Press button p on remote control
twice within 3 seconds to activate
anti-theft locking syst em.
The lock buttons on all do ors are
positioned such that the doors
cannot be open ed. There fore, do
not use this system if there
are people in the vehicle, as the
doors cannot be unl ocked from
inside.

Manual tran smission:
R =R e v e r s e
With the vehicle s tationary, w ait
3 seconds after de pressi ng clutc h
pedal and engage th e gear.
If the gear does not engage , set
lever to neutral, release the cl utch
pedal and depress aga in; then
repeat gear selectio n.
Do not grind the cl utch
unnecessarily.
When operat ing, depress clutch
pedal fully. Do not use the pedal as
a foot rest.
Automatic transmission,
Automati c mode:

The selector lever can only be
moved out of P or N when the
ignition is on and the foot br ake is
applied.
To engage P or R , pus h the rele ase
button on the selector lever.
The selected mode , P, R, N or D is
displaye d in the transmissi on
displa y.
Automatic transm ission,
Manual mode:
Move selector lever from D to the
left.
+ = Highe r gear
- =L o w e r g e a r
If a higher gear is selected when
vehicle speed is too low, or a l ower
gear when vehicle spee d is too
high, the shift is not executed.
The selected gear s 1 - 6 in manual
mode are displaye d in the
transmissio n display .
Automatic tr ansmission,
Fuel economy mode:
In automatic mode, press
s
button; con trol indicato r s
illuminates in the instrumen t
cluster.
The fuel econom y mode allows the
transmission to ada pt gearshift
patterns, improving the vehi cle’s
fuel econom y.
Starting the engi ne:
Turn key to position ACC
Move steering whe el slightly to
release steeri ng wheel lock
Manual transmiss ion in neutral
with brake and clutch depressed
Automatic transmission in P or N
with brake pedal depressed
Do not accelerate
Diesel engines : turn key to ON
for prehea ting and wait fo r
control indicato r ! to
extinguish
Turn key to START and release
Stop-start system:
When condition s allow, the system
switches off the engine to s ave fuel
and reduce e mission lev els if the
vehicle is at a low spe ed or at a
standstill, e.g. at traffic lights or in a
traffic jam. It starts the engine as
soon as the clutch is depressed.
To activate an Autostop:
Depress clutch pedal
Shift to neutr al
Release th e clutch pedal
The needle points to AUTOSTOP in
the tachometer.
To restart engine, depress clutc h
pedal again.
Opening the bonn et:
To open bonn et, pull rele ase leve r
/ located below instr ument
panel on driver ’s side.
The bonnet will th en be unlo cked
and will parti ally open. R eturn
release lever to its original po sition.
Do not pull re lease lever wh ile the
vehicle is moving.
Unlocking and o pening the
tailgate:
Press button q on the remote
control. The vehicle cannot be
locked/unl ocked with remote
control while key is in igniti on
switch.
With the engine running, the
tailgate will only unlock when the
electrical parking b rake is applied
or automatic transmission is in
position P .
To open the tailgate, operate the
button above the numb er plate
and lift the tailgate.
Closing an d locking t he tailga te:
Use the interior handl e on the
underside o f the tailgate to ass ist
when closing. Clo se the tailga te by
pushing it down so it la tches
securely.
Press button p on the remote
control to lock the tailgate and the
doors, or pres s central locking
switch
m in the driver’s d oor.
To open completely, locate safety
catch found sli ghtly left of c entre
on underside of bo nnet. Push catch
upwards and l ift bonnet gen tly.
The bonnet is held open
automatically.
To close bonnet, lowe r it gradu ally
and allow it to fall into the catch
under its o wn weight.
Electrical p arking b rake:
Pull switch J , parking brake
operates automatically with
adequate force. For maximum
force, e.g. when parking with trailer
attached or on inclines, pull switch
J twice.
The parking brake can always be
activated, even if the ignition i s off.
Before leaving th e vehicle, check
parking brake status.
To release, swi tch on ignition , keep
brake pe dal depr essed an d push
switch J .
Drive away function
Selecting a gear or engagi ng drive
gear (automatic transmission) and
then depressin g the accelerator
pedal releas es electrical pa rking
brake.
Refuelling:
Before re fuellin g, switch off engine
and any external heate rs with
combustion cha mbers (iden tified
by sticker on fuel fille r flap). Switch
off mobile phones. Fuel filler flap is
located at left rear side of vehicle.
The fuel fill er flap can only be
opened if the vehicl e is unlocked.
Push fuel fill er flap to rele ase.
Unscrew filler cap anticlockwise
and retain cap in the bracket on
the filler flap. Wi pe off any
overflo wing fuel imm ediately .
Petrol engine s - use unl eaded fuel
that complies with DIN EN 228.
Diesel engi nes - use di esel fuel th at
complies with DI N EN 590.
Fuel tank capacity - 65 litres.
Vehicle secu rity
Tyre pressure:
Check tyre pressure s, including th e spare, every 14 d ays and prior to any long jo urney; tyres sh ould be
checked when cold. This al so applies to vehicles with tyre pressure monito ring system.
Always inflate the spare tyr e to the value spe cified for f ull load.
Incorrect tyre pr essures will i mpair safety, veh icle handling, comf ort and fue l economy and will increase tyre
wear.

Engine oil:
When the ignition is switched on, control indicator
S will illumina te briefly. If the co ntrol indicato r S
illuminates conti nuously or wh ilst driving, the e ngine oil need s topping up imm ediately.
However, check eng ine oil level manu ally on a regular basis, to prevent da mage to the en gine. Ensure that the
correct s pecificat ion of oil is used.
Check the oil with veh icle on a level su rface. Engin e must be at opera ting temperature and switched off f or at
least 5 minutes .
Pull out dipstick, wipe clean, insert to stop on the ha ndle, pull out and read engine oil level. Inse rt dipstick to
stop on handle and make half a turn.

It is the owner ’s responsib ility to maintain t he correct level of an appropri ate quality oi l in the engine .
