Longitudinal seat adju stment:
Pull handle , slide seat, release

Seat backrests:

Seat position :
Sit with buttocks are as far back
against backrest as pos sible.
Adjust distance between seat and
pedals so that your legs are slight ly
angled when depre ssing pedals.
Slide the fron t passenger sea t as
far back as possib le.
Head restraint adju stment:
Press butt on, adjust height an d
engage in positio n. The upper ed ge
of the head restraint should be at
upper head le vel.
To adjust horizontally, pu ll the
head restraint forwards. It e ngages
in several positi ons.
Fitting seat bel ts:
Withdraw seat belt from retractor,
guide it untwis ted across the body
and insert latch plate in belt buck le.
To release be lt, press red bu tton on
belt buckle.
Fasten seat belt before each trip.
Steering wh eel adju stment:
Unlock lever (A) , adjust steering
wheel, then engage le ver and
ensure i t is fu lly locke d.
Do not adjust stee ring wheel unle ss
vehicle is statio nary and steer ing
wheel lock ha s been rel eased.
Electric exterior mirrors:
Select the relevant exterior mirror
b y m o v i n g t h e s e l e c t o r s w i t c h t o t h e
left (L) or right (R) .
Then press arrows on the con trol
pad to adjust the mirror.
In the centre position of the selecto r
switch, no mi rror is se lected.
Interior mirror:
Swivel mir ror housing.
To reduce dazzle, adjust the lever
on the underside of the mirror
housing.
Dazzle from followi ng vehicles at
night is automatically reduced if
the vehicle is equipped with
automatic anti-dazzle interior
mirror. The leve r will not be pres ent
on the underside of the mirror
housing.
Power wind ows:
Front switches operate the front
windows and rear switches operate
the rear windows.
Push switch = Open window
Pull switch = Close window
Push or pull s witch to the second
detent position and then release:
Window ope ns or closes
automatically.
If the window glass encounters
resistance above the middle of th e
window during automatic closing,
it is immediately stoppe d and
opened again.

Automatic ligh t control:
When the function is switched on
and the ignition is on, the system
switches between d aytime runnin g
lights an d headli ghts, de pending
on external li ghting conditi ons.
Daytime r unning ligh ts:
Increases visibili ty of the vehicle
during dayl ight.
Automatic headligh t activation:
During poor li ght conditions th e
headlights a re switched on.
Do not cover the light sensor
otherwise the AUTO mode will not
operate pr operly.
Exit lighti ng:
The headlights, parking lights, tail
lights, number plate ligh ts and
some interi or lights illum inate
briefly by doing the f ollowing:
1. Switch off ignition
2. Open the driver’s door
3. P ull turn signal lever briefly
then release
Lights will switch off automatically
after a sh ort dela y.
Entry lighti ng:
Press button ( on remote control:
Headlights, ta il lights, sidelights
and interior lights are switched on
briefly.
Lights switch off immedi ately when
the power button
m is pressed.
Operating hea dlight flash, high
beam and low beam:

Rear fog li ght:
Turn the fog lamp band to

r and release it to turn
the rear fog lamp on or off. The
band will return to its original
position when released.
Headlights and sidelights must be
on for the rear fog lamp to work.

Turn and lane -change sign als:
Lever up = Rig ht turn signal
Lever down = Left turn signal
If lever is move d past the resi stance
point, the turn si gnal is switch ed on
constantly. When the steering
wheel is move d back the turn signal
is automatically deactivated.
For three flashes, e.g. when
changing lane s, press the lever unti l
resistance is felt and then rel ease.
Move lever to resistance point and
hold for lo nger indicati on.
Switch the turn signal off manually
by moving the lever to its original
position.
Hazard warni ng flashers:
Operated with the
¨ button.
In the event of an accident where
the airbags are deplo yed, the
hazard warnin g flashers are
activated automatically.
Windscree n wiper:
2 = Fast
1 = Slow

For a single wipe when the wiper is
off, press the lever down to P .
Vehicles with adjustable wiper
interval: With wipe r lever in

upwards or downwards to make
wiping interval shorter or longe r.
Do not use wiper if the windsc reen
is frozen .
Switch wiper off in car washes.
Windscreen washer:
Pull lever towar ds steering wh eel.
Washer fluid is sprayed on to the
windscreen and the wiper swipes
for a few strokes.
Pedestrian safety alert:
Use this feature to ale rt people who
may not hear your ve hicle
approaching.

Heated rear window,
heated exterior mirr ors Ü:
The heating is operated by
pressing th e
Ü button (F) .
Heating switches off automaticall y
after app rox. 5 mi nutes.
Auto defog:
The system monitors high humidity
inside the vehi cle.
When detected, t he system may
adjust to out side air su pply and
turn on the ai r conditioni ng or the
heater.
The fan speed may slightly
increase to help prevent foggin g.
When high hu midity is no longer
detected, the sy stem will return to
its prior operati on.
Electri cal park ing brake:
To release, swi tch on ignition. Keep
brake pedal depr essed and then
push swit ch J.
To apply, pull switch J : the
electrical parking brak e is applied
automatic ally. For maximum force,
e.g. parking o n inclines, p ull
switch J t wice.
The electrical parking brak e can
always be applie d, ev en if the
ignition is off .
Unlocking an d opening tailg ate:
Press butt on ( on remot e control
(once or twic e, dependin g on
configurat ion) to un lock the
tailgate.
Press the butto n under the tailgate
handle to unlatch an d lift up to
open the tailg ate.
Closing and locking tailga te:
Use interior handle to close.
Do not press the button under the
tailgate handle w hilst closing or it
will unlatch aga in.
Always close the tailgate before
driving.
Press button ) on remote control to
lock the vehicl e.
Opening the bonnet:
Switch ignition off before openi ng
the bonnet, other wise the engine
will be started automatically.
Pull release le ver located bel ow
instrument panel to left of ste ering
wheel.
Push safety catch in engine
compartment to the right and open
the bonnet fully.
Release bonnet prop ro d from its
retainer above the ra diator support
and place it securely into the
slotted retainer in the bonnet.
Closing the bonnet:
Before closing, press the bonnet
prop rod into its retainer. Lower
bonnet and allo w it to drop into the
catch. Check bonnet is engaged.
Refuelling:
The fuel system o n this vehicle
requires a re fuelling proc ess to
control evaporative emissi ons.
Before refuellin g, switch off engine
and any external heaters with
combustion chambers (identif ied
by sticker on f uel filler fl ap).
Switch off any mobile phones.
To refuel:
1. Pr ess th e fuel button in the
driver’s do or for one s econd.
A message is dis played in the
Driver Info rmation Cen tre (DIC)
asking you to wait.
2. Wh en a message is dis played in
the DIC confir ming the syste m is
ready to be refuelled, the fuel
door on the passe nger side will
unlock.
Push the rear edge of the fuel
door inwards and release to
open the fuel door.
3. Tu rn fuel cap anti-clockwise to
remove. When ref uelling, han g
the fuel cap teth er from the hook
on the inside o f the fuel door.
Complete refuelli ng within
30 minutes of pres sing fuel
button in the driv er’s door .
Press button again if necessary,
to continue refuel ling.
4. After refuelling, rein stall the fuel
cap by turning it clockwise until it
clicks. Close th e fuel door.
Do not top off or ove rfill the fu el
tank and wait a few seconds before
removing the nozzle.
Wipe off any overflo wing fuel.
Petrol engine - only use unle aded
fuel that compl ies with DIN EN 228.
Use of fuel that does not comply
with DIN EN 228 or similar can lead
to deposits or engine damage and
loss of warranty.
