Timer :
Y ou can wake up to CD o r tuner at a p reset time.

Tuner
Severe hum or noise , or stations cannot be

Find a location and an o rientation tha t provide good
reception, a nd then set up the antenna aga in.
Keep the antenna a way from the speaker cor ds and the
power cor d to avoid p icking up noise.

Notes on discs
B efore p laying, wipe the disc with a cleaning cloth fro m
the center o ut to the edge.
D o not clea n discs w ith solven ts, such as benzine
thinner , or co mmercially available clea ners or
anti-sta tic spray in tended for vinyl LP s.
D o not expose discs to direct sunlight o r heat sources
such as hot a ir ducts, nor leave i t in a car parked in
direct sunlight.
On safety
e unit is not disconnected from the ma ins as long as
it is conn ec ted to the A C outlet, even if the unit itself
has been turned o.
C omp letely disconnect the power cor d (mains lead)
from the wall socket (mains) if i t is not going t o b e used
for an ext ended per iod of time. Wh en unplugging the
unit, alwa ys gr ip the pl ug. Never pull the cord i tself.
Should any solid ob jec t or liquid g et into the system,
unpl ug the system, and hav e it checked by q ualie d
personnel befor e operating it again.

ser vice facility .
On placement
D o not place the syst em in an inclined position or in
locations tha t are extremely h ot, cold, dusty , dirty , or
humid o r lacking adequate ven tilation, or subject to
vibra tion, direct sunlight or a bright ligh t.
B e careful when placing the unit o r spe akers o n
surfaces that ha ve been spe cially treated (f or example ,
with wax, oil, polish) as sta ining or discolora tion of the
surface may r esult.
If the system is bro ught directly from a cold to a wa rm
location or is p laced in a ver y damp r o om, mo isture
may co ndense on the lens inside the CD play er , and
cause the system to malfunction. I n this situation,
remo ve the disc, and leave the system t urned on for
about a n hour until the moist ure evaporat es.
On heat buildup
Heat buildu p on the unit during o peration is normal
and is no t cause for alarm.
D o not to uch the cabinet if it has been used
con tinuously a t a high volume because the cabinet ma y
have becom e hot.
D o not obs tr uct the ventilatio n holes.
On the speaker syst em
is speaker system is not ma gnetica lly shielded, an d
the picture o n nearby TV sets may become magnetically
distorted. I n this situation, t urn o the T V , wai t 15 to
30 minu tes, and turn it back on.
If there is n o impro vement, mo ve the speakers far awa y
from the TV .
Cleaning the cabinet
Clean this system with a so cloth sligh tly moistened
with a mild detergen t solution. Do not use an y type
of ab rasive pad, scouring powder , or solvent, s uch as
thinner , benzine, or alcoho l.

Cleaning the tape heads
U se dr y- or wet-type cleaning cas sette (available
separatel y) aer ever y 10 hours o f use, before you s tart an
importan t recording, or a er playing an o ld tape. Failur e
to clean the tape heads can ca use degraded s ound quali ty
or an ina bility of the unit to r ecord or pla y tapes. For
details, refer to the in struc tions o f the cleaning cassette.
Demagnetizing the tape heads
U se a demagnetizing cassette (a vailable separately) a er
every 20 to 30 hours of use. F ailure to demagnetize
the tape heads can cause an in crease in noise, a loss of
high frequency sound, and an ina bility to com pletely
erase tapes. For deta ils, refer to the instructions of the
demagnetizing cassette.
