8- MEASURING STRIDE LENG TH
HOW T O MEASURE YOUR STRIDE LENGTH
The 340 Pedometer automatic ally sets your stride l ength based upon your height
input during the Set Up sequence. Y ou may choose to adjust this stride l ength. T o
obtain your personalized measur ement, see belo w .
1. T o find out what your stride is, walk or run 10 steps and then measur e the dis-
tance with a tape measur e fr om the first st ep’ s toe to the 10th st ep’ s toe.
2. Divide your tot al distance by 10 to get y our average stride l ength.
3. F or a quick estimate, walk 3 steps, measur e the distanc e, and divide by 3. The
more s teps you tak e, the more ac curate and r ealistic your stride will be. An av er-
age walking stride for a f emale is 2 f eet (24 in.), a male is 2.5 f eet (30 in.).

13- REPLACING THE BA TTERY 12- F CC COMPLIANCE
The Sportline 340 Pedometer uses one CR2032 3V lithium battery .
Battery r eplacement will be r equired fr om time to time, and should oc cur when:
1. The display fades in part or c ompletel y
2. The pedometer function will not activat e
TO REPLACE THE BA TTERY:
1. Lift the spring-loaded belt clip on the back of the unit to e xpose the battery
compartment door . Unscrew the batt ery compartment door with a small Phillips
scre wdriver .
2. Remove the e xhausted battery fr om the unit, and insert a new battery (be sur e
to place the positive (+) side of the batt ery is visible, f acing towar d the battery
compartment co ver).
3. Replace the battery c ompartment cover and f asten the scr ew (CAUTION: do not
over-tighten).
