enabling the CHARGE+STD BY function.
The CHARGE function permits initial charging of the battery
at constant current with the value previously set, for a time
selected via the key (D). If the battery voltage is particularly
low, a very small current will be delivered until 1.5 V/e is
reached; once this threshold has been reached the ST500
will set its current until the end-of-charge limits for that
particular type of battery are reached. Once this time has
elapsed, if the battery has not reached a certain battery
voltage level (stored inside the microcontroller) a further 2
hours are added after which the battery charge is switched
off. If the battery charger reaches the reference voltage
before the end of the set time the battery charger switches
off without adding the extra two hours.
The START function permits starts at CONSTANT
VOLTAGE, automatically limiting the current to the pre-set
values with cycles lasting "5 sec ON" and "20 sec OFF".
Blinking of the START led indicates that this function is
enabled.
