Impor tant : please read through these op erating ins tructions
very c arefully . It is essential that you take not e of all of the sa-
fety information and op erating instructions b efore switching
on the appliance. Please keep these op erating instructions in a
safe place for future refe rence.
Essential: please r ead the ope rating instruct ions. Y ou should
also follow all instructions for st ar t -up and continued use.
Information on cleaning: please do not at tempt to clean the
device using household chemic als, as these could damage the
sur face. Simply use a dry cloth. Disconne ct the appliance from
the mains before cleaning.
Caution – moisture and sunlight: never op erate the appliances
in damp rooms, i.e. close to b aths, showers, wash basins, drains,
damp cellars or swimming po ols; never use them where there
is moistur e. Never e xpos e the spe ake rs to high air humidity
and avoid direct sunlight . Do not expose device t o dripping or
splashing water . Do not place obje cts f illed with liquids, such as
vases on the device.
Information on location: do not use the appliance unse cured
in vehic les, in unstable locations, on wobbly tr ipods or furnitur e
or suppor ts that are too small. The speakers could fall and inju-
re you or other people. The weight of the speakers could cause
them to fall and cause damage, par ticularly if pos itioned on
st ands or on the T V/ monitor , even if they have been positione d
securely and stably . They could also fall as a result of external
influences, such as the cable b eing pulled, by persons tr ipping
over the cable or unintentional physical contact . This also ap -
plies t o w all suppor t s that have be en at t ached inappropr iately
or incor rectly t o w alls that may not b e c apable of suppor ting
their weight . Only use suitable wall brack ets for mounting. Make
sure that you know ho w much w eight the w alls can bear . The
appliance must not be placed ne ar sources of heat . This inclu-
des r adiators and heaters, ovens and other app liances that emit
heat (e.g. amplifiers) . S ources of heat , such as fan heaters or
candles, should not be placed on the speakers.
V entilat ion: the slits and openings in the casing are provided
for ventilation. Their purpose is to guarantee reliable opera tion
and to prevent the appliance from overheating. These openings
must not be block ed or cov ered, which inc ludes placing the
appliance on a be d, s ofa, c arpet or other soft sur face. D o not
place any newsp apers or t able cloths et c. on the appliance. The
cooling plate of the amplifier elec tronics must not be covered
or expos ed t o direct sunlight . A dditional active co oling of the
appliance is genera lly not permit te d.
Elec tric al supply: the subwoofer should only be connected to a
power source with the correct voltage as spec if ied on the iden-
tification lab el. If you are unsure about the elec tric ity supply
in your home, please contact us or your electr icity supplier for
more information. The appliance do es not nee d to b e ear thed.
Please only use the appropriate t wo-core mains cable for con-
necting to the mains socket. This mains cable must not be
modified under any circumst ances. Regulations on polar ity and
ear th conne ction must be observed. Use only an appropriat e
mains plug for connecting to the mains.
Information on w ir ing: please place the power c able flat and
flush to the wall and f loor . Loose cables constitute a risk as peo-
ple could trip over them. This could also result in inter ference
and cause the sound to be disrupte d. The p ower supply c able
should be laid so that it is not likely to be stepped on or squas-
hed from the s ides or above by he avy obje cts . D amaged cables
must be replaced. Pa y particular at tention to the cable/ plug
connection, the mains socket and the cab le output from the
subwoofer . The power supply cable and the c ables connecting
the spe akers should be che cked regularly for insulation fault s
or breaks. If a fault is discovered, the appliance and the cabling
must be dis connecte d from the mains immediately and the de-
fective cable must be replaced.
When not in use: disconnec t the sub woofer from the p ower
supply if the unit will not be used or you will not be home for
extended p erio ds.
Dur ing thunderstorms: in order t o avoid damage c aused by
lightning str ikes, sw itch off and unplug the de vice if y ou are
expect ing a thunderstorm.
Risk of overload: you should not overload wall sockets , ext en-
sion c ables or integrated appliance sockets, because this could
potentially le ad to shor t circuits and even f ires. Y ou should also
avoid turning up the volume very high on the re levant amplif ier ,
espe cially if y ou have increased the bass using the bass contro l,
the volume but ton or one of the deep bass boo st switche s.
Foreign bodies and liquids: unde r no cir cumst ances should
foreign bodies and liquids be allow ed to enter the appliance via
any openings, as they could come into cont act with p ar ts c ar -
rying high volt ages, which could then cause shor t circuit s and
f ires. Ther efore, do not spill any liquids o f any kind on the device.
T roubleshooting: do not at tempt to repair the appliance your -
self . Contac t our serv ice depar tment first for author isation, if
you think that you can repair the fault yourself . Other wise, the
device must be sent t o our service dep ar tment .
T r anspor t: the appliance should be transpor ted using a hand
truck. Great care must b e t aken dur ing transpor t . Please note
that unev en surface s, sudden stopping or inappr opr iate ex er ti-
on of force ma y cause the hand truck and the lo ad to fall over .
Information on sp ar e par t s: Lautsprecher T eufel will provide
you with spare par ts during the warranty per iod. Y our war ranty
will not b e inva lidated if you pick up the p ar ts yourself f rom
Lautsprecher T eufel.
Unusual sounds: if any unusual sounds occur dur ing use or the
sound become s distor ted, the spe ak er output must be reduced
immediately so that the system plays an undistor ted sound.
Connec ting and changing the fuse: disconnect the mains plug.
A faulty fuse should only be replaced with a fuse of the s ame
type.
Information on volume: loud noise can damage hear ing. Sud-
den high sound pressur e may b e created, par ticularly if a “sub-
woofer ” in “ Standby/ Aut o On” mo de is sw itched on by a bass
impulse at full volume. In addition to physical damage, please
be aware of po ssible psychological consequence s. Children
and pets require p ar ticular c are. If necess ary , set the volume
control of your signal source dev ice to the lowe st level. At high
volumes, always keep a cert ain dist ance from the appliance and
never hav e your ears r ight next to the spe aker .
