Vehicle securi ty
Electric w indows 3 :
Operated via 2 or 4 3 switc hes in the
driver’s door handle .
For incremen tal operati on, briefly pul l or
press the switch. For automatic ope ning
or closing, p ull or pre ss switch for longer.
Pull or press again to stop .
Refuelling:
Open tank flap, un screw fuel fill er cap,
remove and suspend from tank flap. The
fuel tank has a limiting syste m which
prevents overfilling of the tank.
Electric w indows 3 continued:
Front switches operate the front
windows and rear swi tches 3 opera te
the rear windows.
Additional sw itches located in the
passenger’s doo r and rear doors.
Luggage compar tment:
To unlock
Press button q on the radio remote
control. The luggage compartmen t is
unlocked together with the central
locking system and can be opened by
pulling the button under the handle .
Instruments and con trols
In vehicles with Open&Start system 3,
the vehicle is unlocked automatica lly by
pulling a door ha ndle while the key is in
the external rec eption range of the
vehicle. (approx. 1 metre).
The vehicle is locked from the ou tside
with the doors closed by touching the
sensor pane l in the door handle of on e of
the front doors .

Engine cannot be started in any other
way, so keep spa re key in a safe place!
Starting the engine:
Manual transmissi on in neutral with
clutch depr essed, depr ess footbrak e,
automatic transmission 3 in P or N,
do not accelerate, (diesel engi nes; turn
key to 2, wait for pre-heatin g indicator
! to go out)

Unlocking:
Press button q on remote c ontrol - or -
turn key in driver's door lock towards
front of vehicle as far as it will go, turn
key back to the vertical position and
remove.

Refuelling con tinued:
Before refuel ling, switch off engine and if
applicable any auxiliary h eating with
combustion chambers. Switch off mobile
phones.
To close, position fuel fi ller cap and
rotate past resistance until cap audibly
clicks over retai ner. Close tank fl ap and
wipe off any overfl owing fuel.
Petrol engines - use unleaded fuel only.
Diesel engin es - use diesel fue l meeting
specifications of DI N EN 590
Fuel tank capacity (all models) - 52 litres.
Engine oil:
Check every 300 miles or prior to long
journeys.
Important:
It is the owner’s responsibility to
maintain the co rrect level of an
appropriate qual ity oil in the engine.
Open luggage comp artment:
There is a handle o n the inside of th e
tailgate for closing lugg age
compartment.
Bonnet:
To open the bonnet, pull the re lease
lever located belo w the instrument panel
on the driver's sid e. The bonnet will then
be unlocked an d will partially open .
Return release lever to its original
position.
To open completely, locate safety catch
as viewed from the front:
lift upwards and open the bonne t.
The bonnet is hel d open automatically.
To close, l ower it slowl y and allo w it to
fall into lock un der its own weight .
Automatic tr ansmission 3 :
Engine may be started on ly in P or N.
To move out of P ; switch on ig nition,
depress footbrake and pul l up button
on selector lever. To engage P or R;
pull up button on selector lever.
P: Only with vehi cle stat ionary,
first apply handbrake.
R: Only with vehicle stationary.
Easytronic tra nsmission 3:
Current gear is dis played in the
transmission displ ay. The engine can
only be started with th e lever in position
N and with the footbrake depressed .
The displa y shows N. If the footbr ake is
not depresse d, N flashes in the displ ay.
Manual drive mo des: + shift to higher
gear, - shift to lower gear.
For starting o n slippery surfaces, p ress
button T - indicator illuminates, vehi cle
pulls away in 2nd gear.
Transmission fault; indicator A
illuminates.
Manual transmission :
Reverse: with the ve hicle stat ionary,
3 seconds after de -clutching pull the
button up on the selector lever and
engage ge ar.
Check tyre pressures, including spare wheel,
every 14 days and prior to any long journey;
tyres shou ld be checked when cold . Use valve
cap key to make unscrewing valve caps easier.
