Technical specifications
Installation
To make the assembly procedure easier, please fit
the bracket for mounting the support plateafter
installing the base .
Connecting the mains power supply lead (see Fig.).
The mains supply lead is a 3-core cable.
L = phase conductor (usually black or brown )
N = neutral conductor (usually blue)
PE = protective-earth conductor (green/yellow)
If you are in any doubt, identify the conductors using
a voltage tester; subsequently disconnect the power
supply again.
Note:
Reversing the connections will result in a short-
circuit in the light unit or in your fuse box later on.
In this case, you must identify the individual con-
ductors once again and re-connect them. A mains
switch for switching the unit 'ON' and 'OFF' may of
course be installed in the mains power supply lead.
When the diffuser is off the RS PRO 5002, do not
look directly into LED light for more than 100 sec.
Make sure the installation site is not subject to
vibration.
Connecting a dimmer will result in damage to
the SensorLight.
Please note that the light must be protected by a
10 A circuit breaker.
L’ Connection of an additional load:
An additional load with max. 800 W can be connected
to the SensorLight, switched by the electronics. Screw
the live conductor to the load into the terminal mar-
ked L’ on the SensorLight. Clamp the neutral conduct-
or in the terminal marked N together with the neutral
conductor of the mains power supply lead. Attach the
protective-earth conductor to the earth terminal.
The SensorLight can be put into service after mount-
ing the light and connecting it to the mains power
supply. When putting the light into operation manually
at the light switch, it will switch 'OFF' after 10 sec. for
the calibration phase and is then activated for sensor
mode. It is not necessary to operate the light switch
a second time.
Reach setting (sensitivity)
Reach is the term used to describe
the diameter of the more or less
circular detection zone produced
on the ground after mounting the
SensorLight at a height of 2.5 m.
Turn the reach control fully anti-
clockwise to select minimum reach
(approx. 1 m dia.), and fully clockwise to select max-
imum reach (approx. 8 m dia.). (The light leaves the
factory set to maximum reach.)
Functions
1 m–8 m dia.
9.1
Time setting (switch-off delay)
The chosen light 'ON' time can be
set to any duration from approx. 1 min.
(setting control turned fully anti-
clockwise) to a max. of 20 min. (set-
ting control turned fully clockwise).
(The luminaire leaves the factory set
to the shortest time.) Any movement
detected before this time elapses will re-start the
timer. It is recommended to select the shortest time
for adjusting the detection zone and for performing
the walk test.
Note: After the light switches 'OFF', it takes approx.
1 second before it is able to start detecting movement
again. The light will only switch on in response to
movement once this period has elapsed.
Twilight setting (response threshold)
The chosen light response threshold
can be infinitely varied from approx.
2–2000 lux. Turn control fully anti-
clockwise to select dusk-to-dawn
operation at about 2 lux. Turn control
fully clockwise to select daylight
operation at about 2000 lux. (The
luminaire leaves the factory set to daylight operation.)
The control must be turned fully clockwise when
adjusting the detection zone and performing the walk
test in daylight.
Note: Apart from in the daylight setting, the luminaire
switches 'OFF' once an hour for 1 second at all other
twilight settings to measure the current twilight.
Hint: The easiest way of finding the desired light thresh-
old is to start by waiting for the surrounding brightness
at which the light function is to be activated. Set the
control dial to the fully anti-clockwise position and
allow the light to switch 'OFF'. Now turn the control
clockwise and let go as soon as the luminaire has
switched the light 'ON'. From now on, the luminaire
will always switch 'ON' and 'OFF' under these light
conditions.
LED basic brightness
(RS PRO 5002 LED only)
'ON' from approx. 2 lux. Can be switched 'OFF' by
remote control if preferred.
1 min. – 20 min.
Recommendation:
To ensure trouble-free HF-sensor operation, we
recommend seasoning the tubes by leaving them
switched
"ON" for 100 hours. This seasoning
process can increase tube life.
1. Connect light and switch "ON"
2. Turn all 3 setting controls fully clockwise, then turn
the middle setting control fully anticlockwise and fully
clockwise again (within 10 sec.)
3.
The seasoning process is confirmed by switching the
light "OFF" twice and then back "ON" again.
4. Now turn all controls to the chosen settings.
5. The light is now left "ON" for 100 hours without
sensor function. Do not disconnect the light from the
mains power supply during this period.
6. The luminaire automatically returns to sensor mode
after 100 hours.
Note:
If tubes are not seasoned or ambient temperatures are
low, the sensor may not switch the light "OFF". In this
case, switch the light "OFF" and, for the time being,
drastically reduce the reach setting.
Please only use high-quality branded lamps.
Otherwise, we cannot guarantee that the high-
precision sensor will operate reliably.
