1. Read Instructions - All the safety and operating instruc -
tions should be read bef ore the appliance is operated.
2. Retain Instructions- The safety and operating instruc-
tions should be retained f or future ref erence.
3. Heed W arnings - All warnings on the a ppliance and in
the operating instructions should be adher ed to.
4. F ollow Instructions - All operating and use instructions
should be follo wed.
5. Cleaning - Unplug this product fr om the wall outlet before
cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aer osol cleaners.
Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
EXCEPTION: A product that is meant for uninterrupted
service and, that f or some specific reason, such as the pos-
sibility of the loss of an authorization code f or a CA TV con-
verter , is not intended to be unplugg ed b y the user for clean-
ing or any other purpose, may exclude the r eference to
unplugging the appliance in the cleaning description other -
wise requir ed in item 5.
6. Attachments - Do not use attachments not recom-
mended by the pr oduct manufacturer as the y may cause
hazards.
7. W ater and Moisture- Do not use this product near water , for
example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laun-
dry tub, in a wet basement, or near a s wimming pool, and
the like.
8. Accessories - Do not place this product on an unstable
cart, stand, tripod, brack et, or table. The product ma y
fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, and serious
damage to the a ppliance . Use only with
a cart, stand, tripod, brack et, or table
recommended b y the manufacturer , or
sold with the product. An y mounting of
the appliance should follo w the manu-
facturer's instructions and should use a
mounting accessory recommended by
the manufacturer . An appliance and cart
combination should be mo ved with
care. Quick stops, excessive f orce, and
unev en surfaces may cause the a ppliance and cart combi-
nation to o verturn.
9. V entilation - Slots and openings in the cabinet are pr ovid-
ed for ventilation and to ensur e reliable operation of the
product and to pr otect it from o verheating, and these
openings must not be block ed or co vered. The openings
should nev er be blocked b y placing the product on a bed,
sofa, rug, or other similar surface . This pr oduct should not
be placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or rack
unless proper v entilation is pro vided or the manufactur-
er's instructions ha ve been adhered to .
10. P o wer Sources - This product should be operated only
from the type of po wer sour ce indicated on the marking
label. If you are not sur e of the type of pow er supply to
your home, consult your appliance dealer or local po w-
er company . For pr oducts intended to operate from bat-
tery power , or other sources, refer to the operating
instructions.
11. Gr ounding or P olarization - This pr oduct is equipped with
a polarized alternating-cur rent line plug (a plug ha ving
one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the
po wer outlet only one wa y . This is a safety feature. If you
are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try
re versing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, con-
tact your electrician to r eplace your obsolete outlet. Do
not defeat the safety purpose of the polariz ed plug.
12. P ower Cor d Protection - P o wer supply cor ds should be
routed so that they ar e not likely to be walked on or
pinched by items placed upon or a gainst them, pa ying
particular attention to cords at plugs, con venience recep-
tacles, and the point where the y exit from the appliance.
13. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If an outside antenna or
cable system is connected to the pr oduct, be sur e the
antenna or cable system is gr ounded so as to pro vide
some protection a gainst voltag e surges and built-up sta-
tic charges. Ar ticle 810 of the National Electrical Code,
ANSI / NFP A No. 70, pro vides information with r egard
to proper gr ounding of the mast and supporting struc-
ture, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna dis-
charge unit, siz e of grounding conductors, location of
antenna-discharge unit, connection to gr ounding elec-
trodes, and r equirements for the gr ounding electrode.

14. Lightning - F or added pr otection for this product during
a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and
unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall
outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This
will pre vent damag e to the product due to lightning and
po wer -line surges.
15. P ower Lines - An outside antenna system should not be
located in the vicinity of o verhead po wer lines or other
electric light or po wer circuits, or where it can fall into
such po wer lines or circuits. When installing an outside
antenna system, extreme car e should be taken to k eep
from touching such po wer lines or cir cuits as contact
with them might be fatal.
16. Ov erloading - Do not ov erload wall outlets and extension
cords as this can r esult in a risk of fire or electric shock.
17. Object and Liquid Entry - Ne ver push objects of an y kind
into this product thr ough any openings as they ma y touch
danger ous voltage points or short-out parts that could
result in a fir e or electric shock. Nev er spill liquid of any
kind on the product.
18. Servicing - Do not attempt to service this product y our-
self as opening or remo ving co vers ma y expose you to
danger ous voltage or other hazar ds. Refer all servicing
to qualified service personnel.
19. Damage Requiring Service - Unplug this product fr om the
wall outlet and ref er ser vicing to qualified service per-
sonnel under the follo wing conditions:
a. When the po wer -suppl y cord or plug is damag ed.
b. If liquid has been spilled, or objects hav e fallen into the
product.
c. If the pr oduct has been exposed to rain or water .
d. If the pr oduct does not operate normally by follo wing
the operating instructions. Adjust only those contr ols
that are co ver ed by the operating instructions as an
improper adjustment of other controls ma y result in
damage and will often r equire extensiv e work b y a qual-
ified technician to restore the pr oduct to its normal oper-
ation.
e. If the pr oduct has been dropped or damag ed in any wa y .
f. When the pr oduct exhibits a distinct chang e in perfor-
mance this indicates a need for service.
20. Replacement Parts - When replacement parts are
requir ed, be sure the service technician has used replace-
ment parts specified by the manufacturer or ha ve the
same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized
substitutions ma y result in fire, electric shock or other
hazards.

1. Saf ety Check - Upon completion of any ser vice or repairs
to this product, ask the service technician to perf orm
safety checks to determine that the pr oduct is in proper
operating condition.
22. Heat - This product should be situated a wa y from heat
sources such as radiators, heat registers, sto ves, or oth-
er products (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
