Prepare the battery pack
• Connect the battery charger to an easily accessible wal l outlet (wall socket) close by.
• Even if the CHARGE lam p is not lit, the battery charger is not disconnected from the AC power source
(mains) as long as it is connected to the wall outlet (wal l socket). If some trouble occurs whi le using the
battery charger, immed iately shut off the power by disconnecti ng the plug from the wall outlet (wall socket).
• When charging is finished, d isconnect the power cord (mains lead) from th e wall outlet (w all socket), and
remove the battery pack from th e battery charger.
• The time required to ful ly charge the battery pack (su pplied) from when it is completely discharged at a
temperature of 25°C (77°F) is appr oximately 330 min., and the practical charging time is approximately
270 min. Charging may take lon ger under certain circumstances or conditions.

Using the AC Adaptor
You can connect the camera to a wall outlet (wall socket) using the AC-LS5K AC Adaptor (not
supplied). t “User’s Guide/Troubleshooting” (page 18) .
To check the remaining battery time
Press POWER button to turn on and check the re maining battery on the LCD screen.
• It takes ab out one minute until the correct bat tery remaining indicator ap pears.
• The displayed battery remaining indicator may not be correct under certain circ umstances.
To remove the battery pack
Slide the battery eject lever to pull the battery pack out. Be sure not to drop the battery pack
when pulling it out.
To use your camera abroad — Power sources
You can use your camera, the battery charger, and the AC-LS5K AC A daptor (not supplied) in
any country or region where the power su pply is within 100 V to 240 V AC, 50/60 Hz.
• Do not use an elec tronic transformer (travel con verter), as this may cause a
malfunction.

To change the date and time
Select [Clock Set] in the (Setup) screen and perform the pr ocedure in step 3 above.

On the clock display
• Midnight is i ndicated as 12:00 AM , and noon as 12:00 PM.
• If you sele cted [D/M/Y] in step 3-1, set the time on a 24-ho ur cycle.
When turning on the power
• Unless you set t he clock, the Clock Set screen appears each time the camera is turned on.
• Do not touch the lens portion as the cover opens and the lens portion extends. Also, do not leav e the camera
with the lens portio n extended for a long period of time with the power off as this may caus e malfunction .
• The following screen appears when the camera is turned on for the seco nd time or afterwards.
To turn off the power
Press the POWER butto n again.
• If the camera is run ning on battery power and you d o not operate the camera for about three minutes, the
camera turns off automati cally to pr event wearing down the battery pack (Auto power-off function).
Changing the language setting
You can change the screen display to show messages in a specified language. To change the
language setting, press MENU to display the menu screen. Select (Setup) with the control
button, then, select [ Languag e] in (Setup1), and select the desir ed language. t “User’s

• The LCD screen is manufactured us ing extremely high -precision technology s o over 99.99% of the
pixels are operational for effective us e. However, there may b e some tiny bl ac k points and/or brig ht
points (white, red, blue or green in color) t hat constantly appear on the LCD screen. These points are
normal in the manufactur ing process and do not affect the recording in any way.
• The camera is a precision inst rument. Be careful not
to bump the lens or the LCD screen , and not to apply
force to i t. Attach the strap to pr event the c amera
from damage by being dropped, etc.
