3.2 Switch on backlight
• Press once ON/OFF button.
• The light switches on automatically at dark.
• The unit is now ready to use.
3.3 Installation
• Choose a shady and dry position.
• Hang the appliance in such a way that the solar panel receives the
highest possible amount of light (D).
4. Operation
4.1 Backlight
• The supplied battery will be recharged in an environmentally friendly
manner by the solar cells.
Attention:
The 1.2 V rechargeable battery for the backlight is not fully charged
when shipped. For maximum efficiency it is advisable to have the
rechargeable battery fully charged by the solar panel on a sunny day
before the first use.
Please consider when choosing a location that the solar panel needs
enough light per day to guarantee a long-term sufficient power supply.
• In case of ideal conditions the battery should be charged within
approximately 20 hours.
• The unit is provided with a light sensor to turn on the light automati-
cally at dark. Avoid the closeness of artificial light (like: street light-
ing).
• In autumn and winter the function is influenced due to inferior sun
intenseness and duration of sunshine.
• At dull days it can also happen that the lamp does not switch on at
night.

3. Getting started
3.1 Barometer setting
Important: Adjust the barometer before use! (Fig. 1+2)
• The barometer has to be adjusted first to your local altitude. Ask for
the present atmospheric pressure of your home area (Local weather
service, www, optician, calibrated instruments in public buildings, air-
port). Remove the rubber sheath from the setting hole and carefully
turn the adjusting screw using a small screwdriver until the pointer
value coincides with the actual atmospheric pressure. Do not turn the
barometer movement too far! Better precision can be achieved by
lightly tapping the barometer glass after adjustment has been made.
• Replace the rubber sheath back to the setting hole. Make sure that the
protective rubber sheath is correctly in place so that no water can get
in.
