Do not leave the machine standing in the
rain.
Do not operate the machine without the
sweeper container.
Beware of slipping on ice, water, snow
or uneven ground!
Take breaks in due time in order to
prevent tiredness and exhaustion – risk
of accidents!
Always wear a dust mask if dust is
generated.
In the event of noticeable changes in the
running behavior (e. g., increased
vibration, stiffness), stop work and
eliminate the causes of the changes.
If the machine is subjected to unusually
high loads for which it was not designed
(e. g., heavy impact or a fall), always
check that it is in good condition before
continuing work - refer also to the
chapter "Before starting work". In
particular, make certain that the safety
mechanisms are working properly.
Never use the machine if it is not in good
condition. Consult a servicing dealer if in
doubt.
Do not sweep up burning or smoldering
objects, e. g. cigarettes, ash or matches
– risk of fire!
After finishing work
Empty the sweeper container after each
use.
Wear sturdy gloves to empty the
sweeper container to prevent injuries,
e. g. from glass shards, metal or other
sharp-edged materials.
Where possible, empty the sweeper
container outdoors to avoid the
generation of dust.
Working techniques
Holding and guiding the machine
The machine is operated by only one
person. There should not be any other
person within the working area.
Always hold the pushbar firmly.
Push the machine forwards and adapt
the speed to the environment.
Small elevations of 2 - 3 cm can be
driven over by pushing the pushbar
down slightly.
If the desired cleaning result is not
obtained, check whether the sweeper
container is full or whether the circular
brush or sweeper brush* (* KG 770 only)
are blocked or worn.
Filling level in sweeper container
The sweeper container is full if the dirt
that is collected during sweeping,
escapes again to the side.
To be able to continue working
temporarily, lift the machine at the front
to move the dirt in the container towards
the back. This makes better use of the
capacity of the sweeper container.
When sweeping heavy dirt, e. g.
chippings, the center of gravity shifts to
the back when the sweeper container is
full. The circular brushes therefore make
less contact with the surface to be swept
and the cleaning result is not as good.
Maintenance and repairs
The machine must be serviced regularly.
Do not attempt any maintenance or
repair work not described in the
Instruction Manual. All other work should
be carried out by a servicing dealer.
STIHL recommends that maintenance
and repair work be carried out only by
authorized STIHL dealers. STIHL
dealers receive regular training and are
supplied with technical information.
Use only high-quality spare parts.
Otherwise, there may be a risk of
accidents or damage to the machine.
Contact a servicing dealer if in doubt.
STIHL recommends the use of genuine
STIHL spare parts. Such parts have
been optimized for the machine and the
user's requirements.
Never modify the machine in any way –
this can be extremely dangerous – risk
of accident!
