Connection and pre-heating
• Never connect the appliance if it is not fully assembled.
• Fully unwind the power cord. Connect the cord on the appliance (depending on model) then plug into the
wall socket.
• Be careful how you place the cord, so that it does not get in the way of guests moving around the table.
• Make sure that the electric power supply is compatible with the power rating and voltage indicated on the
bottom of the appliance.
• Always plug the appliance into an earthed socket.
Models with removable cord: if the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cable or
unit available from the manufacturer or its after-sales service.
If need be, make sure to choose an extension lead of equivalent diameter with an earthed socket ; take all
necessary precautions to prevent anyone tripping over an extension cord.
This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
• Models with switch: press the switch, the indicator will light up.
• Never place aluminium foil or anything else under the plate and between the heating element and the
reflector.
• Allow the appliance to pre-heat without the trays.
On first use, there may be a slight odour and a little smoke during the first few minutes.
• Thermo-Spot
TM
(according to the model): the Thermo-Spot turns solid red when the appliance is
perfectly preheated and ready to cook. - G.
To avoid damaging the dish: only use it on the support for which it was designed (e.g.: do not use it in an
oven, on a gas or electric hob, etc.).
Never run the appliance empty.
Do not put the ramekins and the spatulas in the microwave oven.
Cooking
After pre-heating, the appliance is ready for use.
• For the raclette function, have each guest place a slice of cheese in their individual tray before placing
it under the grill plate to melt - H.
• Do not leave the trays in the appliance while empty.
• Do not place cooking utensils and the spatulas on the cooking surfaces of the appliance.
• Do not cook food in aluminium foil.
• To avoid damaging the non-stick coating of the grill plate, always use a plastic spatula or wooden utensils - I.
• Do not slice directly on the trays.
Suggestions for use
• To give meat a more appetising look, add a little fat.
• For improved cooking, slice white meats thinly and cut chicken into small 1 cm cubes.
• You can pre-heat the trays before first use, taking care to position them on the hot plate.
• You can cook vegetables on the hot plate.
• For Alpine style cooking, you can first pre-cook the potatoes in the pan to gain time for the meal.
• Tip : to gain a little time on preparation of the next tray, start cooking of the preparation directly on the
hot plate then finish in the tray under the grill; this means you can start one recipe on the hot plate while
the other is being finished under the grill.
