Vehicle securi ty
Electric w indows 3 :
Operated via 2 or 4 3 switc hes in the
driver’s doo r. Front switches op erate the
front windows and rear swi tches 3
operate the rear windo ws.
For incremen tal operati on, briefly pul l or
press the switch. For automatic ope ning
or closing, p ull or pre ss switch for longer.
Pull or press again to stop .
Refuelling:
Open tank flap, un screw fuel fill er cap,
remove and suspend from tank flap. The
fuel tank has a limiting syste m which
prevents overfilling of the tank.
Luggage compar tment:
To unlock
Press button q on the radio remote
control an d pull button beneath hand le.
Vehicles with Open&Start system 3 the
tailgate is unlocked automatically by
pulling the button beneath the ha ndle
when the electr onic key is in the external
reception range o f the vehicle.
Bonnet:
To open the bonnet, pull the rele ase
lever located below the instrumen t
panel on the dr iver's side. The bonnet
will then be unlo cked and will partially
open. Retu rn release le ver to its orig inal
position.
Instruments and con trols
Open&Start system 3:
Allows the vehicl e to be locked /
unlocked pro viding the electr onic key is
in the external re ception range of the
vehicle (approx. 1 metre). Vehicle can
then be started using the start/stop
button provid ing the driver has th e
electronic key on his per son.
Starting the engine:
Manual transmissi on in neutral with
clutch depr essed, depr ess foot brake,
automatic transmission 3 in P or N,
do not accelerate, (diesel engi nes; turn
key to 2 , wait fo r preheating indi cator !

Starting the engine:
Vehicles with Open&Start system 3 the
electroni c key must be within rece ption
range of i nterior. Ma nual transmis sion in
neutral with clutch d epressed, depress
foot brak e, automatic transmission 3 in
P or N, do not accelerate.
Tyre pressures:
Check tyre pressures, i ncluding spa re
wheel, every 14 d ays and prior to a ny
long journey; tyres should be chec ked
when cold.

Unlocking:
Press button q on remote control and
pull door ha ndle. Vehicles with the
Open&Start syste m 3, the vehi cle is
unlocked automatically by pulling a
door handle if the electronic key is in the
external r eception ran ge of the veh icle
(approx. 1 metre).
Lockin g:
Press button p on remote control.
Vehicles with the Open&Start system 3.
The electronic key must be in the
external recept ion range of th e vehicle
(approx. 1 metr e). Touching the sensor
in the driver or p assenger side door
handle lo cks the doo rs and lug gage
compartment.

Refuelling con tinued:
Before refuel ling, switch off eng ine and if
applicable any auxiliary h eating with
combustion chambers. Switch off mobile
phones.
To close, position fuel fi ller cap and
rotate past resistance until cap audibly
clicks over retai ner. Close tank fl ap and
wipe off any overfl owing fuel.
Petrol engines - use unleaded fuel only.
Diesel engin es - use diesel fue l meeting
specifications of DI N EN 590
Fuel tank capacity (all models) - 56 litres.
Engine oil:
Check every 300 miles or prior to long
journeys.
Important:
It is the owner’s responsibility to
maintain the co rrect level of an
appropriate qual ity oil in the engine.
Electronic imm obiliser:
The vehicle checks whet her the vehicle
may be started with the mechanical key
or electronic ke y of the Open&Start
system 3 that is be ing used. If the key is
recognised as "authorised" the veh icle
can be started.
The electronic i mmobiliser acti vates
itself automatically after the key has
been removed from the ignition or with
the Open&Start sy stem 3, when the
engine is swi tched off by pr essing the
Start/Stop button.
To open completely, locate safety catch
as viewed from the front:
lift upwards an d open the bonnet.
To hold the bonn et in the open position,
insert support rod located at right
angles above the radiator grille into the
small slot in the unde rside of the b onnet,
at its front edge.
Before clos ing bonnet, pre ss support rod
firmly into its reta iner. Lower the bon net
gradually and then allow it to fall into
the lock under its own weight.
Check that the bo nnet is locked in
position b y pulling at its front edge . If it
is not engaged, repeat th e procedure.
Manual trans mission:
Reverse gear: Wi th vehicle stationary,
wait 3 seconds after d eclutching and
then pull up bu tton on selector le ver and
engage gear.
Automatic transm ission 3 :
Engine may be started on ly in P or N.
To move out of P ; switch on ignition,
depress foot br ake and pull up button
on selector le ver. To engage P or R ; pul l
up button on selector lever.
P: Only with vehicle stationary,
first apply hand brake.
R: Only with vehicle stationary.
