Unlocking the vehicle:
Press button q on remote control
once or twice (depending on
setting) - or - turn key in driver’s
door lock towards the front of the
vehicle to unlock the d oors, load
compartment and f uel filler fl ap.
Locking the veh icle:
Press butt on p on remote control
- or - turn key in driver ’s door lo ck
towards the rear to lock the vehicle.
Make sure all doors , load
compartment and fuel filler flap are
closed or the centr al locking system
will not work properly.
Central locking :
To lock or u nlock door s from in side
the vehicle, press central locking
button
m in the centre console with
the doors cl osed.
The LED in the button i lluminates
for approx. 2 mi nutes after locking
with the remote control.
If the doors a re locked fro m inside
whilst drivin g, the LED remain s
illuminated.
The vehicle can be configured to
unlock only the driver’s door w hen
pressing button q once on the
remote con trol. Press ing q twice
will unlock th e entire vehicl e.
Electronic imm obiliser:
Activated automatically when key
is removed fr om ignition switc h.

The selector le ver can only be
moved out of P or N when the
ignition is on and the foot brake is
depressed (selector lever lock).
To engage P or R , press the release
button on the selector lever.
When position N is selected ,
depress foot brake or apply
parking brake befo re starting.
Manual transmission au tomated:
A = Switch between Automatic
and Manual mode

When starting of f, depress foo t
brake and move selector leve r to
A,
+ or -. The transmis sion is in
Automatic mode and first gear is
engaged.
In A , first gear is en gaged and the
clutch pedal is released when the
vehicle is stopped.
Manual transm ission:
Reverse gear:
With vehicle stat ionary, wait
3 seconds afte r depressing clu tch
pedal, pre ss releas e button on
selector lever and e ngage gear.
If the gear does not engage, set the
lever to neutral, release the cl utch
pedal and depress again; then
repeat gear selection.
Starting the engi ne:
Turn key to position 1
Move steering wh eel slightly to
release steeri ng wheel lock
Manual transmiss ion in neutral
with clutch pedal and brake
pedal depres sed;
if clutch pedal is not depressed,
the engine may not start and
control indicator - may
illuminate in in strument cluster
Automatic transmission in P or N
with brake pedal depressed
Do not accelerate
Diesel engin es:
Turn key to position 2 for
preheating and wait for ! to
extinguish i n instrument cl uster
Turn key to position 3 and
release when en gine is runni ng
Stop-Start syst em:
When conditions al low, the system
switches off the eng ine to save fuel
and reduce emiss ion levels if the
vehicle is at a low spee d or at a
standstill, e.g. at traffic lights or in a
traffic jam. It starts the engine
automatically as soon as the clutch
pedal is depresse d.
To activate an Autostop:
Depress clutch pedal
Shift selector lever to neutral
Release the clutch pedal
The needle points to AUTO STOP in
the tachometer.
To restart engine, depress clutch
pedal again.
Load compart ment:
Unlock the vehicle by pressing
button q on remote control once
or twice (depend ing on setting)
- or - by turnin g key in dri ver’s door
lock towards the front of the
vehicle.
To open the tailgate, pull the
button underneath the tailgate
moulding.
Use interior handle to close.
Do not pull button underneath the
tailgate mo ulding when closing or
the tailgate will un lock again.
Secure the bonnet support.
If the bonnet is opened du ring an
Autostop, the engine will be
restarted automatically for safety
reasons.
Before closing, pr ess the bonnet
support into its h older.
Lower the bonnet and allow it to
drop into the catch. Check that the
bonnet is engag ed.
Parking bra ke:
Always apply parking b rake firmly
without operati ng the releas e
button and apply as firmly as
possible on an uphill or d ownhill
slope.
To release the parkin g brake, pull
up lever slig htly, press th e release
button and lower lever fully.
To reduce the ope rating for ces of
the parking brake, depress the foot
brake at the same time.
Opening the bonne t:
Pull the rele ase lever loca ted below
the instrument panel on the front
passenger’ s side and return it to its
original pos ition.
Lift the safety catch upwards and
open the bonnet.
Refuelling:
Before refu elling, switch off engine
and any external heaters with
combustion cham bers (identif ied
by sticker on fu el filler fl ap).
Switch off mobi le phones.
Fuel filler flap is located at right
rear side of vehicle.
In vehicles with rem ote contr ol
central lock ing, the fu el filler fl ap
can only be op ened if the vehicle is
unlocked.
Open fuel f iller flap by ha nd by
pulling at the rece ss.
Unlock the fuel fi ller cap with t he
ignition key, unscrew anticloc kwise
and remove.
The fuel fill er cap can b e retained i n
the bracket on the fuel filler flap.
To close, repla ce fuel filler cap, turn
clockwise until i t clicks and close
tank flap, ensuring it engages.
Wipe off any overflowi ng fuel.
Fuel speci fications:
Petrol engines -
only use unle aded fuel that
complies with DI N EN 228 or
E DIN 51626-1.
Diesel engines -
only use dies el fuel that compli es
with DIN EN 590.
Capacities:
Fuel tank capacity
(All petrol/die sel engines exc ept
A13DTE ) - 45 litre s.
Fuel tank capacity
(Diesel e ngine A13D TE) - 40 litres.
Engine oil:
Check the engine oil level manu ally
on a regular basis to prevent
damage to the engine.
Ensure that the correct
specifica tion of oil is use d.
Check with vehicle on a le vel
surface. Engine mus t be at
operating temperatu re and
switched off for at least 5 minutes.
Pull out dipstick, wipe it clean,
insert to the stop on the handle,
pull out and read en gine oil level.
Insert dipstick to stop on handle
and make half a turn.
Important:
It is the owner’s responsibility to
maintain the correct level of an
appropriate q uality oil in the
engine.
Do not allo w the engine oil level to
drop below the minimum leve l!
Tyre pressure:
Check tyre pressures, i ncluding the spare, every 14 days and prior to any long journey; tyres should be
checked when cold. This also appl ies to vehicles with tyre de flation detec tion system.
The tyre pressure data refers to cold tyres. It applies to summer and wi nter tyr es.
Always inflate the spare tyre to the va lue specified for full load .
The ECO tyre press ure serves to ac hieve the smalles t amount of fu el consumption possible.
Incorrect tyre press ures will impa ir safety, vehicle h andling, com fort and fuel e conomy and incr ease tyre
wear.
Consult a wor kshop regard ing permit ted tyres and further rest rictions.
