Creating your o wn CD program
(Program Play)
1 Press CD
to select the CD function.
2 Press PLA Y MODE
repeatedly until “PGM” appears
while the player is stopped .
3 Press / (or

When pr ograming MP3 les, press +/
repeatedly to select the desired fo lder , and then select
the desired le.

Presetting radio stations

Y ou can pr eset up to 20 FM and 10 AM station s. e
preset sta tions are r etained for about half a da y even
if you disconnect the pow er cord or if a power fa ilure
occurs.
6 T o call up a preset radio station, press TUNING
MODE
repeatedly until “PRESE T ” appears, and
then press +/ (or TUNING + or on the unit)
repeatedly to select the desired pr eset number .
Using the Timers
e system o ers two timer functions. If yo u use b oth
timers, the Sleep Timer has p riority .
Sleep Timer:
Y ou can fall asleep to music. i s funct ion wo rks even if
the clock is not set.
Press S LEEP
repeatedly . If you select “ A UTO , ” the
system au tomatically turns o aer the current disc sto ps
or in 100 min utes.
Play Timer :
Y ou can wake up t o CD or tuner at a p reset time.

General
The sy stem unexpectedly shuts o while
operating .
Are the + and speaker cords sh ort-circuited?
Make sur e the spea ker cor ds are corr ec tly connected.
There is no sound .
Are the + and speaker cords sh ort-circuited?
C onnect only the su pplied speakers.
Do not obstruct the ventilatio n holes.
Sound comes from one channel, or the left and
right volumes ar e unbalanced.
Place the spe akers as symmetrically as possible.
C onnect only the su pplied speakers.
Severe hum or noise .
Move the syst em away fro m s our ces of noise.
C onnect the system to a dier ent wall socket.
Install a noise lter (a vailable separately) t o the p ow er
cord .
The remote does not function.
Remove an y obstacles between the remote and the

CD/MP3 play er
The sound skips, or the disc will not play .
Wipe the disc clean, an d replace it.
Move the syst em to a location awa y from vibratio n (for
examp le, on top of a s table stand).
Move the speakers a way from the system, o r place them
on separat e stands. A t high volume, speaker vibra tion
may ca use the s ound to s kip.
Play does not start from the rst track.
Return to Normal Pla y by pressin g PLA Y MODE
repeatedly un til b oth “PGM ” and “ SHUF” disappear .
Starting playback takes more time than usual.
e following discs take a long er time to start playback.

Tuner
Severe hum or noise , or stations cannot be
receiv ed. (“TUNED ” or “STEREO” ashes on the
display .)

Find a location and a n orientation tha t provide g o od
reception, a nd then set up the antenna aga in.
Keep the antenna a way from the speaker co rds and the
power cor d to avoid p icking up noise.

T o change the AM tuning interval
e AM tuning in ter val is factory-preset to 9 kHz or
10 kHz (fo r s ome a reas: this function is not ava il able o n
the Eur opean and Russia n models).
U se butto ns on the unit to ch ange the AM tuning
interval.
1 T une in any AM station, and then turn o the
system.
2 Press DISPLA Y
to display the clock.

All the AM preset statio ns are erased. T o reset the
interval to the factory preset, repeat the pr oce dur e.
T o improv e tuner reception
T urn o CD play er power by using the CD pow er
managem ent function. By default, CD po wer is turned on.
1 Press CD (or FUNCTION repeatedly)

CD function.
2 Press

3 After “ST ANDBY” stops ashing, press DISPLA Y

T roubleshooting
T o reset the system to factory settings
If the system still does not o p erat e properly , reset the
system to factory settings.

default settin gs.
1 Disconnect and reconnect the power cord , and then
turn on the system.

loaded a disc that cannot be pla yed.
NO STEP : All of the progra med tracks have been erased.
OVER : Y ou ha ve reached the end of the disc while
pressin g
during pla yb ack or pa use.
PUSH SELECT : Y ou tried to set t he clock or timer d uring
timer operation.
PUSH STOP : Y ou pressed PLA Y MODE
during
playback.
READING : e system is r eading information fro m the
disc. Some butt ons are no t available.
SET CL OCK : Y ou trie d to select the timer when the clock
is not set.
SET TIMER : Y ou trie d to select the timer when the Play
Timer is no t set.

B efor e playing, wipe the disc with a cleaning clo th f rom
the center o ut to the edge.
Do not clean discs with solvents, suc h as benzine
thinner , or co mmercially available clea ners or anti-
static spra y intended fo r vinyl LPs.
Do not expos e discs to direct sunlight o r heat sources
such as hot a ir ducts, nor leave i t in a car parked in
direct sunlight.
On safety
e unit is not disconnected from the A C power source
(mains) as lo ng as it is connected to the wall socket,
even if the unit itself has been turned o.
C om pletely disconnect the power cor d (mains lead)
from the wall socket (mains) if i t is not going t o b e used
for an ext ended per iod of time. Wh en unplugging the
unit, alwa ys gr ip the pl ug. Never pull the cord i tself.
Should any solid ob jec t or liq uid get into the system,
unpl ug the system, and hav e it checked by q ualie d
personnel befor e operating it again.

ser vice facility .
On placement
Do not place the system in an inclined position o r in
locations tha t are extremely h ot, cold, dusty , dirty , or
humid o r lacking adequate ven tilation, or subject to
vibra tion, direct sunlight or a bright ligh t.
B e careful when placing the unit o r spea kers o n
surfaces that ha ve been spe cially treated (f or example ,
with wax, oil, polish) as sta ining or discolora tion of the
surface may r esult.
If the system is bro ught directly from a cold to a wa rm
location or is p laced in a ver y damp r o om, mo isture
may co ndense on the lens inside the CD play er , and
cause the system to malfunction. I n this situation,
remo ve the disc, and leave the system t urned on for
about a n hour until the moist ure evaporat es.
On heat buildup
Heat build up on the unit during o peration is normal
and is no t cause for alarm.
Do not touch the cabinet if i t has been use d
con tinuously a t a high volume because the cabinet ma y
have becom e hot.
Do not obstruct t he ven tilation holes.
On the speaker syst em
is speaker system is not ma gnetica lly shielded, an d
the picture o n nearby TV sets may become magnetically
distorted. I n this situation, t urn o the T V , wai t 15 to 30
minu tes, and turn it back on.
If there is n o impro vement, mo ve the speakers far awa y
from the TV .
Cleaning the cabinet
Clean this system with a so cloth sligh tly moistened
with a mild detergen t solution. Do not use an y type
of ab rasive pad, scouring powder , or solvent, s uch as
thinner , benzine, or alcoho l.
