Vehicle securi ty
Electric w indows:
Driver’s windo w is operated via s witch in
driver’s doo r.
For incremen tal operation , briefly pull or
press switch.
For automa tic opening or cl osing, pull or
press switch for lo nger. Pull or press
again to stop movement.
To open completely, locate safety catch
on undersid e of bonnet, push ca tch
upwards and lift bo nnet gently. The
bonnet is held open automaticall y.
To close bonnet, lower it graduall y and
allow it to fall into lock under its own
weight.
The passenger door win dows are
operated by a sw itch in each door or the
respective switch in the driver’s doo r.
To open window, press switch and to
close, pull up switch. The win dow stops
when the switch is released.
The rear windows do not open fully.
Unlock and open tailgate:
Press button q on remote control unit,
- or - To unlock from inside the veh icle,
press central locking switch

Tailgate is unlock ed together with door s
and can be opened by oper ating button
above number plate an d lifting tailgate.
Instruments and con trols
Always ensure that the doors, bonn et,
tailgate, sunroof 3 and windows are
properly closed and that the re are no
passengers le ft in the vehicle b efore
locking with the remote control and
activating the anti-theft alarm system 3.
Press p button on remote control unit
again within 3 seco nds of locking to
activate mechanical an ti-theft locking
system 3 . Lock bu ttons on all doors are
positioned such that doors ca nnot be
opened. Therefo re, do not use the
system if there are pe ople in the vehicle.
The doors cannot b e unlocked from
inside.
Electronic i mmobiliser:
z Deactivated when key is in ignition.
z Activated when key is rem oved.
Engine cannot be started in any other
way, so keep spa re key in a safe place!
Starting the engine:
Manual transmi ssion in neutral,
depress clutch and footbrake,
(automatic transmiss ion 3 in P or N ),
do not accelerate.
Petrol engines: turn key to START an d
release it .
Diesel engines : turn key to ON , when
preheating contro l indicator ! goes
out, turn key to START and release it.
(Preheatin g control indi cator !
illuminates in instrument cluster onl y if
outside temperat ure is low).
Key returns automatically to ON
position when released.
Start attempts should not last l onger
than 15 se conds. I f engine does not
start, wait 10 seconds before repe ating
starting procedure.
The increased eng ine speed
automatically returns to normal idli ng
speed as the engine temperature rises.
Drive at a moderate speed , especially in
cold weather, until normal engine
operating temper atures have been
reached.

Unlocking:

unlocked.
Lockin g:

To lock from in side the vehicle, close
doors and tailga te and press central
locking switch
m in driver’s door.
The doors, tailgate and tank flap are
locked.
Automatic transmission 3,
Winter progra mme:
In the event of dif ficulties sta rting-off on
icy and slippery surface s, press WINTER
(or n ) button. Vehicle sets off in 3rd
gear to reduce s lipping and loss of
traction.
Refuelli ng:
Press button q on remote control unit,
- or - press centr al locking switch

driver’s door to unlock tank flap.
Open tank flap, unlock fille r cap by
turning it anticlockwise, remo ve and
place in holder on inside of tank flap.
Refuelling ( continued):
Fuel tank has a l imiting system which
prevents over filling. Before refuelling,
switch off engine an d any heating
systems with combustion chambers.
Switch off mobile ph ones.
To close, replace filler cap a nd turn
clockwise unti l several clicks are h eard,
close tank flap and wipe off any
overflowin g fuel immediately .
Petrol engine s - use unlead ed fuel only .
Diesel engin es - use diesel fuel meeting
specificatio ns of DIN EN 590.
Fuel tank capacity - 65 litres.
Engine oil: Check every 300 miles or prior
to long journeys.
Important:
It is the owner’s re sponsibility
to maintain the correct level of an
appropriate qual ity oil in the engine.
Close and l ock tailga te:
There is a handle o n the inside of the
tailgate to assist when c losing. Close
tailgate by push ing it down so it la tches
securely. To lock tailgate, together with
the doors:
Press button p on remote control unit

To lock from inside th e vehicle, press
central locking switch

Slide / tilt sunr oof 3:
To open: Press switch rearwards, it
opens automa tically unless switch is
pressed again or re leased.
To close: Press and ho ld switch forward s.
Release when desired position is
reached
.
To tilt: Press and ho ld switch upwards.
Release when desired position is
reached.
Bonnet releas e:
To open bonnet, p ull releas e lever

located below in strument panel.
The bonnet wil l then be unlocked and
will partia lly open. Return release lever
to its original position.
Do not pull release lever wh ile the vehicle
is moving.
Manual tran smission:
1 to 5 = 1st to 5th gear
R = Reverse gear
Only engage reverse gear when the
vehicle is statio nary.
Automatic transmissi on 3:
Starting is on ly possible in P or N .
To move from P or N ; switch on ign ition,
depress footbrake a nd press s elector
lever button. To e ngage P or R ; press
selector lever button.
P: Only with vehicl e stationary,
first apply handbrake.
R: Only with vehicle stationary .
Automatic transmission 3,
Manual mode:
Move selector lever out of position D
(to the left) into manual gate,
then forwards or backwards.
+ Shift to a higher gear
- Shift to a lower gear
Tip selector leve r in the appropriate
direction. It then returns to centre
position.

Releasing the hand brake:
Raise lever slightly, pr ess lock button
and lower lever f ully. Handbrake re lease
is audibly con firmed.
To reduce operat ing forces, de press
footbrake at the s ame time.
