Passenger airbag - activating/
deactivating*
The front passenger airbag (p. 36) can be deac-
tivated if the car is equipped with a switch,
PACOS (Passenger Airbag Cut Off Switch).
Switch - PACOS
The switch for the passenger airbag (PACOS) is
located on the passenger end of the instrument
panel and is accessible when the passenger door
is open.
Check that the switch is in the required position.
The remote control key's key blade (p. 169)
should be used to change position.
Location of airbag switch.
ON- the airbag is activated. With the switch
in this position, all front-facing passengers
(children and adults) can sit safely on the
passenger seat.
OFF - the airbag is deactivated. With the
switch in this position, children in rear-facing
child seats can sit safely on the front pas-
senger seat.
WARNING
Activated airbag (passenger seat):
Never use a rear-facing child seat on the front
passenger seat when the passenger airbag is
activated.
Deactivated airbag (passenger seat):
Front-facing passengers (children and adults)
must never sit on the front passenger seat
when the passenger airbag is deactivated.
Failure to follow the advice given above can
endanger life or lead to serious personal
injury.
NOTE
When the remote control key is in key posi-
tion II (p. 83) the warning symbol (p. 34) for
the airbag is shown in the combined instru-
ment panel for approx. 6 seconds.
Following which, the indicator in the roof con-
sole is illuminated showing the correct status
for the front passenger seat airbag.

A warning symbol in the roof console indicates
that the airbag for the front passenger seat is
activated (see preceding illustration).
WARNING
Never use a rear-facing child seat on the front
seat if the passenger airbag is activated and
the
symbol in the roof console is illumi-
nated to indicate this. Failure to follow this
advice could endanger the life of the child.
