Unlocking the vehicle:
Press button c on remote control
once or twice (depending on
setting) to unlock the doors, load
compartment and f uel filler fl ap.
Locking the veh icle:
Press butt on e on remote control.
If the driver’s door is not clo sed
properly, the cen tral lockin g system
will not work.
The vehicle can be configured to
unlock only the driver’s door w hen
pressing button c once on the
remote control. Pressing button c
twice will unlo ck the entire vehi cle.
Central locking button:
To lock or u nlock door s from in side
the vehicle, press central locking
button c e in the centre console
with the doors clo sed. The LED in
the button illuminates when the
doors are locked.
The LED in the button i lluminates
for approx. 2 mi nutes after locking
with the remote control.
Electronic imm obiliser:
Activated automatically when key
is removed fr om ignition switc h.

Automatic transmissi on:
P = park position
R = reverse gear

The selector le ver can only be
moved out of P when the ignition is
on and the foot bra ke is depr essed.
When the foot br ake is not
depressed, th e control indicato r j
illuminates in th e selector lever tr im.
To engage P or R , press the release
button on the selector lever.
When position N is selected ,
depress foot brake or apply
parking brake befo re starting.
Manual mode:
Move selector le ver out of
position D towards the left to
engage manu al mode.
Move lever forwards or backwards
to change gear:
< = Shift to a high er gear
] = Shift to a lower ge ar
If a higher gear is selecte d when
vehicle sp eed is too lo w, or a lower
gear when vehicle speed is too
high, the shift is not executed .
In manual mode, no automatic
shifting to a higher ge ar take s
place at high engine revolutions.
Manual transm ission:
Reverse gear:
With the vehicle sta tionary, wait
3 seconds afte r depressing the
clutch pedal, then press rele ase
button on selector lever and
engage gear.
If the gear does not engage, set the
lever to neutral, release the cl utch
pedal and depress again; then
repeat gear selection.
Do not grind the clutch
unnecessari ly.
When operatin g, depress the clutch
pedal compl etely. Do not use the
pedal as a foot rest.
Starting the engi ne:
Turn key to position 1
Move steering wh eel slightly to
release steeri ng wheel lock
Manual transmiss ion in neutral
with clutch pedal depress ed
Automatic transmission in P or N
with foot brake depressed
Do not accelerate
Diesel engin es:
Turn key to position 2 for
preheating and wai t for control
indicator ! to extinguish in
instrument clus ter
Turn key to position 3 and
release when en gine is runni ng
Before restarting or to switch off
engine, tu rn key ba ck to posi tion 0.
Stop-Start syst em:
When conditions al low, the system
switches off the eng ine to save fuel
and reduce emiss ion levels if the
vehicle is at a low spee d or at a
standstill, e.g. at traffic lights or in a
traffic jam. It starts the engine as
soon as the clutc h pedal is
depressed.
To activate an Autostop:
Depress clutch pedal
Shift selector lever to neutral
Release the clutch pedal
The needle points to AUTO STOP in
the tachometer.
To restart engine, depress clutch
pedal again.
Load compart ment:
Unlock the vehicle by pressing
button c on remo te control once or
twice (depe nding on set ting).
To open the tailgate, push the
touchp ad switch underneath the
tailgate mo ulding.
Use one of the interior han dles on
the unders ide of the tailg ate to
close.
Do not push the touchpad switch
underneath the tailgate moulding
when closing or the ta ilgate will
unlock agai n.
Secure the bonnet support.
If the bonnet is opened du ring an
Autostop, the engine will be
restarted automatically for safety
reasons.
Closing the bonn et:
Before closing, pr ess the bonnet
support into its h older.
Lower the bonnet and allow it to
drop into the catch. Check that the
bonnet is engag ed.
Electri cal park ing brake:
Pull switch J: electric al p arking
brake is applie d automatically.
For max imum f orce, e.g. parki ng
on inclines, pu ll switch J tw i c e .
To release, sw itch on ignition . Keep
foot brake depr essed then pus h
switch J .
Drive away function:
Depressing clutch pedal or
engaging D (automatic
transmission) and then depressing
the accelerator pedal r eleases the
electrical parking brake
automatically.
Opening the bonne t:
Pull the rele ase lever loca ted below
the instrument panel on the driver’ s
side and return it to its original
positio n.
Press the safety catch below the
bonnet and open the bonnet.
Refuelling:
Before refu elling, switch off engine
and any external heaters with
combustion cham bers (identif ied
by sticker on fu el filler fl ap).
Switch off mobi le phones.
Fuel filler flap is located at right
rear side of vehicle.
The fuel fill er flap can onl y be
opened if the ve hicle is un locked.
Pull fuel fil ler flap at the recess and
open.
Unscrew the fuel fi ller cap
anticlockwise and rem ove.
The fuel fill er cap can b e retained i n
the bracket on the fuel filler flap.
For refuel ling, fully in sert the pump
nozzle and switch it on.
To close, repl ace fuel fi ller cap an d
close fuel filler fl ap. After automatic
cut-off, it can be topped up with
maximu m tw o dos es of fuel .
Wipe off any overflowi ng fuel.
Fuel speci fications:
Petrol engi nes - Only us e unleaded
fuel tha t complies with DIN EN 228
or E DIN 51626-1.
Diesel engine s - Only use dies el fuel
that complies with DIN EN 590.
Capacities:
Fuel tank capacity
(All petrol/dies el engines) - 54 litres.
Engine oil:
Check the engine oil level manu ally
on a regular basis to prevent
damage to the engine.
Ensure that the correct
specifica tion of oil is use d.
Check with vehicle on a le vel
surface. Engine mus t be at
operating temperatu re and
switched off for at least 5 minutes.
Pull out dipstick, wipe it clean,
insert to the stop on the handle,
pull out and read en gine oil level.
Insert dipstick to stop on handle
and make half a turn.
Important:
It is the owner’s responsibility to
maintain the correct level of an
appropriate q uality oil in the
engine.
Do not allo w the engine oil level to
drop below the minimum leve l!
Tyre pressure:
Check tyre pressu res, incl uding the sp are, every 1 4 days and prior to any long journey; tyres should be checked
when cold. This als o applies to vehicle s with tyre deflation detection system.
The tyre pressure data refers to cold tyres. It applies to summer and wi nter tyr es.
Always inflate the spare tyre to the va lue specified for full load .
The ECO tyre press ure serves to ac hieve the smalles t amount of fu el consumption possible.
Incorrect tyre pr essures impai rs safety, ve hicle handling, comfort and fu el economy and increases tyre wear.
