Short game
For younger children, the game can be shortened and simplified. Prepare
the game as follows:
• Put 6 pairs of valuables (12 cards in total) in the cellar. These are already
safe for the thieves.
• Put 6 clock cards into the slot below the clock and set the clock at 6. As
the game begins, the clock has already struck six times!
• Mix the 12 remaining valuables and put 2, instead of 3, in the secret
passage.
• Mix the other valuables and the 6 clock cards and distribute them
between the rooms. Each room gets 1 or 2 cards.
Co-operative game
The Secret Door is a perfect game to play with the whole family.
Brothers, sisters and parents will all have fun in helping the youngest
family members. Even 3- and 4-year-olds can play along in this way!
This is a game without competition between the players. In co-operative
games, the players have a common goal. During play, you will find out
together how to win the game. The game develops skills like working
together, memorizing and deductive logic.
The author
The Canadian games author Jim Deacove has
had more than 40 years of experience with co-
op games. He wants to create games in which
the players have fun and he noticed that playing
together brings more enjoyment than playing
against each other. To date he has designed
more than 100 co-operative games. His best
games are published in Europe by Sunny Games.
