A DualDisc is a two sided disc product which mates D VD
recorded ma terial on on e side with digital audio ma terial on
the other side. H owever , since the audio ma terial side does not
conform to the Com pact Disc (CD) standard , playback on this
product is no t guaran teed.

protection technologies
This product is designed to p layback discs that conf orm to the
Compact Disc (CD) standard . Recently , various music discs
encoded with copyright p rotection tec hnologies are ma rketed
by some r ecord co mpanies. Please be awa re that a mong those
discs, there are som e that do no t conform to the CD s tandard
and ma y not be playa ble by this p roduct.

Notes on discs
• Before playing, clean the CD wi th a
cleaning cloth. W i pe the CD from the
center ou t. If ther e is a scratch, dirt or
fingerprints on the CD , it may cause
tracking errors.
• Do not use solvents such a s benzine, thinner , co mmercially ava ilable
cleaners or a nti-static sp ray in tended for vin yl LP s.
• Do not expose the CD to direct sunlight or heat sour ces such as hot
air ducts, nor lea ve it in a car par ked in direct sunlight, as there ca n
be a considerable rise in tem perature in side the car .
• Do not stick paper or sticker s on the CD , nor scra tch the surface of
the CD .
• After playing, stor e the CD in its case.
On safety
• As the laser beam used in the CD player section is harmful to the
eyes, do not at temp t to disassemble the casing. Refer servicing to
qualified personnel only .
• Should any solid o bject or liquid fall into the p layer , unplug the
player , and have i t checked by q ualified personnel before opera ting
it an y further .
• Discs with non-standard sh apes (e.g., heart, square , star) cannot be
played on this p layer . Att empting t o do so may damag e the player .
Do not use such discs.
On power sourc es
• For A C operation, u se the supplied A C power co rd; do not use an y
other type.
• The player is no t disconnected from the A C power source (m ains)
as long as i t is connected to the wall outlet, even if the pla yer itself
has been turned off.
• Un plug the pla yer from the wall ou tlet when it is not to be used fo r
an extended period of time.
• When the batteries ar e not to be used, remo ve them to a void
damage tha t can be caused by bat tery leakage or corrosion.
• The nameplate a nd importan t informa tion concerning saf ety are
located on the botto m exterior .
On placement
• Do not leave the play er in a location near hea t sources, in a place
subject to direct sunlight, excessi ve dust, o r mechanical shock, or in
a car subject to the direct rays o f the sun.
• Do not place the player o n an inclined or un stable place.
• Do not place anything wi thin 10 mm of the side of the cabin et. The
ventilatio n holes mus t be unobstructed for the player t o operate
properl y and pr olong the life o f its com ponen ts.
• Since a strong ma gnet is used for the speakers, keep personal credit
cards using ma gnetic coding or spring-wo und wat ches awa y from
the player to p reven t possible damage fro m the magnet.
On operation
• If the player is b rough t directly from a cold t o a warm location, or is
placed in a very damp room, moi sture ma y condense o n the lens
inside the CD player section. Sho uld this occur , the player will no t
operate p roperly . In this case, remov e the CD and wai t about an
hour for the m oistur e to evapora te.
Cleaning the cabinet
• Clean the cabinet, panel and co ntro ls with a soft cloth slightly
moistened wi th a mild detergent sol ution. Do not use an y type of
abrasiv e pad, scouring powder , or solvent, such as alco hol or
benzine.

T roubleshooting
General
The power is not on.
• Connect the AC power cor d to the wall outlet securely .
• Make sure the ba tteries are in serted correctly .
• Replace all the batteries with new ones if they are weak.
• When you opera te the unit on ba tteries, yo u cannot turn o n the unit
using OPERA TE
on the remo te.
There is no audio .
• Un plug the head phones when list ening through speakers.
Noise is heard.
• Someone is using a portable telepho ne or o ther equipmen t that
emits radio wav es near the player .
Mo ve the portable telepho ne, etc., a way fro m the player .
iPod
There is no audio .
• Make sure the iP od is connected firmly .

Operation is impossible.
• Make sure the iP od is connected firmly .
Cannot charge iP od.

CD play er
The CD does not play or “no dISC” is displayed even when a
CD is in place.
• Place the CD with the label surface up.
• Clean the CD.
• T ake out the CD and leave the CD co mpartment o pen for abou t an
hour to dry moistur e condensa tion.
• The CD-R/CD-R W is blank.
• There is a prob lem with the quality of the CD-R/CD-R W , recor ding
device or app lication softwar e.
• Replace all the batteries with new ones if they are weak.
The sound drops out.
• Reduce the volume.
• Clean the CD, or r eplace it if the CD is badly dama ged.
• Place the player in a location free fro m vibra tion.
• Clean the lens with a commercially ava ilable blow er .
• The sound may dro p out o r noise may be hear d when using poor
quality CD-Rs/CD-R Ws, or if ther e is a pro blem with the recor ding
device or app lication softwar e.
Radio
Reception is poor .

The remote does not function.
• Replace all the batteries in the remote wi th new ones if they are
weak.
• Make sure tha t you ar e pointing the r emote a t the remot e sensor on
the unit.
• Remove an y obstacles in the path of the r emote a nd the unit.
• Make sure the rem ote sensor is no t exposed to strong light s uch as
direct sunlight or fluor escent lam p light.
• Move c loser to the unit when using the remo te.
After trying the remedies, if you still have pr oblems, un plug the A C
power cor d or remo ve all the batteries. After all the indica tions in the
display disa ppear , plug the AC power co rd in or insert the bat teries
again. If the p roblem persists, p lease consult yo ur nearest Son y dealer .
